I don t think I have ever been happier to see a hole in the ground as I was with the long-awaited $2 million pool facilities project getting underway. We had to jump through a multitude of hoops to get the municipal approvals needed (many months were unnecessarily wasted by an overly-bureaucratic and heavily regulated process), but we are now on track for a grand opening for Memorial Day Weekend, 2015. Along with our new cart and bag storage facility, we will be accepting a new golf cart fleet in September. Also in September, we will open our new Tillinghast-inspired reef hole - #13. This par-3, stretching to 183 yards, will be abeautiful addition to the course and provide an appealing view adjacent to our clubhouse. Our other course enhancements have been well received, and there are more to come. There are a lot of good golf and dining events left this fall, so we hope you take full advantage of the remainder of this great season. Sincerely, Chris Schiavone Managing Partner Take the #13 Challenge Take a Swing at #13 for $13,000! Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 5:13pm WEBSITE ADDRESS WWW.SHACKAMAXONCC.COM 2 The first 50 members to sign up for dinner get to swing for a hole-in-one worth $13,000 in Club Cash. That evening we will be featuring a special Tavern Menu in the Living Room. Please make your reservations with Amanda.

Shack newsletter Fall 2014_Layout 1 8/29/14 11:25 AM Page 11 Golf David Elliott Director of Golf It is hard to believe that fall is already upon us. The summers seem to go by faster and faster each year. I look forward to a busy fall. As the cooler temperatures arrive, I encourage everyone to swing a golf club as often as possible. I tell my students, even if you can t hit balls or play golf, take 40 or 50 swings a day in your basement, or out in the yard. As we get older, we need to keep our golf muscles limber and ready to play. There is nothing more disheartening than having to start from square one in the spring. Being able to hit the ground running in 2015 will be a huge advantage to your golf game. I will be traveling to Orlando for the PGA Merchandise Show in January. This is an exciting event where all of golf s latest and greatest clubs, balls, apparel, and gadgets will be on display. I look forward to putting together a list of merchandise for the 2015 Golf Season. During 2014, the Club saw a huge increase in participation of our Junior Golf Program. These kids are the future of the game, and it is great to see so many of our members children getting involved in the game of golf. Under the direction of Joe Bush and Jay Orsino, I am confident the Junior Golf Program will only continue to grow. I would also like to commend the membership for improving the overall pace of play throughout the year. All players like to complete their round at a good pace while still enjoying all the course has to offer. I thank you for your efforts. Looking forward to 2015, I hope to see a continuation of the increased participation in the Club events. We had some great tournaments this past season, and these events will grow to be bigger and better. As I have said all year, I welcome suggestions and comments to improve all aspects of our tournaments. With the addition of our new cart barn, new cart fleet and the construction of the new pool, I cannot wait for next year. 2014 Men s Member-Guest Champions Hosein Yeh & Michael Stotler Golf Clinic & Cocktail Reception With Two-Time Senior Major Champion & Ryder Cup Legend Colin Montgomerie Tuesday, October 7, 2014 Golf Clinic - 3:30pm on the Range Cocktail Reception - 4:15pm - 5:30pm Enjoy drinks, hors d oeuvres and a Ryder Cup Roundup discussion with Colin Montgomerie. $40.00 per person Couples Closing Day Friday, Sept. 19th 1:30pm Shotgun 18 Holes Ladies Closing Day Sunday, Oct. 5th 9:00am Shotgun Men s Closing Day Sunday, Oct. 19th 8:00am Breakfast 9:00am Shotgun Shack s New Cart & Bag Storage Facility 10
Shack newsletter Fall 2014_Layout 1 8/29/14 11:25 AM Page 12 Richard Tacconelli Course Superintendent Throughout the first few weeks of July, we experienced over 7 inches of rain, flooding, high heat and humid conditions. This could have been a recipe for disaster on the bentgrass/poa annual greens, but we successfully emerged on the other side. The greens department has continued to work diligently throughout the season to keep the golf course in the best condition possible. We have been hard at work on the grounds throughout the season. Our enhancements include: A new bunker and mounds to the right of #9 fairway, and the new #9 tees that are open for play New #13 green and tees complex are complete, and we are in the process of growing in the new green Continued golf course weed control of clover, dandelions, crabgrass and nut sedge Bright and colorful Clubhouse landscaping complementing the improved golf course conditioning We would like to ask for the help of our members and guests at Shackamaxon Country Club to maintain the best course conditions possible. As we head into the fall season, we would like to focus on divot repairs, divot filling and tee box divot repair. The hope is that every member will do their part to collectively make the course better. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. The golf course maintenance staff has done a tremendous job maintaining the course during the construction of the golf course enhancements. We appreciate the Golf Shop, Club staff, owners and members for your continued support along the way.
