SPECIAL NOTICES DOPE TESTING - Random testing - will occur at this year s Championships. Any horse/pony identified for testing MUST present themselves at the required time in the special area provided. Refer Rule 33 BSPA Rule book). Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification. ELECTRIC HOOK-UPS Book via Keysoe. ALL other vehicles/competitors MUST park in the designated Parking areas BAR-B-Q s ARE PERMITTED but you MUST be aware of Health and Safety at all times. FOOD AND DRINK There is a Restaurant on site offering hot & cold food and drinks incl. Alcohol. TENTS AND CARAVANS are welcome. Please remember to be considerate to your neighbors regarding noise. ALL appliances MUST comply with current safety regulations. All generators must be turned off at 11pm. SHOWERS at the showground. DOGS - If you must bring them remember they are not allowed in the Keysoe indoor facility or on the veranda at all. (Hygiene & H&S). No fouling - you must clean up and pick up any mess they leave behind them. Bring your pooper-scoopers and bags please. Welfare of animals requires you to ensure they are in a cool well-ventilated environment at all times. EVENING WEAR - All Judges and Officials will change into more formal evening wear, and we expect that competing members will dress up for the occasion too. For those competitors competing in the Champions Gala then the dress code is more formal and the schedule advises you about this - refer to page 31. STABLING & STABLE ALLOCATION - There will be a total of 80 stables on site both permanent and temporary stables. Refer to stable booking form. Stable allocation will be done by the Stable Manager at Keysoe, BSPA do not manage the stables so please refer all of your queries to Keysoe staff. Some limited off-site stables may be available via BSPA. Enquiries via the Show Secretary. NO EXCEPTIONS PRE -CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY INTO CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES AND FINALS NO EXCEPTIONS REGISTRATION - All Horses/Ponies MUST be registered with the B.S.P.A. prior to the Championships. All registration documentation MUST be in the name of the current owner or owners (including leaseholders and co-owners). If you have not completed the change of ownership procedure, do so now (refer registration form). Registered Prefixes only will be used; ALL others will be deleted from Catalogue. QUALIFICATION CARDS - Your Blue Q cards must be submitted with your entry correctly signed and completed by Judges or Show Secretaries. REMEMBER the B.S.P.A. check all entries against this year s results, so make sure you only enter the section(s) In Hand or Ridden that you have qualified for. MEMBERSHIP - You (owner or co-owner, producer or leaseholder) and anyone who either rides or leads your Horse/Pony including producers or trainers attending the Championships all need to be members. We do allow membership to be purchased on the day so as long as you have checked this out with your riders and handlers, then there won t be any problems. Any non- member competing with any horse or pony (In Hand or Ridden) will result in the disqualification of the entrant and the loss of all places and any prize-money. Under these circumstances the awards will be handed down and the results adjusted accordingly. BSPA MEMBERSHIP CARDS - These will be inspected by Ring Stewards or officials at their discretion throughout the show even in Championships. PASSPORTS: It is a Defra Requiremen that you MUST have these with you when you travel your equines. You will be asked to show them if you are stopped, or the show is inspected, or if you require any 9

Emergency veterinary assistance. Your Passport Number and Passport Issuing Organisation (PIO) details are also required with your entries. See Entry Form. STALLIONS: Only BSPA Graded Stallions may compete at the Championships. STALLION Red I.D. CARDS MUST be carried at all times by Handlers/Riders and will be inspected by Ring Stewards or officials at their discretion throughout the show even in Championships. CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW RULES BSPA SHOWING RULES APPLY (refer Rule Book), It is the competitor s responsibility to be familiar with BSPA showing rules. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY A HORSE OR PONY BE RIDDEN AT THE SHOW WHICH IS NOT ENTERED INTO A RIDDEN CLASS. 1. THE JUDGE S DECISION IS FINAL. 2. Competitors and spectators attend the show at their own risk. The organizers disclaim any responsibility for any accident or injury to persons or animals, damage, loss or theft of car, vehicles or property. Entry to the Show is an acceptance of this rule. 3. The Organisers reserve the absolute right to alter the programme, cancel a class, restrict the numbers of entries, amalgamate any class at their discretion whether indicated in the Schedule or not; or refuse an entry for any class, or reject an entry from any person they may see fit to do so, refunding any fee in respect thereof. 4. Competitors, members and judges should behave at all times in ways that do not bring himself or herself or the B.S.P.A. into disrepute. 5. Any exhibit deemed by the judge or show director/s to be dangerous and/or out of the control of its handler/rider, WILL be asked to leave the ring and may be asked to leave the showground. 6. The videoing (by any means including the use of mobile phones) of any class or animal whilst competing in a class is forbidden unless permission has been sort from the Show Directors. Under these circumstances a permit will be issued and MUST be shown on request. 7. Membership Cards- must be carried at all times and may be required to be shown to BSPA officials at any time. 8. Hats: ALL competitors must wear hard hats and correct riding footwear when mounted. Competitor s attention is drawn to the BHS Recommendations concerning properly fitted and secured hats i.e. In line with the overall policy of the BHS it is strongly recommended that all persons, when mounted on Horses or Ponies, wear properly fitted and secured hard hats, which conform to current BSI / European standards. Competitors who do not comply with this regulation do so entirely at their own risk and against the advice of the B.S.P.A. exception - Evening Performance where, for adults, Top hats and Bowler hats are acceptable. In particular all competitors must wear a skullcap or hat and safety harness according to those standards in the jumping phase of the Working Hunter. Skullcaps must have a navy blue or black cover. Western attire when worn in Paint and other classes are done so entirely at the competitor s individual risk and responsibility. It is mandatory for junior competitors under the age of 18 as Jan 1 st to wear properly secured hats at all times including Evening Performances. 9. Whips/Canes must not exceed 30 (76cms). Under no circumstances should dressage whips be used in any in hand or ridden class. They will be removed by Stewards. 10. Excessive use of whips and spurs in classes will lead to the instant Disqualification of the competitor who will be asked to leave the Showground. 11. The Organisers reserve the right to check the height of any Horse/ Pony competing, or refuse entry to any animal considered, in their opinion, to be unfit for competition. Where a Horse has been entered previously or is registered at a height or weight higher than current entry Joint Measurement Height Certificate WILL is required, and proof of weight, prior to the entry being accepted. 12. The Show will commence promptly at its recorded time; thereafter it is the Competitors responsibility to ensure that they present themselves to the ring in good time for their class. Ring information will be announced as available. No refunds will be given to competitors failing to attend their class. 13. Handlers and Riders not presenting themselves at the collecting ring when the class is called may be disqualified. NO competitor may enter the ring once the Class has commenced trotting (R) or once the In Hand trot up (IH) has commenced. Refer BSPA Rule Book. Riders must be mounted for all ridden phases of a class including final walk round and awards; and should lead their exhibit for the conformation phase unless an exemption has been given by the Show Director. 14. No competitor may jump any fences on the Showground other than those designated as practice jumps or courses. 15. All Stallions MUST be both Graded and Licensed and registered with the B.S.P.A. in order to compete in the Championships and in possession of a Stallion I D Card. Stallion Harness - Competitors please note that these should not be worn. N.B. It is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure that their Horse/Pony is under proper control at all times. 16. Stallions - No junior handler under 14 years (as 1st January) or junior rider may compete with a stallion in any class. 17. No Horse or Pony less than 4 years of age may compete in any ridden class held under the auspice of the B.S.P.A. 12

18. Yearling, 2 and 3yr old colts MUST be bitted in order to be shown. Handlers in all Youngstock / In Hand classes are strongly advised for personnel safety to wear protective headgear. It is mandatory for Junior Competitors under the age of 18 to wear properly secured hats at all times. The B.S.P.A. does not accept any liability for injury to competitors who do not comply with this rule. When competitors elect to adopt American or western attire, Paint Horse (Western Dress and tack) they do so entirely at their own risk. All competitors are urged to carry accident insurance and third party liability insurance. 19. No Leading Rein exhibits are eligible for any ridden class unless so indicated. 20. Open Pony - When Senior and Junior Riders compete in the same class, including Working Hunter Pony, no competitor should wear spurs (refer Rule 10). Judges and stewards will insist on their removal if this rule is not adhered to. This rule does not apply to Horse or Cob exceeding 153cms classes or to Section and Supreme Championships where the same tack is required to be worn that applied to the original class. 21. Junior riders must not have attained their 18th birthday by 1st January. JUNIOR RIDERS MUST NOT WEAR SPURS. Judges and stewards will insist on their removal if this rule is not adhered to, even in Championships. 22. Make-up - Colour enhancing/disguising make-up is forbidden on any equine. This does not apply to hoof oil, baby oil, white powder bloc, glistening or evening glitter. 23. Substitution - No Horse or Pony may be substituted in any entry/class once entries have closed. Competitor details must comply with database information. When a competitor qualifies more than one exhibit for a Champion or Supreme Championship, another rider/handler may be substituted for the Championship only. BSPA Rules 62 and 32. 24. Late Entries - must be paid by Cash, Building Society or Bank cheques or Postal Orders only, no personal cheques will be accepted. Show Day Entries for Working Hunter and RIHS classes by cash only. Cheques made payable to the BSPA for entries, if not honoured by the bank will incur BSPA Rule 42 immediately. 25. REFUNDS & CANCELLATION OF SHOW - The B.S.P.A. regrets that due to the high costs of staging the Championships, no entry fee will be refunded (no exceptions) after the closing date. In the event of circumstances beyond the control of the Committee causing this event to be cancelled, no refund of entries will be issued to any competitor. It should be noted that costs are incurred that will require payment whether the show is held or not. Payment of entry fees demonstrate acceptance of this rule by every member. 26. The Show Committee may at their absolute discretion refuse or reject an entry from any member, without explanation. 27. PRIZEMONEY - All prize money of 50 or more will be paid by cheque within 28 days of the Championships. Any other prize money not collected by end of show will be forfeited and donated to Charity 28. On grounds of Health and Safety, horses must only be walked from the Horsebox area to practice, collection and show rings. NO TROTTING OR CANTERING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE SPECTATOR AREAS OR IN CHAMPIONSHIP HOLDING/COLLECTING AREAS. Any breach of this rule may result in the offender being asked to leave the show. 29. The playing of ball games or participation in any activity that may excite or frighten an animal is strictly not allowed within the Lorry Parking and Camping Field or those areas set aside for stabling or as practice or exercise areas. 30. Dogs must be on a fixed lead at ALL times and are only allowed in the Lorry Parking/Camping Areas. See Special Notices p3. 31. Paramedic & First Aid Cover a 6 levy per exhibit to be paid with entries.
