Committee Profile: William I joined Flare in 2014 with absolutely no experience in dance (but growing up watching ABDC, Puspos, etc.). I probably had some secret desire to be cool and swag like them (p.s. it didn t work), so I decided to give it a try. I had some notion that dancing would work out because I thought I was co-ordinated to some extent, but boy was I wrong. My first class was Mark s urban for cocktail night and it was the first time I ve been so utterly humbled (i.e. wrecked) by a gap in skill. Couldn t pick up chorey to save my life, couldn t even copy the moves being done in front of me. Obviously my only option then was to go to more classes to reinforce how bad I was. I casted for Alana s piece that year and forgot the chorey on the spot during casting which was definitely one of the most embarassing moments of my life. Needless to say, I was not casted and actually never even received rejection email for that. Somehow, that year, I weened my way into the K-Pop production piece and I ve never really loked back. Flare has become such an integral part of my uni life and I don t really know where I would be without it. If Flare has shown me anything, it really is just persistence that you need in order to succeed. Choreographer Profile: Jacqueline 2016, This is my second year and first year choreographing in Flare. In Flare, I get to explore different genres of dances, for example: Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Lyrical, Urban, etc. Flare also gave me a lot of opportunities to perform. Apart from dance and performances, I've met lots of amazing people and friends in this big group of dancers. Through flare I became close to them. We talk about dance and also other stuff. This has made my year in flare amazing. To all of you who just joined or interested in joining this big family, don't be afraid of getting to know the old members in this group. Everyone here is friendly and super helpful. Feel free to ask questions or help no matter it's about dance or even it's about life. Open up yourself for every Flare member.
