Elmhurst Baseball Leagues, Inc., is an independent organization not affiliated or sponsored by Elmhurst Community School District 205 or the Elmhurst Park District. ELMHURST BASEBALL LEAGUE, INC. 2014 SEASON Although winter is upon us, it is time again to register your child to play in the Elmhurst Baseball League, Inc., a not-for-profit organization which conducts leagues for baseball, softball, clinics, and camps for boys and girls ages 5-15. Regular season play begins mid-april and ends by the 4 th of July. Once again we will offer Summer Camp s for both boys and girls in June. The year is also highlighted by our annual All-Star Weekend, held in June at Plunkett Park. All-Star Weekend will again feature a batting/home run hitting contest and other festivities. Additional competition opportunities will be available for those qualified and selected players in an in-house Traveling program. Children should be registered into the league level that corresponds to their age. EX: A baseball age 8 yr. old girl should register for Beginner Girls. PLAYERS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN THE ELMHURST BASEBALL LEAGUES, INC., IF THEY PARTICIPATE IN OTHER LEAGUES OR TEAMS NOT SPONSORED BY ELMHURST BASEBALL LEAGUES, INC., DURING THE 2014

SEASON. Ex: Players can not play on club or travel teams if they are playing in the Elmhurst Baseball Leagues. PLAYING UP or PLAYING DOWN Any child desiring to play at a league level other than their age determined level must request permission of the Executive Committee of the Board to play up at the higher level. A Request to Play Up/Down Form must be completed and submitted at the time of registration. (See attached form). IN ALL INSTANCES, ANY PLAYER PLAYING UP OR DOWN MUST PLAY WITH THEIR AGE GROUP FOR ALL-STAR WEEKEND AND TRAVELING BASEBALL. FORMATION OF TEAMS BTB, GTB : Teams at the Boys T-Ball, and Girls T-Ball are formed by the League. Whenever possible, the teams will be made up of players from the same school or area, so that the children can play with their friends or classmates. Unfortunately, at all levels of play, requests for car pools or specific team assignments cannot be honored. Because teams at all other levels are formed by an open draft, requests for specific managers, or teams, for any reason, cannot be honored. BROTHERS/SISTERS PLAYING IN THE SAME LEAGUE LEVEL WILL ALWAYS BE ON THE SAME TEAM. Colt and In- House Traveling: Participants will be selected through a try-out or other designated process. Do not submit any of the enclosed registration forms. The dates and times of try-outs will be posted on our website at www.elmhurstbaseball.com.

UNIFORMS/EQUIPMENT AT ALL TIMES DURING LEAGUE PLAY, THE LEAGUE ISSUED UNIFORM MUST BE WORN. Metal spikes are not allowed at any level. The League provides each team with helmets, a full set of catcher s gear, (based upon the level of play), and game balls. A limited selection of bats is also provided based upon availability. Players need only bring their own gloves and shoes. LEAGUE RULES REQUIRE PLAYERS TO WEAR AND PROVIDE THEIR OWN PERSONAL PROTECTION ITEMS. If you have questions relating to allowable equipment (spikes & bats) please consult the league rules available on our website. ADDITIONAL REVENUES As we have continued to expand our program and increase the number of participants and levels of play, our costs continue to rise. Registration fees do not cover all of our expenses. THE LEAGUE DOES ENCOURAGE AND SEEK ADDITIONAL MONIES TO OFFSET ITS OPERATING EXPENSES THROUGH ITS VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION PROGRAM AND ITS SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM. PLEASE CONSIDER EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING: SPONSORSHIP The Team Sponsorship Program identifies and recognizes organizations, businesses, or individuals who agree to sponsor one or more of our teams. The sponsorship fee is $200 per team. Each Team Sponsor receives acknowledgment from the League in its newsletters and communications as well as receiving a plaque of recognition. Each Team Sponsor s name will also appear on our website and will also be displayed at all League functions, including the Winter Clinic and All-Star Weekend. INTERESTED IN BECOMING A SPONSOR??? UMPIRES The League provides the opportunity to boys and girls, age 11 or older, including adults to earn money by umpiring games. Anyone who is 11 years old or older and is interested in being an umpire for the 2014 season must complete the attached Umpire Registration Form and return it by February 8, 2014. Application The Elmhurst Baseball League, Inc. would like to invite young ladies and men 11 years old and older to become umpires this coming Spring and Summer. Do you realize how much money you can make umpiring softball and baseball games a couple days a week? The League has had some young men, women and adults make as much as $ 2000 during the course of the summer. The fees paid for games range from $ 11 per game for farm, minor and Jr. Girls to $ 20 per game for a Senior Girls or Pony game. The umpires receive paychecks every 3 weeks during the course of the season. The League will have 3 mandatory training sessions for all umpires, you will be contacted regarding dates. Please fill out the enclosed application and return it no later than February 8, 2014. A large portion of the games are assigned at these clinics. So don t miss out on this opportunity. Don t be shy.
