P a g e 2 December Events 24 Club Closes at Noon 25 Christmas (Club Closed) 31 New Years Eve In December, the first tee time will be 8:30 every day of the week. If we have frost delays, this will include the driving range because of the over seeding done on the range tees and practice areas. DG&TC is very excited about the 1st Annual Holiday Extravaganza here at the club. On November 20 from 6-9pm we will have local merchants set up booths in the ballroom. Get a jump start on your Holiday Season. Join us for a evening of shopping! In order to keep the best practice area possible, we need you help! When practicing PLEASE pattern your divots LINEAR like the image on the left. This will help the range tee to grow in faster and help us provide you with the best practice facilities. TIME CHANGE Golf Shop will close nightly at 5:00 Range Closes at 4:30 pm

P a g e 3 D u n c a n G o l f & T e n n i s C l u b Rules Wizard: Q: Player makes a swing and missed the ball. After the fact, they realize the ball was not their ball. What is the ruling? A:The player made an attempt at a wrong ball there for incurring a 2 stroke penalty. Vokey wedges in stock now on sale for $120 (In stock price only)

P a g e 4 D u n c a n G o l f & T e n n i s C l u b Grounds & Greens Well I got my wish, fall has arrived. The weather was beautiful during the month of November. I notice a lot of you members took advantage. Fall is one of the better times of year to play golf. The greens are usually faster and the heat won t kill you, or the greens. December looks to be starting off the same. We have begun edging the cart paths. It takes awhile for the guys to get all the way around the course. We have fixed multiple irrigation leaks and have a few remaining. Please excuse the mess in those areas, we will sod them as soon as we can. We will start to trim trees this month and even have a couple that need to be removed. The big tractor has been out mulching leaves everyday and I think it has helped with play and finding golf balls. We will continue this process as long as needed. We are unable to rake the bunkers as often this time of year because of leaves. It takes a non windy day to get in there and remove the leaves then rake them before more blow back in. Bare with us, we haven t forgotten them. I would like to thank you all for hitting from the designated areas on the driving range and chipping area. This will really help the health of the grass in those areas we are staying off of. We are really excited about the bags on the range that hold the range balls. I think it adds a nice touch and ups our game out here a little. I tell my guys in maintenance that we need to strive everyday to be like Augusta, and if come up a little short, we are still pretty good! I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Oh yeah, and Boomer Sooner!! Daniel Mills, GCS

P a g e 5 D u n c a n G o l f & T e n n i s Look for us on Facebook under Duncan G&TC and then like us! Let the Duncan G&TC Staff take the stress away from your Christmas shopping. Free Personalization on Titleist Golf Balls through December 31st. Orders must be placed by Dec. 8th to be guaranteed by Christmas.

P a g e 6 D u n c a n G o l f & T e n n i s C l u b T i p s F r o m t h e P r o s The greens have made their turn into winter mode and are now fast and true. The greens have different breaks and are very different than they were a couple of months ago. Understanding how to approach them will help you make the adjustments needed to hole more putts. First we need to understand the on faster greens, the ball is not hit as hard there for has less energy and gravity will play a bigger role making the putt break more. Lets compare 2 putts with the exact same distance and slope on different speed greens. For this example, we will be comparing a 15 foot putt with 2% slope. This is probably the average amount of break we will see throughout a round. The first speed of greens will be an 8 on the stimp meter and the second will be a 10 on the stimp meter. This is about the change in speeds that we have seen from July to now at DG&TC. A stimp meter measures how far the ball rolls. i.e. the difference between an 8 and a 10 on the stimp meter is a putt rolling 2 feet further. The difference between these 2 putts with only changing the speed can be 4 feet difference in break!!! That means the putt that we aimed at the left edge of the hole in July now needs to be played 4 feet left of the hole because the pace is so much slower. The long and short of this is we need to play more break and try to eliminate 3 putts versus making aggressive runs at making every putt we hit. After all, a slow rolling putt as it approaches the hole has a higher percentage chance of going in versus one aggressively rolling at the hole. If you have any questions or need help adjusting, feel free to stop by the golf shop for some help from YOUR golf professionals.
