PRESENTS Please refer to Feisworx for updated information at www.feisworx.com Possak Hampshire Feis is registered with the North America Feis Commission, An Coimisiun Le Rinci Gaelacha, Dublin Ireland, Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America and the Western Canadian Irish Dance Teachers Association

December 15, 2017 Dear Teachers, Parents and Competitors, On behalf of the Howth Society of Irish Dancing, and the Possak Hampshire Academy of Irish Dance, we invite you to our 14th annual feis, to be held in Calgary on March 3 and 4, 2018. We are very happy to return to the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, offering ample space for the feis, spacious rooms and many guest facilities. We hope that you will enjoy the resort for the weekend. I can also confirm that we will be awarding 50% of the dancers entered in each competition at the feis in order to support and encourage as many children as possible in their Irish dancing. We are also excited about offering new competitions this year: traditional set specials at the N/PW and Championship levels (as traditional sets are growing in popularity and importance in competitive Irish dancing), and double Open Championships (a great chance to get two champs in right before Worlds!) We thank you all for your continued support of our feis and look forward to seeing everyone in March. Please visit our website at www.possakhampshire.com for ongoing information regarding our feis. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at PossakHampshireFeis@gmail.com. Le Dea Ghuí, Linda Possak Anderson ADCRG 2018 Possak Hampshire Feis Chair Howth Society of Irish Dancing

SCHEDULE Please note the final schedule will be posted after registrations have been completed. Saturday March 3: Preliminary and Open Championships, Championship Specials (Slip Jig, Treble Reel and Trad Set), 2nd Novice / Prizewinner Treble Jig Trophy, Teams, and Adults Sunday March 4: Grade Level Solos (First Feis, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Novice, Prizewinner), Trophies (First Feis, Beginner / Advanced Beginner, Novice / Prizewinner) and Specials (Slip Jig, Treble Reel and N/PW Trad Set), and NEW THIS YEAR Double OPEN Championships. Double Novice / Prizewinner Trophy Competitions Eligible dancers may enter both trophy competitions. For dancers who win on the Saturday: if it is your second trophy win (moving you to Preliminary Championships at your next feis) then you will forfeit your entry into Sunday s Novice/Prizewinner Trophy Competition (with no fee refund). However, you are still eligible to compete in all solo competitions and specials (treble reel and slip jig). Keeper trophies will be awarded to all who place in the Novice/Prizewinner Trophy competitions on both Saturday and Sunday. Perpetual trophies for these competitions will be awarded to Sunday s winners. We will arrange a different judge for each of these competitions, so the same adjudicator will not judge the same competition twice over the weekend. Double Open Championship Competitions Open Championship dancers are invited to participate in our two open championships. As we are the last feis in Western Canada before the 2018 World Championships, and as there is not another feis in our region until the end of April, the committee thought it was a good time to offer a second opportunity for open dancers to compete as they work hard towards upcoming majors such as Worlds and the NAIDC. In order to differentiate the championships, dancers will be grouped by even-numbered age groups on Saturday, and by odd-numbered age groups on Sunday. Please consult the syllabus for details. Keeper trophies will be awarded to all who place in the Open Championship competitions on both Saturday and Sunday. Perpetual trophies for these competitions will be awarded to Saturday's winners. It is our intent that competitors will be adjudicated by a different panel on each day. Individual judges may overlap however we will do our best to ensure different panels. KIDSPORT TEAM COMPETITION This year we are offering a special team competition and 100% of the proceeds will go to KidSport, which has supported children in this Irish dancesport: KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process we provide grants so they can play a season of sport. Nationally, KidSport is comprised of a network of 11 provincial/territorial KidSport chapters and 178 community KidSport chapters. Since its creation in 1993, over 530,000 kids across the country have been given the chance to play sport through KidSport grants and sport introduction programming.

KIDSPORT TEAM COMPETITION (cont.) Your team can be any 2-hand or 3-hand as long as it is an unusual combination: please do not dance with someone you normally dance teams with. Suggestions include: siblings (who dance or not :), dancers in your class who are 3+ years older / younger than you, parents, pets, etc. Come join us for some team fun and support this very worthy cause! Entry fee is $10 / team. CELTIC ART COMPETITION Artwork entries can be submitted at the designated area. Judging will take place on Sunday over lunch. Please make sure your submission is labeled with your name, competitor number, age, address and telephone number. Please pick up your artwork once the winner has been announced on Sunday. Any medium is allowed. Be creative think outside the box! COSTUME SALES You are welcome to leave solo dresses or waistcoats for sale in our designated costume area for a fee of $10 for a day or the weekend. This area will be monitored by a Howth Society volunteer and costumes will be locked away outside of feis hours. Please be advised that costumes are left at the seller s risk. The Howth Society / PHA will not be responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.
