Marking of security instructions in the operating manual Hints are available in the chapter "safety instructions" or directly before the respective operation instruction. The hints are highlighted with a danger symbol and a signal word. Texts beside these symbols have to be read and adhered to by all means. Please continue with the text and with the handling at the valve only afterwards. Symbol Signal word Meaning DANGER ATTENTION NOTE Imminent danger which may cause severe personal injury or death. Dangerous situation which may cause slight personal injury or material damages. Marks application hints and other information which is particularly useful. ak 12.1.11 Safety informations 2
4. Safety instructions 4.1 Field of application The Sample valve is suitable for the taking samples out of tanks or pipe system in plants of the food and drink industry, pharmaceutical and chemical industries as well as in biotechnology. ATTENTION To avoid danger and damage, the fitting must be used in accordance with the safety instructions and technical data contained in the operating instructions. 4.2 General safety instructions DANGER Dismantling the valve or valve assemblies from the machine can cause injuries from fluids or gases flowing out. Dismantle the valve or valve assembly only when the plant has been rendered pressure-less and free of liquid and gas. Danger of injury from liquids flowing from outlet "B" when opening the sample valve. According to the position of the sample valve, outlet pipes or draining devices must be fitted to achieve splash-free draining. ATTENTION Sample valve is not suitable for aseptic sampling. Sample valve is not suitable for scarf. Seals of the valve could be destroyed by high heat supply. Risk of burning whilst flaming the valve! The valve gets very hot under flaming. Therefore, it may be operated only with protective gloves. When flaming the valve, local fire safety regulations must be followed. Destruction of valve seals during aseptic sampling by flaming the valve. The valve seals can be damaged by excessive heat supply. The valve must be flamed generally by trained personnel. The instructions in the chapter (see 8. Sterilisation on page 4) must be observed. 4.3 General notes NOTE All data are in line with the current state of development. Subject to change as a result of technical progress. 5. Function 6. Installation informations 5.1 Description of function The valve is manually opened by turning it anti-clockwise and closed by turning it clockwise. With an open valve, the product flows out through the outlet pipe (B). 6.1 Installation instructions Fitting position The valve should be installed such that the product can be phased out completely through the outlet pipe (B). NOTE Impurities can cause damage to the seals. Before assembly, thoroughly clean the interior of the housing. Fig. 1 3
7. Maintenance 7.1 Maintenance The maintenance intervals depend on the operating conditions "temperature, temperature-intervals, medium, cleaning medium, pressure and opening frequency". We recommend replacing the seals every 1 years. The user, however should establish appropriate maintenance intervals according to the condition of the seals. NOTE Lubricant recommendation EPDM; Viton; K-flex; NBR; HNBR Silicone Thread Klüber Paraliq GTE703* Klüber Sintheso pro AA2* Interflon Food* *) It is only permitted to use approved lubricants, if the respective fitting is used for the production of food or drink. Please observe the relevant safety data sheets of the manufacturers of lubricants. 7.2 Cleaning The cleaning of the valve occurs over connection 'B'. With concurrent cleaning of the tank or pipe system the valve can be opened. The interior of the valve is cleaned through the outlet pipe (B)(see Fig. 1 /Page 3), wherein the valve is opened when simultaneously cleaning the tank and/or pipe. 8. Sterilisation The valve can be sterilized with flame, steam or liquid. Steam and liquid sterilization The steam or liquid sterilization proceeds though the outlet pipe (B)(see Fig. 1 /Page 3) or during tank or pipe cleaning. Air sterilization by flaming The valve can be sterilized by flaming. This process may take up to 15 seconds for the entire valve. To avoid high temperatures at certain points the flame has to be moved constantly. ATTENTION Risk of burning! The valve gets very hot under flaming. Therefore, it may be operated only with protective gloves. When flaming attention must be paid so that the valve is not exposed to short-time temperature exceeding 130 C, otherwise the sealing material will be destroyed. The valve must be flamed generally by trained personnel. Fig. 2 9. 10. Disassembly and assembly 10.1 Disassembly see Fig. 3 /Page 5 Open the valve spindle (3) completely (anticlockwise), turn one rotation back so that the circlip (4) will be free. Remove the circlip (4) with a circlip pliers. Unscrew the valve spindle (3) out of the housing (5). Remove the cap (1) and the O-ring (2). 11. Drawing 10.2 Assembly Thoroughly clean and slightly lubricate mounting areas and running surfaces. (see 7.1 Maintenance on page 4). Grease slightly the O-ring (2) and install it. Lock the cap (1) on positive-locking profile of the valve spindle (3). Grease slightly over the thread of the spindle (3) and screw in. Install the circlip (4) with tailoring below.
