The weekly event begins March 6 and continues each Sunday during the month (March 6, 13, 20, and 27), offering contemporary and historic maple sugaring demonstrations, children's activities and more. A full pancake breakfast including scrambled eggs, sausage, and home fries is served from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with all other activities scheduled 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Every Sunday in March there are "sweet" activities planned for everyone. Taste hot maple syrup poured over snow, known as jack wax. Children can learn how to tap maple trees. Stop by the Blacksmith Shop to see our talented craftspeople at work and you can warm up while your there. The Empire State Carousel will be spinning, fun to ride and full of information about the people, places, and animals of New York State. Wagon rides are offered from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (weather permitting). At the Children's Barnyard, admire our Heritage breeds of chickens, turkeys, and sheep. Children can also visit with our gentle horses, cows, oxen, and giant rabbits. The Otsego County Maple Producers will be on hand to talk about maple sugaring and offer local maple products for sale. Delicious local maple syrup is served at the Sugaring Off Sundays pancake breakfast! On Easter Sunday, March 27, children can enjoy an egg hunt at 1:00 p.m. Kids 12 and under will search for eggs hidden throughout our historic village. Prizes will be awarded including a special prize for the one finding the elusive Golden Egg a pass good for free rides on the Empire State Carousel all season long.
