airfix expansion vessels Your reliable partner 4 Airfix Pressure expansion vessels for sanitary appliances and potable water systems AIRFIX A AIRFIX AIRFIX -E AIRFIX P Edition EXP 2009

Flamco offers you a wide choice in the field of The use of offers the user a number of important advantages. Airfix A and Airfix expansion vessels are through-flow vessels, meaning that they are specially constructed so that they regularly rinse themselves with fresh mains water. In this way, still, stagnant water, which is associated with the formation of detrimental bacteria, is eliminated from the equation. As a result, the quality of the potable water is preserved. As the interior of the vessel is coated there is no chance of the water coming into contact with untreated steel even in the event of damage to the internal diaphragm. Therefore, should the diaphragm become damaged the water will remain uncontaminated. By using the Airfix A and expansion vessels, you can also limit water wastage. AIRFIX A The Airfix A expansion vessel is supplied with a synthetic flow divider, suitable for T-pieces for pipes of max. 3 /4 (22 mm). This flow divider is placed in the standard T-piece (which is not included in the tank supply). The Airfix A expansion vessel and T-piece assembly must be fitted in the cold-water installation of the boiler and through-flow is established. USER AVANTAGES AIRFIX A AN AIRFIX u Very easy to fit. u Covered inside and out with an anti-corrosion coating, both in the water half and the nitrogen half. u Neither the diaphragm nor the coating give off any dye, smell or taste to the water; both have been approved by CE and the VGW (in Germany). u Can be used with any storage water heater. u Can also be used in pressure boosting systems. u Fitted with a butyl rubber membrane. Tables with types and technical information: page 4.7. 4.2

expansion vessels for potable water installations Without an expansion vessel for sanitary appliances, the safety-valve (inlet combination) will leak water every time water is heated causing water wastage on each occasion. This significantly heightens the chance of lasting leakage as a result of pollution or calcium deposits building up in the area of the valve seat. This kind of serious water loss can now be stemmed by using an Airfix A or Airfix expansion vessel. AIRFIX All Airfix A and Airfix vessels are white in colour. Both butyl rubber diaphragm and vessel coating are internationally approved for use in combination with drinking water, meeting the CE standards (2002/16/EC). A reliable clamp construction which damages neither the vessel nor the diaphragm while allowing conservation of the entire vessel surface, something which is unthinkable in welded vessels without flanges. Airfix vessels use a special T-piece (supplied) which aids through-flow with its internal divider to ensure full through-flow in the vessel. An AirfixControl is fitted between the vessel and T-piece, enabling the Airfix vessel to be de-pressurized for maintenance work without the need for the installation to be put out of commission. The vessel pre-pressure must be 0.2 bar lower than the pressure behind the pressure-reducing valve in the cold water pipe in order to guarantee a proper flow. Internal coating prevents corrosion, even in case of a faulty membrane. irections on how to fit the Airfix pressure expansion vessel Airfix A or Airfix expansion vessels should always be used with a Prescor B boiler valve. The vessel must be mounted in the cold-water pipe, between the Prescor valve and boiler. Airfix A or with Prescor B boiler valve 4.3

Logical Airfix technology offers the user significant advantages The Airfix -E expansion tank can be used in pressure boosting systems, on either the intake or compression sides of the pumps. These installations are intended to prevent excessively low feeding pressure and help prevent excessive pressure changes at low flow speeds. At the same time, they reduce the number of times the pressure-water assembly needs to be switched. The Airfix -E expansion tank offers the precise solution for this. Airfix -E Pressure expansion tanks with exchangeable diaphragms, suitable for use in hot-water, pressure boosting and water-management systems. The Airfix -E is a solid, stable tank which is easy to fit. It is a through-flow tank with two flange connections which has an exchangeable butyl diaphragm. The high-quality material of which the diaphragm is constructed is your guarantee of low permeability (which means that your gas will not leak away) and if used correctly, renders permeability negligible. Airfix -E tanks are fitted standard with an electronic diaphragm-rupture sensor and an internally-coated steel through-flow flange. USER AVANTAGES AIRFIX -E u Very easy to fit. u Covered inside and out with an anti-corrosion coating, both in the water half and the nitrogen half. u Neither the diaphragm nor the coating give off any dye, smell or taste to the water; both have been approved by CE and the VGW (in Germany). u Can be used with any storage water heater. u Can also be used in pressure boosting systems. AIRFIX -E AIRFIX -E-B AIRFIX -E-L Inspection port (from 600 litres above and below). Pressure gauge with self-sealing valve case and an Rp 3 /80 IN 2999-1 connection to the tank itself. iaphragm-rupture sensor, basic appliance, display with red LE indicating diaphragm rupture. Maximum permissible gas prepressure on delivery: 6 bars. Maximum working pressures 10 and 16 bar. Airfix -E tanks are coated green. iaphragm-rupture sensor including signal cable. The Airfix -E diaphragm expansion tank has a gas space between the tank wall and the exterior of the membrane, and a water space within the diaphragm. The configuration of the gas space depends on the operating characteristics and the required pressure. A pressure boost in the water space will compress the gas volume and fill the diaphragm, while a reduction in pressure will lead to draining of water. Should the pressure in the gas space reach the set water pressure in the installation, water will be drained from the connection pipe. In all operating conditions, water flows through the tank with a very low loss of pressure. See the pressure loss diagrams that are available as PF files on the C. Airfix -E-B For pressure boosting, potable household, processing or fire-extinguishing installations. Single steel threaded connection (without through-flow function) and without electronic membrane-rupture sensor. All materials used in this tank are potable water quality. Airfix -E ouble system connection the link with the connection pipe. Airfix -E-L ouble system connection with through-flow function. For use in hotwater, pressure boosting and watermanagement systems. 4.5

Airfix P: the series of expansion vessels for pressure boosting installations Airfix P expansion vessels are suitable for potable water, processing water and fire fighting water installations in the event that oxygen-rich water is used, and are available in contents between 2 litres and 5,000 litres, partially available in horizontal models. Airfix P tanks comply with the requirements of European Pressure Equipment irective 97/23/EC. AIRFIX P AIRFIX P AIRFIX P Male thread connection. Bladder made of butyl rubber. Steel tank in RAL 9006. System connection. The maximum operating pressure is 10 bar. Maximum continuous operating temperature at the bladder is 70 C. All tanks are fitted with an exchangeable bladder. The tank connection is not a flow-through type. Airfix P models 750 up to 5000 are fitted with a pressure gauge. AVANTAGES OF TE AIRFIX P: u Wide range of products suitable for many applications. u Available as both vertical and horizontal configurations. u as WRc and ACS approval.
