Height certificates must be carried at all times whilst competing. Exhibitors enter classes in more than one section at their own risk. PERSONAL INFORMATION & PRIVACY The Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania collects personal information from exhibitors in competitions conducted by the Society. Verification of the accuracy of this data may be obtained through contact with the RAST. This information is used only for the purpose related to the conduct of the events run by the Society and is not divulged to third parties. However, entrant s names and contact details may be released to duly authorised parties in respect to matters of animal health and safety. The names of exhibitors may be included in catalogues published by the Society and successful exhibitors names released for general publication. COMPETITORS ARE TO COMPLY WITH THE ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF TASMANIA CONDITIONS OF ENTRY AND GENERAL REGULATIONS IN ADDITION TO THESE SHOW REGULATIONS ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES The Society reserves the right to accept or reject any entry without assigning any reason. Exhibitors entering their horses do so entirely at their own risk, and it is a condition of entry that no liability of any kind attaches itself to the Society, its Council Officers, Officials or Members in any respect whatsoever, other than the liability for refund of entry fees in the event of abandonment of any competition. COMBINING OF CLASSES Should special circumstances arise, the RAST reserves the right to combine classes, vary conditions and alter classes as it sees fit. The judge will also have the right to transfer entries from one class to another. RULES Jumping and Pony Club events are conducted under the rules and regulations of the FEI, Equestrian Australia (EA) and Pony Club Association of Tasmania (PCAT). RAST Regulations also apply. EA rules apply to current EA members. Show Horse Council (SHC) rules apply to SHC members. Royal Hobart Show is a qualifier for Grand Nationals 2015. Winners of each child s mount class is eligible for Grand National Child Mount classes 2015. MEMBERSHIP Exhibitors entering in saddle classes MUST BE a current financial member of the EA or Show Horse Council. PERFORMANCE Qualifying performances are NOT required for entry in the 2015 Royal Hobart Show, unless specified in the individual class details MEASURING All horses entered for the Royal Hobart Show, with the exception of breed/colour classes must have a current height certificate issued by EA Tasmania measurers or Show Horse Council Tasmania measurers height certificates must be carried at all times whilst competing. RIDER AGE as from 1 st January all classes Age of rider is as at 1st January in the year of competition. All riders in child s mount classes must be under 17 years of age on day of competition. PROTESTS Protests may only be made by exhibitors with exhibits in the class to which the protest relates. Exhibitors may enter a protest by lodging it in writing at the RAST site office within three hours of the completion of the event to which the protest relates. Protests must be accompanied by a deposit of $50. The RAST Rules and Protest Committee will consider the protest as soon as practicable and will advise the exhibitor of its decision. If a protest is upheld, the deposit will be returned to the exhibitor. The decision of this committee is final. JUDGE'S AUTHORITY Judges may send off a horse which, in their opinion, is unfit to be entered in the class being judged. Exhibitors are not to approach any judge without prior approval from that judge s steward, the Chief Steward or the Ringmaster, except as required by the judge during the conduct of a class. RIDING CLASSES All riders & horses must be nominated at the time of entry. ACCEPTABLE ATTIRE Riders must be suitably attired at all times while on the arena. Current ASA approved helmets/hats must be worn at all times whilst mounted, unless specifically exempted for a class in the show schedule. Long boots are not to be worn by riders under the age of 17. SADDLERY All saddlery and gear must be suitable, safe and properly fitted. Bearing reins, balance reins, draw reins, running reins or similar devices are not permitted at any time on the showgrounds. Side reins are only permitted while lunging. EXHIBIT NUMBER Exhibit numbers will be posted to exhibitors on acceptance of entries. Every exhibit whilst in the ring or within a marshalling area must display its exhibit number. Ridden exhibits are to display their exhibit number either in a correctly fitted breast plate on the exhibit or conspicuously on the rider s left arm. SWABBING Random swabbing may be undertaken during the show, conducted in accordance with RAST requirements. STALLIONS Stallions will only be allowed on to the arena if they are in the charge of a responsible person 18 years of age or over. Stallions and colts two years and older must wear a bridle with a suitable bit and be kept under control at all times. Stallions may compete in jumping only. HORSE CONTROL Any horse which in the opinion of the Chief Steward is not under adequate control will be sent off the arena. Royal Hobart Show ~ Equestrian Schedule

LEADING REIN Stallions are ineligible for leading rein. The rider is to be from 5 to under 8 years of age. The mount is to be 12hh or under. Riders in Leading Rein classes are ineligible to compete in any other type of ridden class. Mounts are eligible to compete in other classes. A snaffle bridle is to be used. The leading rein is to be fixed to the noseband. Reins are to go directly to the rider s hands. No string or any other aids fastened to the saddle to keep the pony s head in position are permitted. No spurs or whips. The handler may carry a cane. Riders should be able to rise to the trot. Clothing and equipment is to be similar to a Turnout but judged as a Smartest on Parade. Either the handler or the rider is to be a current member of EA or Show Horse Council. FIRST RIDDEN No spurs or whips permitted. PONY CLUB EVENTS Team entries will only be accepted from the Club s District Commissioners. Pony Club riders wishing to compete in individual hacking & jumping classes should enter on the form provided (or online), noting the name of their Pony Club so membership can be verified. Any enquiries about Pony Club classes should be directed to the Club s District Commissioner rather than the Show Society. Pony Club membership number must be given Age of rider is as at 1st January in the year of competition. Pony Club uniforms shall be worn, including PCAT approved safety helmets. Snaffle bit shall be used, a drop, cavesson or hanoverian noseband are permitted. Charlton Shield Scoring will be done on a 4, 2, 1, ½ basis with 1st place in each discipline scoring 4, 2nd place scoring 2 and so on. The highest placed team only of a club to get points. Clubs to share trophy in event of a tie. Ribbons awarded to actual placegetters. All members shall be bona fide members of the Club they represent. They must be under 25 years of age on 1st January in year of competition and must be riding a horse owned or leased by themselves or another member of the Club. There is no height limit for horses. Both horse & rider must meet Pony Club qualifying standards. The word Member refers to Members and Associates. Scramble teams are eligible to compete in team events. Rider and horse names to be nominated at time of entry. Clubs may enter more than one team in the Games, Team riding or Jumping competition, but they must nominate which club teams which will be competing for the Charlton Shield by 8.30am on the day. Must include Team of three and either Games Team or Jumping Team PONY CLUB TEAM JUMPING Maximum starting height will be 90cm. All entries in the two round championships must have completed two competitions at no less than 90cm during the previous 12 months. Maximum start height for the second round will be 100 cm. Winning rider in the team jumping will be awarded Champion Pony Club Show Jumper sash. Individual Pony Club Jumping to commence after the Team Jumping INDIVIDUAL PONY CLUB JUMPING: Article 238.2.1 Competition against the clock athletes with equal penalties for any place are placed in accordance with time taken to complete the round. Article 238.2.2 Competition against the Clock In the event of equalities for first place there will be one jump off against the clock. Pairs Jumping: Two riders to take part in a course containing 10 jumps. One rider to jumps the odd numbered jumps at a height of 65cm, the second rider to jump the even numbered jumps at a height of 85cm. Both riders cross the start line together. Jumps must be taken in sequence (ie Rider 2 cannot jump number 2 until rider 1 has been jumped number 1. Only the rider who jumps the last fence to pass through finish line to record time taken. Fastest time with least faults will be declared the winning team. Riders may enter 2 classes only plus the Pairs Jumping. SHOW JUMPING Classes will be conducted according to the current Equestrian Australia Rules for Show Jumping i.e. EA National Jumping Rules, effective 1 August 2015. Reference may also be made to current FEI jumping rules (25th Edition, updated 1 January 2015) Horses may compete in 3 classes on Friday and 3 classes on Saturday. Horses will jump in drawn order for all classes. Competitors will be emailed a copy of the draw prior to the show where an email address is provided. Riders competing in 193, 194, 197, 199, 204, 205 must be members of EA (Participant Member or Competition Member) OR of an EA affiliated club such as Show Jumping Tasmania. Horses in these classes are not required to be registered with EA. Horses competing in all other classes must be registered with EA and hold a current/validated Competition Licence and riders must be a Competitor Member of EA. Competition Licences must be carried at all times by horses competing in official classes and must be available for inspection upon request at any time. Competition licences must be presented to the judge prior to presentation of prizes for each class. Competitors in class 204 & 205 will be run concurrently with separate draw. Competitors in Class 205 may not enter 204. Royal Hobart Show ~ Equestrian Schedule

Attire. As per EA National Rules Article 256, 1.5 i.e. formal attire. Riders are expected to follow the EA guideline relating to correct dress as per 256, 1.1 1.4 & 1.6 at all times. Rider numbers must be worn by all competitors when riding in jumping classes. Young rider. A rider is a young rider from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 16 years, until the end of the calendar year in which they reach 18 years of age. The highest placed Young Rider in Class 202, the open Championship will be awarded the Champion Young Rider 2015 Junior Rider. All riders under the age of 18 at the beginning of the calendar year. A rider ceases to be a junior rider at the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 18 years. Open Rider. All riders over the age of 18 years at the end of the current calendar year. Presentations: All Presentations must be mounted and held directly at the conclusion of the event. Competition Licenses must be presented to the judge prior to any prize money or goods being given out. PROTESTS Show Jumping Matters relating to protests are covered by Article 163 of EA General Regulations. Any protest must be lodged with the Judge within 30 minutes of the announcement of the result of a competition. Also, any protest must be submitted in writing and accompanied by a deposit of $150.00 NOVICE Novices are exhibits or competitors, as is appropriate for the relevant class, who have not won a first place award at a Royal Show or a Royal National Show. REFUNDS Entry fees will not be refunded other than in exceptional cases and where a veterinary certificate is supplied. A refund, less 25% administration fee, will be at the discretion of the Equestrian Committee. All applications under these conditions must be received at the RAST office by Tuesday of the week following the Royal Hobart Show. This ruling will not apply where entries are not accepted by the RAST. HORSE AGE The age of horses is to date from 1 August in each year. Every horse foaled before 1 August in any year shall be deemed to be one year old on that date. HORSE CLASSIFICATION Exhibits can be shown in either the Show Hunter OR the Show Horse section. The same exhibit cannot be entered in both sections. PRIZE MONEY Prize money for Hacks Galloways, Large Ponies and Small Ponies in saddle classes is as follows: 1st - $30, 2nd - $15, 3rd - $10. Prize money for Junior Mounted Turnout: 1st - $50, 2nd - $25. Prize money for Show Jumping classes are specified in the class schedule. All other award prize monies are detailed in the Special Awards section. CLEANING OF LOOSEBOXES Exhibitors are to keep each loose-box allocated to them and their horses in a clean and proper condition throughout the duration of their stay at the Show. Loose-boxes are to be cleaned out before 8:00am each day. MANURE All manure is to be picked up from horse area. Failure to do so may result in a fine to the exhibitor. LUNGING Lunging is not allowed on any part of the arena at any time prior or during the Royal Hobart Show. HORSES ON THE ARENA Only those horses competing on the day are permitted on the arena while events are underway. DOGS Dogs are not permitted. PLACINGS RAST ribbons will be awarded as follows, at the Judge s discretion, for placings in individual classes: 1st - Blue, 2nd - Red, 3rd - White, 4th - Yellow, 5th - Green. All first place winners are eligible for the relevant Champion award within their section, unless otherwise stated in the class listings. The exhibit that is placed second to the selected Champion in its qualifying class is eligible for Reserve Champion. Royal Hobart Show ~ Equestrian Schedule

BREED/COLOUR CLASSES Any Breed class MUST HAVE more than two entries in a breed section class. If two or more entries are not entered then the entry will be combined/moved to Any Other Breed The exhibitor must be the legal owner or lessee of each horse listed by them on the entry form at the time of entry and on the date of showing. All horses must be registered, in the exhibitor s name, with an RAST recognised association, or a Tasmanian based affiliate association, at the time of entry. Exhibits must be entered in the same name as that on their registration certificate. The Any Other Registered Breed section is for pure-bred exhibits only, listed below, and does not include colour registrations. Entry is open only to exhibits which cannot be shown in any other listed breed class under any other registration. Exhibitors should contact the RAST if at all unsure about eligibility for entry in this section. Registrations pending will not be accepted. Recognised associations for breed and colour registrations included in this schedule are listed below.
