We also suggest looking into a flight to Idaho Falls as they can be cheaper. Just keep in mind Idaho Falls is about 2 hours from Jackson. Either way we reccommend renting a car as there is so much to see and do in this area! With both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks a vehicle will allow you to do and see so much more while making Jackson Hole your home base.

Jackson hole, WY OR IS IT JUST JACKSON? WHERE AM I EXACTLY? The town of Jackson was named for a prominent fur trapper by the name of Davey Jackson, who spent winters in the area during the 1820 s. Mountain Man Rendezvous were held in the area during this time as a gathering for fur trappers and traders to trade their wares. Davey Jackson and his colleagues William Sublette and Robert Campbell frequented the upper Snake River and the surrounding areas for about a decade, eventually selling out by 1830 and returning to Missouri with a nice profit. The early fur trappers referred to valleys as holes. This area was originally referred to as Jackson s Hole, named after Davey Jackson. Over time, the apostrophe s was dropped and the valley here is now known as Jackson Hole with the town of Jackson located in the middle of the valley.

yellowstone National Park Yellowstone National Park was signed into law by US President Ulysses S Grant in spring of 1872. It is the first National Park in the United States and is widely held to be the first national park in the world. Yellowstone National Park is one of the most visited parks in the American National Park system and is known for its vibrant ecosystem and geothermal features. Accessible by car in the summertime and snow-machine in the wintertime, Yellowstone National Park sees an average of 3.5 million visitors each year from all over the world. In fact, Grand Teton National Park s ecosystem still supports flora and fauna found here in pre-historic times.
