DEUBA COASTAL SEA KAYAKING Exploreing on of Fiji s beautiful coastlines is fun and easy in our two-person sea kayaks. The adventure begins east of Pacific Harbour where the Navua River and the Deuba River have created a lush, thriving mangrove forest. Our guides will familiarize you with your paddle and kayak before venturing onto this coastal waterway. Your journey begins with a relaxed paddle through the tunnels and tranquil waters of a mangrove forest. En route, you may spot some of the local denizens that make this unique ecosystem their home: mud lobsters, herons, harrier hawks, kingfishes, and fruit bats. As the calm waters of the mangroves give way to the ocean, sandy beaches beckon you to shore for a break. Your guides prepare lunch while you enjoy a cold drink, a refreshing swim and a peaceful rest in the sun. Afterwards, its time to set a course for the open sea. Leaving the mainland behind, you ll paddle the warm, blue waters of Rovodrau Bay with dramatic views over Beqa and Yanuca Islands rising in the distance. Your guides will lead you to a nearby reef, where you can snorkel with a kaleidoscope of tropical fish among the brilliantly colored corals. Continuing on, your course takes you to the white sand beaches and rolling waves of Pacific Harbour and the conclusion of your journey.
BEQA ISLAND SEA KAYAKING Sea kayaking is just one of many adventures that make your trip to Beqa Island a unique offshore adventure! First, you ll cruise across the Beqa Passage in a private charter boat, enjoying spectacular views of the mainland s mountainous interior and palm-fringed coastline. As we near Beqa the island of Fiji s famed fire walkers quaint seaside villages and the steep volcanic cliffs of Malumu Bay come into views. In the protected waters of the bay our guides provide a brief orientation to the kayaks and equipment you ll be using before you paddle off in search of fun and adventure. Beqa s lush, cliff-lined interior shelters peaceful bays, perfect for leisurely paddling and wildlife observation. Inside this hidden lagoon you re likely to see hundred of fruit bats clinging to the surrounding trees, as well as a variety of other birdlife. Tides permitting we will continue to the end of the bay where a hidden mangrove passage will lead us to the ocean and coral reefs on the southern side of the island. The views here are expansive and on a clear day the islands of Kadavu will be visible. The afternoon is spend enjoying our picnic lunch, snorkeling a fantastic reef with a kaleidoscope of colorful fish and corals, kayaking the surrounding coastline and relaxing on a picture perfect beach. As the day comes to close, you ll board our chartered boat for the return trip back to the big island of Viti Levu. Keep your eyes peeled as we cross the deep waters of Beqa Passage for the pods of pilot whales and dolphins that can often be seen navigating the same waters. Enjoy a cool drink, a refreshing breeze and, with luck, a golden sky as we make our way home.
