OUR STORY Essence of the Martial Arts takes you to the very birthplace of were life itself was first conceived. From the walls of pyramid temples we share with you how Martial Arts was taught and practiced by the Egyptians in the lands of Africa at a time long before this art form was hand carried to other parts of our world. We explore multiple Martial Arts styles as we give you a brief history of how each art form has evolved to become what it is now, and possibly what it may become in the near future. We only ask that you keep an open mind, sit back, relax, and let us welcome you into the Essence of the Martial Arts.
Nijel Binns Binns entered the U.S. Air Force and left it in 1980 to start a movie career where he appeared as a stunt man in Jackie Chan s first American movie The Battle Creek Brawl. He has since worked as an actor, stunt man and stunt coordinator, applying his love of movement and the martial arts to film under the tutelage of such directors as Enter The Dragon s Robert Clouse, and with such veteran stunt coordinators as Pat Johnson and Terry Leonard. But even with a promising film career, Binns knew that art was where he could leave his most impressionable mark. Lateef Crowder Lateef Crowder Dos Santos was born on November 23, 1977 in Sao Salvador, Bahia, Brasil. Lateef moved to San Jose, California, USA as a child. He is of Afro-Brazilian descent and a member of the Zero Gravity Stunt Team. Lateef is known for his work on The Hunger Games (2012), Captain America: Civil War (2016) and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). Ahmses Sa Ra Maat; (Sheldon Smith aka, Bubu) Is a child of ancestral spiritual and warrior legacy. Dr. Ahmses Maat As a pre-teen, he trained in the Beaver County School of Self Defense under the careful watch of Guru Willy J.C. Wetzel, Ahmses grew in skills, not only as an expert in martial arts, but he also learned how to mystically biofeedback many symptoms away. The use of meditation, self hypnosis and Chinese medicine for pain control was useful during his rigorous training. Dr. Ahmses has been very successful in the Karate sports arena in winning multiple Junior and adult Black Belt Grand Championships.
PRODUCER, June Do Born Willie Conners; Actor; Producer; Writer; Director, Philosopher and evolving Martial Artist known professionally as June Do. June Do began his Martial Arts career in the early 70 s at the age of 12; when he started taking classes at the local YMCA. He found his interest in the sport while watching movies featuring one of the most influential Martial Artist of all times Lee Jun-Fan who went by the more recognizable name of Bruce Lee. June Do later received a Black Belt in the Korean form of Tae Kwon Do and has been exposed to Chinese Martial Arts; such as Kung Fu; Wing Chun and Crane Style. It was during this time he began to build his background in researching the true origins of the Martial Arts while also becoming a Philosopher. June Do, who is bi-racial (Puerto Rican and African American) was introduced to the film industry at a young age like Lee. June appeared in his first movie in 2004 when he was casted in an independent film produced by Bonita Entertainment, LLC called Who s Making the Rules? written and produced by Tony Washington. Not only did he have an intriguing part as a Law Enforcement Officer; he was also the stunt coordinator for the project. As the Writer and Producer of the poignant; informative and educational documentary Essence of the Martial Arts June Do is excited about the 2017 release of his project; with updated dialogue and new scenes that will make you question what you thought you knew about the martial arts industry and become more interested in the sport; as well as its history.
Co Executive PRODUCER, Tony Washington Tony is the President and CEO of Bonita Entertainment and has primarily focused on writing and producing one of a kind feature films. Tony has been credited for writing and producing: Who's Making the Rules, The Essence of the Martial Arts, How Can an Angel Take My Heart. Tony has co-produced the soon to be released feature films What Profits a Man and Sea of Dreams. Tony has acted in several feature films such as AI, Artificial Intelligence (Haley Joel Osment, Jude Law), Ali (Will Smith, Jamie Fox), Training Day (Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke), along with TV shows such as: MTV s Who Knows The Band, ER, West Wing, 24, NYPD Blue. Tony has also been part of and worked along side of many production teams of several independent films. Co Executive PRODUCER, Rodney Ealy In the late 80's and 90's Rodney Ealy released several captivating and extraordinary music videos. In 2003 he partnered with JP Webster in creating 21 BEC Business Education Consortium, combining Bonita Entertainment LLC as the media platform. Rodney, continued working with Bonita Entertainment LLC producing Who s Making the Rules, along with What Profits a Man that won Best Short Film at the 2017 Charlotte Black Film Festival. In addition to being Co-Executive Producer of the documentary: The Essence of the Martial Arts, which is scheduled to be aired this fall of 2017 on Black Belt TV the Martial Arts Network channel.
