STANDARDBRED PLEASURE & PERFORMANCE HORSE ASSOCIATION OF S.A. Inc. STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY) 1. All new registrations and memberships to SPPHASA Inc. must be received by the membership and registration officer by 13 th February 2015, to enable processing before close of entries on 6th March 2015. NO EXCEPTIONS 2. The lodging of any entry shall bind the exhibitor to the conditions of entry and the regulations set out here in and the signature of any exhibitor on the entry form shall constitute acceptance of these conditions. Only the original copy of the entry form will be accepted. This means NO email entries accepted. Post only. 3. SPPHASA Inc. Committee shall have the power without giving reason to: a. Reject or cancel any entry at any time, alter the program, the scheduled event or class start time b. Remove any exhibitor from the show grounds for displaying abuse towards their horse, combine or split any classes 4. Horses competing in open ridden events are ineligible to compete in Walk/Trot events. Riders are eligible for rider classes in one ring only. 5. Horses that are in their first year of showing are eligible for Newcomer classes, i.e. horses who have not competed in a show before. If entered for Newcomer classes, they are then ineligible to compete in other classes in that category. Colts/Stallions are not permitted in Newcomer classes. 6. A Newcomer Year is based on the calendar year. With this new ruling, we are allowing a grace period for the 2015 season. A horse entered in Newcomer for 2015 must not have competed in a show previous to August 2014. Horses that have been competed in ANY EVENT under saddle previous to August 2014 are NOT eligible. 7. Novice is for riders who have never won a first place at any show in a similar event. 8. Owner/Handler (or Rider) means that the horse must be registered in the name of the exhibitor. OR if the exhibitor is a minor, the horse must be owned by one of their immediate family members. 9. Currently Racing is for horses that have raced in 2015. This includes horses that have since retired. 10. Due to the nature of the points system in place, a combination (horse and rider) must choose to be entered in only ONE Newcomer, Mare, Gelding or Stallion classes. And only ONE of Child s, Owner/Rider, and Currently Racing where eligible. This is AS WELL as the Newcomer, Mare, Gelding and Stallion class they are entered in. 11. Classes will be awarded State Champion, Runner Up State Champion, 3 rd, 4 th, 5 th, 6 th 12. All Exhibits are to be registered with SPPHA, and All Exhibitors must be current financial members of SPPHA. The registration and membership numbers must be quoted on the entry form. Pending registrations and memberships are not acceptable. 13. Members of SPPHA outside of South Australia are required to send photocopies of membership and/or registration as proof of current membership. 14. All Exhibits must be able to be identified by their brands and or markings in accordance with the Certificate of Registration. Change of coat colour or adding white markings is prohibited and may result in disqualification. 15. Stallions and Colts will not be permitted to be handled, ridden, or driven by any person under 18years whilst on the show grounds. Stallions must be fitted with correctly fitting headgear, and correctly fitting bit. Stallions are to be double tied when tied to floats or trucks. 16. Number holders are to be worn by all exhibits when competing. Numbers will be supplied. 17. Rings will not be held for competitors with clashing classes. However, every endeavour will be made to ensure that clashes don t occur. 18. Please clean up manure and hay. Float areas must be left as exhibitors arrived. 19. No dogs are permitted onto the grounds. 20. SPPHASA Inc. will not be held responsible for loss of or damage or injury occasioned to any exhibitor or the property of any exhibitor for any cause what so ever. 21. The exhibitor and exhibits enter entirely at their own risk. In any case of an exhibit, whilst on the showgrounds causing or being the cause of injury or damage to any other exhibitor or exhibit, OR to the person or property of 2
ANY member of SPPHASA Inc., its officers, officials and members from and against all damages, costs, claims, expenses or liabilities incurred with such an incident. The exhibitor shall be liable to SPPHASA Inc. its officers, officials and members for any damage or loss occasioned to any of them by the exhibit or exhibitors or agents. 22. When mounted or in the driving seat, all riders and drivers must wear properly fitted ASA approved helmets with chinstraps fastened in accordance with SPPHASA Risk Management Policy. 23. All handlers must wear closed footwear at all times. 24. Horses must move at WALKING pace at all times when outside the exhibition ring or exercise area. 25. Hot weather policy applies. In accordance with Channel 7 news the Friday before the event (20 th March 2015), should the forecast be 38 degrees or over, the event will be cancelled / postponed. Details of cancellation / postponement will be advertised on the SPPHASA website and Facebook page on the weekend of the show. 26. Entry Fees (less $10 Admin Levy) will only be refunded upon production of a Veterinary Certificate or doctor s certificate verifying that an entered horse or rider is unfit to compete. 27. SPPHASA Inc. reserves the right to test any exhibit to determine whether any drug or stimulant has been administered to such exhibit. SPPHASA shall not be liable for death, injury or damage, which may be sustained by an exhibit due to this test being carried out. 28. Points awarded towards the state highpoint awards for the 2014 SPPHASA State Championships will be as follows: Supreme State Champion = 15 points State Champion = 12 points Runner Up = 9 points Third Place = 7 points Fourth Place = 6 points Fifth Place = 5 points Sixth Place = 3 points Points are NOT cumulative. Whatever your highest placing is in that class/category is your final points. Eg. If you win Supreme Led, you get 15 points total for those classes, not 27 (State Champion + Supreme points). If at any time you are unsure of your ability to perform / complete an activity, you should consider discontinuing that activity or seek advice from the judge, leader, or a member of the spphasa committee. STANDARDBRED OFF THE TRACK SA SERIES FINAL 2015 Run in conjunction with the SPPHASA Standardbred State Championships Show, Sunday 22 nd March 2015. Grand Final Judging Judge may ride qualified horses in the final. If judge does not ride exhibits, competitors will be asked to do an individual workout Walk, trot canter on both reins for Open horses, and walk, trot on both reins for Walk/Trot horses. The horse will finish with a halt and salute to the Judge/s. All riders must create their own workout to music for NO MORE than two minutes. In the event of one rider going through to the final with more than one horse they must nominate a substitute rider. They must use a separate entry form for each combination. An exhibitor may not knowingly exhibit a horse that has been bred, sold, leased or produced by the judge or his/her employer An exhibit may not show a horse judged by any member of his/her immediate family.
