Checklist of things needed to register your family for VH Ski/Snowboarding Club Questions? hspencer@rochester.k12.mi.us I. The following should be dropped off in a sealed envelope, PRIOR TO THE FIRST SKI/SNOWBOARDING OUTING, in the main office basket (VH Ski/Snowboarding Club) 1) Fill out the VH Ski and Snowboarding Registration form, along with a check covering the necessary membership fees. One check should be made out to RCS. ***Fees include: $30 club fee for each VH student and $22 Pine Knob fee for each member (students and adults)**** 2) Pine Knob Rental Agreement Form (ONLY IF RENTING PINE KNOB EQUIPMENT). 3) Copy of ID (student ID or Driver s License) is required if you are renting PK equipment. 4) Fill out Club Fee Contract (found on VH Ski/Snowboard club webpage). Club fee applies ONLY to middle school students. ****Fee: $30 per VH student**** Registration forms will be accepted at Pine Knob (after the club s first outing.) in the Pinery Café. ****PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF REGISTRATION FORMS IN THE MAIN OFFICE AFTER DECEMBER! **** NOTE: Membership card(s) will be given to all members on the first outing @ Pine Knob. Arrangements can be made if members want their membership card(s) prior to the first outing. II. Other important things to remember: 1) Sign up for reminder 101 to get all text alerts. Private schools, as well as elementary students without a club are all welcomed (non VH students are still required to pay RCS club). 3) Adams High School DOES NOT have a ski/snowboard club, so all Adams student are welcomed to join the VH Club. You don t need to be a VH student to join the club. Bring all your registration information to Pine Knob. 5) Student club members get discounted lift tickets and rentals all season long M-F (even after the club stops meeting as a group). However, discounted tickets are not available to adult members unless the club sponsor is @ Pine Knob. ***Adult club members DO NOT GET discounted lift or rental all season long. They only get $5 off a lift ticket.*** 6) DO NOT DROP OFF WEEKLY PAYMENT/RENTAL FORM IN THE MAIN OFFICE BASKET- Please bring it to Pine Knob. Any forms left in the office will not be picked up prior to the weekly outing. 7) If you want your membership prior to the first outing, you can email me (hspencer@rochester.k12.mi.us) and arrangements can be made to pick up all your Pine Knob Membership Card(s). 8) Please read the fine print on the Pine Knob membership card. Additional Ski/SB Club information can be found on the Van Hoosen homepage (select School Menu, then Student Activities then scroll down and select Ski and Snowboarding Club ) Club Sponsor: Hanan Spencer (RCS teacher) Contact info: hspencer@rochester.k12.mi.us General Club/Membership Fees: (Please note, there are two memberships fees (PK and RCS). 1) RCS Club Fee is $30.00 per VH student 2) Pine Knob (PK) Ski Club Membership fee $22.00 per member. Part of the proceeds from the Club fee will include a weekly $5 gift card drawing (two drawing each week). Student, sibling and adult cards are also available (same price - $22.00). Explanation of Membership Fees: RCS Club Fee: Only middle school students are required to pay this fee. Pine Knob Club Membership Fee: All members are required to pay this fee. It provides members with a Pine Knob discount card, which allows student members (18 and under) to ski on non-club day/night (M-F, after 3pm) for a discounted rate ($20 lift ticket). Adult members only get $5 off on non-club day/night M - F. No weekend discounts! PK Membership card includes 1 free snowboard lesson or 2 free ski lessons (depends on the card you purchase). o Holiday Rates: Dec 22 nd m - Jan 2 nd **Discounted Club Rates not available** Club members may use their membership card at the ticket window for $5 discount on lift tickets. No discounts on rentals. Weekly Fees: Every person MUST purchase a lift ticket. The other fees vary from depend on your personal needs. Lift ticket $20 payable to Pine Knob Ski rental $20 payable to Pine Knob Snowboard Rental $20 payable to Pine Knob (Copy of photo ID is REQUIRED with registration) Helmet rental $10 payable to Pine Knob Patches $2.50 payable to Pine Knob (club will cover cost of 1 st patch) All Pine Knob payments should be combined into one check that includes driver s license # & phone #. Cash is also accepted. Ticket purchases are available from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Pinery Café (second level) The sponsor leaves Pine Knob @ 7pm. Members arriving after 7pm will need to purchase their tickets at the sales window. ADULT MEMBER WILL NOT RECEIVE DISCOUNTED RATES @ THE TICKET WINDOW. Only STUDENTS can purchase club rates at the window after 7:00 p.m. Pine Knob will NOT sell discount tickets or rentals at the window to members on club nights from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Safety: All participants are strongly encouraged to wear helmets (snowboarders should also wear wrist guards). This sport, like many others, carries with it some inherent risks. Neither the club sponsors nor Rochester Community Schools will be held responsible for anything involving your student s (or any family member) actions or their health while at Pine Knob. All necessary contacts will be made (prior to 7pm) if an injury does occur and it will be the responsibility of the parent to arrive at Pine Knob to take any necessary actions. Membership Card: When you have received your membership card, DO NOT LOSE IT. If lost, you will be required to purchase a new card. Remember this card provides members with discounted pricing on non-club ski day/night (except weekends) and free instructional ski or snowboard lesson(s) (depending on the card you purchase). Your membership card must be brought to PK each week in order to receive club discounts!

Patch System: The patch system is all about kids learning to ski/snowboard well! Students earn patches by participating in lessons provided by Pine Knob during club night. The patches allow students access to certain areas at Pine Knob. As the participant earns more patches, they earn the right to ski/snowboard at more advanced runs. All students MUST have the appropriate patch(es) in order to ski each hill at Pine Knob. Patches MUST be affixed to the skier s/snowboarder s jacket in a permanent fashion. Students without patches will be warned or may be escorted off Pine Knob grounds. Lessons: Student membership card entitles student to two free ski lesson or one free snowboard lesson. Additional ski lessons ($10) or snowboard lessons are ($20) may be purchased at the Ski School at Pine Knob. Pine Knob lesson time vary from week to week at (Pine Knob s discretion based on enrollment). Lesson are always available @ 7pm (5 pm and 6pm lessons available only on demand). Supervision: Club sponsors will be at Pine Knob until 7pm in case of any emergencies. o Parents, please be advised that your student/siblings WILL NOT BE OFFICIALLY SUPERVISED at any time. o Students/siblings are ultimately responsible for their own actions while at Pine Knob and must adhere to school rules and will be asked to leave if acting inappropriately. Outing Cancellations: If weather is not suitable for skiing, cancellations will be made through school announcements, reminder 101 and will be posted on the Van Hoosen Ski/Snowboard Club Website. In the event of a snow day, ski/snowboarding club will not meet. REMINDER 101: sign up for text messages regarding cancelations, outing, etc. (information the VH ski/snowboard website) phone number: 586-932-5079 text message: @VHski Transportation: Parents are responsible for transportation of students & siblings to and from Pine Knob. End of the year outing? Not enough funds to make it affordable (aka: cheap) to all members. Hopefully next season. Ski/Snowboarding Dates (Tentative) The dates below are tentative (depending on MI weather). Please note the student membership card (ages 18 and under) can be used when the sponsor is not @ Pine Knob. In other words, prior to the club starting or after the club ends, the student membership prices are available at the discounted rate. However, adult members will only get $5 off if the sponsor is not at Pine Knob. To the extent permitted by law, I agree to hold harmless and indemnify the ski shop, at ski resort, its operators, and its owners, agents and employees, as well as the equipment manufacturers and distributors and their owners, agents and employees from any loss or damage, including, but not limited to, any that result from or arise out of claims for personal injury, death or property damage related to the use of the equipment to be rented to my child. 8. I understand that there are inherent and other risks involved in the sport of snow skiing or snowboarding, for which the rental equipment is to be used, that injuries are a common and ordinary occurrence of the sport, and I freely and voluntarily assume those risks on behalf of my child 9. I understand that a ski-binding-boot system will not release at all times or under all circumstances where release may prevent injury or death, nor is it possible to predict every situation in which it will release, and it is, therefore, no guarantee of my child s safety. 10. To the extent permitted by law, on behalf of my child, I hereby agree to release from any legal liability the ski shop, the rental shop, at ski resort, its operators, and its owners, agents and employees, as well as the manufacturers and distributors of the rental equipment and their respective owners, agents and employees, from any and all liability for damage and injury or death to my child, myself or to any personal property resulting from the selection, installation, maintenance, adjustment or use of the rental equipment and for any claim based upon negligence, breach of warranty, contract or other legal theory, accepting full responsibility upon behalf of my child and myself for any and all loss or damage, injury or death which may result. 11. This agreement is governed by the applicable law of this state or province. If any part is determined to be unenforceable, all other parts shall be given full force and effect. 12.
