BROOKSHIRE S B ENEFI T TOURNAMENT Hello, We have an exciting new year planned here at Brookshire Grocery Company, and we are looking forward to working with you in efforts that mutually benefit our companies and communities. One important collaboration I look forward to each year is our annual benefit golf tournament, and I want to thank you for your incredible generosity and support of events like this tournament and our FRESH 15K and Heroes Run. What an honor it is to stand beside so many of our vendor-partners who share in our values of giving back to communities. Our 30th annual Brookshire s Benefit Golf Tournament is set for Monday, April 30 and Tuesday, May 1. With your help, we have surpassed more than $5,000,000 in total proceeds given to charities since we began this effort. Watching it grow over the years has been a great reminder of the successful partnerships we enjoy with vendors and friends like you. I am proud to join with you to impact thousands of organizations doing such valuable work every day in the lives of so many families. This year s event will take place on the three most popular courses over two days, and we hope to bring together more than 600 golfers to make an immense difference in our region. We ll all come together at Harvey Convention Center in Tyler to continue to support a great cause and enjoy a delicious meal after a great day of fellowship on the golf course. MISSION BENEFITING NONPROFITS THAT SUSTAIN FAMILIES When you tee off on April 30th and May 1st, the Brookshire s Benefit Golf Tournament will have awarded more than $5,000,000 in its 30-year history. That is thousands of organizations impacted and tens of thousands of lives changed because of your support. CHILDREN S MIRACLE NETWORK By the way he runs, jumps and plays, you would never know that Luke had a turbulent entrance into the world at a mere 31 weeks gestation. During his five-week stay in the Neonatal ICU, Luke had to learn everything a new baby needs to survive: how to breathe, eat and maintain his temperature. Eventually, Luke was able to go home where this Mighty Mouse has continued to grow strong and active. Luke Skinner Children s Miracle Network Hospitals is a network of 170 children s hospitals treating millions of kids each year. Some are battling cancer. Some are suffering from traumatic injury. Others require constant care because they were born too early or with a genetic disease. When you give, your donation stays local and helps to provide life-saving equipment, programs and services, all in support of our mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. Thank you for believing in miracles! CHILDREN S ADVOCACY CENTERS Imagine a criminal abuse investigation for a 5-year-old child! In the past, she would tell her story to police officers, CPS investigators, doctors, the District Attorney s office... Children s Advocacy Centers (CACs) exist to minimize the trauma children face when they have been victimized by abuse. Cases worked through CACs are criminal, focusing on children ages birth through 17 who have been victims of, or witnessed, physical and/ or sexual abuse. By collaborating with the Department of Family and Protective Services, Child Protective Services investigators, law enforcement agencies, medical personnel, mental health professionals and community volunteers, CACs provide a safe, child-friendly place where children tell their story just one time. BACKPACK PROGRAMS Kids are sent home from school with a backpack full of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food over weekends and holiday breaks. Last year, BGC helped care for more than 6,000 hungry kids through backpack programs. BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS Through after-school programs, mentoring and camps, Boys and Girls Clubs provide a safe place for kids to reach their fullest potential. In 2017, these programs received nearly $15,000 from this event alone. - 5 -
