Rail: Out 5m entire circumference STEWARDS: D L Carr (Chairman), R W Livingstone, T D North and cadets M W Purse, R W Loughlin (mkm) LATE RIDING CHANGES: As was K Latham was stood down by the club's doctor after riding in Race 3, the following rider substitutions were approved: Race 5 App. R Hunt on Excelsior no senior jockey available at the weight Race 6 T Wolfgram on Weaving Magic. GENERAL: As a result of the considerable delay to the start of Race 6, the commencement times for races 7 and 8 were rescheduled as follows: Race 7 at 6.27pm and Race 8 at 6.57pm. RACE 1 Prosperity Health 2yo Maiden Handicap 900m Dream Child a veterinary examination of the filly, which became fractious after being loaded into barriers, passed it suitable to start. Laid out rounding the home turn. Schill Rock You slow to begin. Cyclonite raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Pierrless rounding the home turn was hampered and carried wider by Lucky Champion which shifted to the outside of Cyclonite to improve. Lucky Champion for a short distance passing the 600m raced in restricted room to the inside of Skagerrak which was taken in slightly by Cyclonite. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Skagerrak raced wide without cover throughout. Final Wave When questioned rider C Lever stated that he was instructed to settle in a prominent position, however after beginning well his mount did not show sufficient speed to cross runners despite his riding and as a consequence settled further back. C Lever added that his mount never travelled well at any stage and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight and in his opinion will be better suited in races over further distance. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be 1/5 lame in the off fore leg. Stable representative D Harris was advised a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to Final Wave s next race start. RACE 2 Ringal Valley Deli & Cafe Benchmark 64 Handicap 1600m Hunter Caulfield to be ridden more forward; led. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Seasonal slow to begin. Missing In Action slow to begin.
Nissile near the 1300m was hampered and carried wider by No Effort Needed which shifted out after becoming awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Aeecee Tianhu. No Effort Needed when questioned regarding the performance, A Bullock stated that when the pace slackened from the 1300m his mount commenced to race fiercely and pulled its way forward to a position outside the leader near the 1000m. A Bullock added that No Effort Needed continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages and as a consequence failed to finish its race off. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Aeecee Tianhu when questioned regarding the performance rider K Jennings stated that his mount travelled comfortably behind the leaders throughout the early and middle stages and after initially responding to his riding when placed under pressure rounding the home turn then weakened over the final 200 metres. K Jennings added that in his opinion Aeecee Tianhu failed to run out the 1600m of today s event. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. RACE 3 South Newcastle Rugby League Club Maiden Handicap 1200m Key To Glory option for rider to have horse ridden more forward and possibly lead; led. Love Shack Baby the gelding, which was fractious in the tie-ups and got its near hind leg momentarily cast, was examined by the club's veterinary officer prior to entering the parade ring and again on arrival at the barriers, and was passed suitable to start. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the straight. Whitty Woman was slow to begin and shortly after was steadied when crowded between Missile Attack and Harvey Specter which shifted in. Missile Attack slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Carnegie s Monaco Passing the 100m was directed to the inside of Love Shack Baby to continue into clear running. Sporty raced wide without cover throughout. RACE 4 Wingman Brewery Maiden Handicap 1400m Hollywood Rose trainer G Englebrecht was fined $50 under LR 35(2) for the late declaration of apprentice R Hunt as the rider. Pulang Pula slow to begin. When questioned rider K Jennings advised that his intention was to ride his mount prominently. He said however Pulang Pula was slow to begin and initially after its poor getaway he intended riding the horse with cover, however in the early stages of the race the tempo was very slow and he allowed Pulang Pula to stride forward and was able to take up the lead rounding the first turn. He added however that Pulang Pula after being asked to improve in the early stages then raced keenly thereafter and this was the primary reason for the horse tiring over the final 100 metres. Biaxial on jumping was bumped heavily by Scratches which began awkwardly and shifted in. Scratches began awkwardly and shifted in. Sail To Glory began awkwardly resulting in its rider apprentice B Ryan becoming momentarily unbalanced. Usurp When questioned J Penza stated that his mount travelled well throughout the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure on straightening failed to respond and was disappointing. J Penza added that Usurp made an abnormal respiratory noise during the race. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J Cummings was advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to racing again.
Cappamore rider R Brewer advised that over the latter stages of the race Cappamore commenced to lay in and shifted towards Temprado and actually made contact with that horse near the 50m and for this reason he was obliged to stop riding with the whip and straighten his mount and ride the horse hands and heels to the finish. RACE 5 Net Modular Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 Handicap 1400m Plaisir stood flatfooted and missed the start (4L). Trainer D Atkins was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding s record. High Power began awkwardly and lost ground. Toast began awkwardly with its head up. Near the 1200m was steadied was crowded by Bray, which was taken in by Privily which, when inclined to hang in, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Was held up for clear running in the early part of the straight. Gold Skye slow to begin. Imperial Eagle near the 800m was hampered and carried wider by Privily which, when inclined to pull hard became awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Ayeteem and shifted out abruptly. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be 2/5 lame in the off fore leg. Trainer A Denham was advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to Imperial Eagle s next race start. Lightning Lockie near the 800m was hampered and carried wider by Imperial Eagle which was taken out by Privily. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Privily overraced in the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which hung in throughout the event and proved difficult to ride out in the straight, did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J Austin was told that a warning would be placed on the gelding s record for its racing manners. RACE 6 Calvary Mater Maiden Plate 1850m Drusilla was declared a late withdrawal at 5.31pm when the mare became fractious in the barriers and reared resulting in its rider apprentice C Ings sustaining a shoulder injury. As a result of apprentice C Ings requiring the second ambulance, the start of the race was considerably delayed. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Drusilla be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 5.31pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) Classic Thoughts no deduction win and 1c place 2nd) Machismo less 1c place 3rd) Tavisfaction less 2c place Trainer B Mackie advised that Drusilla would now leave her stable. Trainer Mackie was nonetheless advised that Drusilla would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards on two consecutive occasions prior to being permitted to race again. Her Luminance to be ridden more forward; led. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover. Karlu Dreaming to be ridden more forward; settled midfield. Over the final 50 metres was unable to be tested when racing in restricted room between Her Luminance and Weaving Magic which was taken in slightly by Night Braker. Weaving Magic When questioned regarding the poor performance T Wolfgram stated that his mount never travelled well at any stage of the event and was disappointing in its failure to respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the 500m. T Wolfgram added that in his opinion Weaving Magic may be better suited ridden quieter in its races and also with the addition of blinkers. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Tavisfaction began awkwardly and ran out. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Machismo held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Kung Fu Master shortly after straightening was hampered and carried wider by Tavisation which shifted out to improve. When questioned rider K Jennings stated that he was instructed to settle in a prominent position today, however after beginning only fairly his mount did not show sufficient speed despite his urgings and as a consequence settled much further back than anticipated. RACE 7 Prosperity Advisers Group Benchmark 68 Handicap 1200m Stradance at the request of rider T Wolfgram underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers and was passed suitable to start. Held up rounding the home turn. Blinkin Fast which was proving difficult to load, was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 6.31pm after the gelding became cast on the back gates. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Blinkin Fast be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 6.31pm to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: 1st) Art Of Dance less 5c win and 7c place 2nd) Hesco Gold less 5c place 3rd) Persia less 5c place Trainer S Grills was advised that Blinkin Fast must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards of the stewards prior to racing again. Lawan slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Laid out rounding the home turn. Clevanicc slow to begin. Nicochet began awkwardly resulting in its rider R Murray becoming momentarily unbalanced. Overraced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Persia laid in under pressure over the final 100 metres and proved different to ride out. RACE 8 Prosperity Smart Drive Fillies & Mares Class 2 Handicap 1400m Miss Redoble slow to begin. Lucciola Belle slow to begin. Near the 1100m was steadied when crowded between Divine Breeze and Unbridled Power which, when inclined to overrace and being steadied away from the heels Chilly Cha Cha, then shifted in slightly. Mulu Magic slow to begin. Was held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and for some distance approaching the 100m made contact with the running rail when endeavouring to improve into a narrow run to the inside of Luiza. Divine Breeze began very awkwardly and then shortly after was checked away from the heels of Celtic Love which shifted out. Miss Redoble When questioned G Buckley stated that from his wide barrier when his mount began only moderately he elected to restrain and race at the tail of the field rather than be caught wide. He stated that rounding the home turn he was held up behind Divine Breeze and shortly after straightening attempted to improve between Divine Breeze and Unbridled Power however had to be steadied near the 300m when disappointed for that run due to Divine Breeze shifting out. G Buckley stated that he then shifted to the outside of Unbridled Power in an attempt to improve between that runner and Bukzel however when Unbridled Power shifted out under pressure his mount was again disappointed for the
run near the 200m. G Buckley stated that he then had some difficulty shifting his mount to the outside of Bukzel due to his mount s inclination to lay in and it was not until inside the 100m that Miss Redoble was able to obtain clear running where it finished its race off strongly. Evonne s Magic raced wide without cover throughout. Luiza A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have loosened a tooth during the race with no other abnormalities. Sunset Jewel lost its off hind plate near the 100m. Unbridled Power A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Celtic Love - was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. Laid out under pressure over the final 200 metres and proved difficult to ride out.
