CTC Tough Cup Information The Tough Cup is back and happy to announce the 2013 addition. Racing will be held on the South Branch of the Chicago River from Pulaski to Damen (see map attached) in normal head racing format. All entries have been addressed and the race procession has been organized. Attached here too is the event list and boat numbers. The purpose of the Tough Cup is to bring the Chicago Rowing Community together and help support the further development of Chicago s waterways for positive recreation and use. Since 2009 Chicago Training Center has used the south branch of the Chicago River System to train its participants and this regatta allows us to highlight the daily training path we follow. In the name of inclusion the trophy is a points based trophy that not only uses the results on the water but also a land focused event to round out the day. Regatta Location 2800 S. Eleanor St, Chicago IL, 60608 Coaches and Coxwain Meeting Meeting will be held at 6:45am at the race site. I suggest all rowers and coaches arrive at the site at 6am to prep for the race and meeting. First race hits the dock at 7:30am (for an 8:15am race time) and with the number of boats entered we will progress through the staging at a quick rate. Dock Master reserves the right to scratch crews that show up late and are unable to boat in a timely manner (will be determined and disused at meeting). Points System There is no designation between Varsity and Novice for this regatta. All entries submitted must be in ranking order of speed. Points will only be awarded to crews that finish in the top 3 per event inclusive. The same points scheme works for the land challenge. All entrants are encouraged to row twice. Cost The cost for the event is $250 per team entry irrespective of number of boats entered. This offsets the medals, trophy, referees, and incidentals for the event. Please have your competitors fill this waiver out in full and present it when you register your team. T-shirt Purchase CTC will be organizing a regatta tshirt that can be purchased day of. This commemorative t-shirt will feather artwork by noted urban artist Brendan Dooley and be a limited run used specifically for this regatta. Cost of the shirt is $20. Food Every attempt will be made to secure a food truck for the day s event but all clubs are allowed to bring their own food supplies should they want. CTC Tough Cup Event Waiver Event Location: 2800 S. Eleanor St Chicago IL 60608 Chicago, Illinois In consideration of being given the opportunity to participate in any way in the Tough Cup, and through my and/or my child's/guardian s involvement, I acknowledge, agree, and represent on behalf of myself and my child/guardian that I understand the nature of this outdoor regatta activity, that the entrant named below is qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such activity. Further, I understand that there are risks and dangers connected with my and/or my child s/guardian's involvement and participation in this activity and that there is a risk of serious bodily harm, injury, and danger; and I, for myself and my child/guardian, knowingly and freely accept such risk and danger; and I for myself and my child/guardian, and on behalf of our heirs, personal representatives, assignees, and next of kin, hereby release, discharge, covenant not to sue, and hold harmless and indemnify the Chicago Training Center, the Chicago Park District, owners of any and all equipment loaned for this event, and their respective Boards, Officers, Directors, Members, Volunteers, Employees, and Agents from any and all suits, claims, actions, rights, demands, liability, damages, costs, expenses, injuries, or causes of action of whatever kind or nature arising out of or connected with my and/or my child s/guardian's participation in the Tough Cup. All exercises and use of all facilities of the Chicago Park District shall be undertaken by me and/or my child at our sole risk. The Park shall not be liable for any suits, claims, actions, rights, demands, liability, damages, costs, expenses, injuries, or causes of action whatsoever, to person or property of whatever kind or nature arising out of or connected with the use of any of the services or facilities of the Park or the premises where the same is located or arising out of acts of active or possible negligence on the part of the Park, its employees, or its agents. I have read this agreement and will read the rules and regulations of the hosting Club (CTC) which are incorporated herein by reference and I agree to be bound by their terms and conditions. I have read this waiver before signing below, fully understand its terms, understand that I am giving up substantial rights by signing it, and am signing it freely and without any inducement or assurance of any nature, intending this to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law.
