Fall Rally Hunt Results The annual Fall Rally Hunt was held in Heiberger, Alabama on November 4, 2017. Greg and Susan Horton were our hosts. 20 dogs drew out and despite the hot weather which made for tough hunting, the hunt spots were great with plenty of squirrels resulting in some good final scores. Great fellowship and food made for another successful ATFA hunt. Congratulations to the winners and to all who participated! Tennessee Regional Hunt Results Two regional hunts were held near Whitwell, Tennessee on November 18, 2017. Marty Brown and Carl Richardson were our hosts for another successful hunt. The hunting was tough with threats of storms, but hunters and dogs persisted and were able to post some plus scores. A delicious soup lunch was served between the two hunts. A perfect meal for the cold and blustery weather! The competition for winning ATFA raffle items has become fierce with many great items donated for raffles. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thanks to everyone who attended and to Marty and Carl for organizing a great event. Altamaha Regional Hunt Results Mike Powell hosted the South Georgia Altamaha Hunts on December 2nd near Vidalia, Georgia. Mid-South Feeds and Soperton Farm Service Center sponsored the hunt by donating 50 lb bags of Showtime Feed 27/20 for each of the winners. We appreciate their generosity and look forward to having them sponsor the Dexter Hunt also. Thanks to Randy Phillips for getting this sponsor. Results are posted on this page. Congratulations to Randall Phillips and Rusty for attain- ing the title of ATFA Squirrel Champion at this hunt. Another great raffle was held between the morning and afternoon hunts with several hotly contested items included. This is a great way for members and guests to support the club and win some great prizes. Look for more information in our next newsletter. Save the dates because these are the final two hunts of the season and are always well attended and lots of fun. Herschel Coxwell Winter Classic Dexter Georgia will be the location for the Herschel Coxwell Winter Classic, named in memory and honor of longtime ATFA Board Member Herschel Coxwell. The hunt will be held on January 20, 2018 with a 30 dog limit for each hunt. Headquarters will be at the Dexter Community Center. Randy Phillips, Larry Upshaw and John Dykes will serve as our hosts. All casts will have guides and will be conducted on private land. Lakeside Assembly of God will serve dinner on Friday evening, breakfast and lunch on Saturday. Money raised will benefit the Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge of the church. There will be a squirrel champions hunt on Friday afternoon, anyone wanting to hunt a squirrel champion should contact Randy Phillips (478-290-8259) to let him know that you plant to participate. There is a 30 dog limit for each hunt. The entry form is found below and can be mailed beginning January 1, 2018. Check in deadline is 5:30 am with a 6:00 am draw out. Afternoon check in deadline is 1:30 pm with a 2:00 pm draw out. Motels are located 10 miles from Dexter ar the I-16 and Hwy 441 Interchange (Exit 49). Winter Rally Hunt - February 3, 2018 The annual Winter Rally Hunt will be held on February 3, 2018 in Montrose, Mississippi. Headquarters will be the Montrose City Hall with Keith and Carol Landrum serving as our hosts. Casts will hunt in the Tallahala Wildlife Management Area with a 30 dog entry limit. Hunt entries can be postmarked beginning January 13, 2018, the form is found below. Morning check in time is 5:30 am with a 6:00 am draw out. Afternoon check in is 1:30 pm with a 2:00 pm draw out. There will be a Squirrel Champions hunt on Friday afternoon. Please contact Keith Landrum (601-425-2726) if you plan to participate. Mark Beason will be providing his award winning barbecued ribs on Friday evening. Please RSVP Mark (601-573-4254) if you plan to attend so that he will know how many to prepare for. AR Regional Hunts Feb 24, 2018 Stuttgart, Arkansas will be the location for two regional hunts held on February 24, 2018. Jimmy and Terry Reynolds will serve as our hosts. There will be a 30 dog limit for each hunt. Hunt headquarters will be the Alcorn Volunteer Fire Department located about 6 miles from Bayou Meto WMA where the dogs will hunt. A fish fry will be held and a there will be a raffle between the morning and afternoon hunts. Members are asked to bring items to raffle. A championship cast will be held on Friday afternoon for all Squirrel Champions. Please contact Jimmy Reynolds (501-450-2554) if you plan to enter this event.
