Sports Jr. Nuggets Recreational Girls Basketball Jr. Nuggets recreational girl s basketball is a recreation league designed to teach fundamentals of basketball in a team setting. Participants will receive a Denver Nuggets reversible jersey, which will be the new game jersey and two tickets to a Nuggets game. To help ensure equal team competition, 4th through 8th-grade players must attend one mandatory player assessment date. Players will be assessed on basketball skills and athleticism and placed on teams according to skill level. Jr. Nuggets High School Recreational Basketball This is a recreational basketball league intended for those NOT playing on a high school or club basketball team. We partner with the Jr. Nuggets program each participant will receive a Jr. Nuggets reversible branded jersey and two tickets to a Denver Nuggets game. Teams play in the 2017 Power-to-Play Sports Fall League. Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. Practices start in September with games in October and November and a tournament in December. Teams are required to have 60 percent of its players reside in Windsor or in the Weld RE-4 School District boundaries. If there is enough interest to form new teams or current teams that need additional players, players will be called for tryouts on the below dates. Players need to register to be invited to the free tryout. Adults interested in coaching an intermediate team will need to call 970-674-3507 for details. Youth interested in playing on a team for the upcoming season and who are not currently on a team will need to register on a showof-interest list. Note, boys K-1st grade basketball will not be offered during the boy's recreation season. His camps will improve the ability of basketball players regardless of their ability or age. Sports Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge The Denver Nuggets Skill Challenge is a FREE competition open to boys and girls that allows youngsters to showcase their talents in dribbling, passing and shooting. This youth program is produced by the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association. Top scorers from each age group will advance to a sectional competition, and sectional winners will advance to the state championship to be held in conjunction with a Denver Nuggets game at the Pepsi Center. Door prizes and other special prizes, along with some food, will also be part of the fun. Turkey Ball will be played rain, snow or shine. Teams consist of 9-12 players and are guaranteed three games. Sports Parent Meetings At the Parent Meetings, we will conduct Team Sideline training, our online schedule and team roster system. We will also discuss general parental sporting etiquette and expectations. All parents should plan to attend this portion of the meeting, as this is all new and important information. Concussion training starts at 7 p.m. This training educates parents on the signs and symptoms of concussions while emphasizing the seriousness of head injuries. If you have attended the concussion training you are not required to attend again. The sport-specific portion of the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m., which covers season schedules, rules and more. Reduced Fee Program The Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture Reduced Fee Program is funded through generous donations from multiple sources, including the Windsor Town Board and United Way of Weld County. Reduced fees are available for Town of Windsor residents who meet qualification guidelines, including proof of income and household size, taken from the most recent IRS tax form, and proof of residency, taken from a property tax certification, Town of Windsor utility bill or rental agreement.
