WELCOME TO THE FEDERAL STUD PIBER EXCITING OFFERS FOR YOUNG AND THE YOUNG AT HEART Since 1920, Piber stud farm in western Styria, approx. 230 kilometres south of Vienna has been home to the famous Lipizzan horses. The Piber stud farm is tasked with breeding these Lipizzan stallions, which will subsequently be trained to show their skills at the world famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna. In the Lipizzaner World Piber the gates of the traditional stud farm are open to the young and young at heart. Not only horse lovers enjoy the close proximity to the horses every trip to our stud farm is a unique and very special experience. During stud tours, carriage rides, competitions and whilst enjoying the clear summer air on the mountain pastures, the imperial white horses can be experienced in all their facets. The basis of the Lipizzaner horse breed is the mares with their foals. The colours of the foals are black, bay and different shades of dusky brown. Experience them, exploring their surroundings during their first months, always under the safe care of the mares. Watch a demonstration by our farrier or learn everything about the historical background of our Lipizzaner in the museum. The children s adventure path, the cinema and the adventure playground are some of the other exciting attractions. Our affection for horses is clearly detectable in the Lipizzaner stud Piber. Experience these majestic white horses on one of our daily guided tours and get an insight into breeding, handling and history. Audio guides are available in English, Hungarian, Slovenian, French and Italian. Whether you are an individual tourist, tour group, nursery or school excursion, our tours are adapted accordingly. The highlight of the show is the elegant feature of the Spanish horse riding school of Vienna. DAILY ATTRACTIONS REGULAR HIGHLIGHTS IN THE STUD EXCITING MOUNTAIN TOUR BOISTEROUS STALLIONS ON THE ALPINE PASTURES GUIDED TOURS During the one hour tour you will experience the Lipizzaner closeup in the inner courtyard. You will get to know everything about the handcraft of our farrier and see historical coaches and sleighs in our coach museum. TRAINING IN THE RIDING HALL Experience the skillful work of our riders in our historical riding hall. Monday Fridays: 10:00 11:15 am* The visit in the riding hall is part of the 10 as well as the 11:00 tours. PRESENTATION AT THE BLACKSMITH Watch the farrier at work and learn interesting details on hoof care. Monday to Sunday from 10:30 to 11:30 am* EXCITING MOUNTAIN TOUR Experience the boisterour, young lads on the alpine pastures exclusively on the Stubalm between June and September, approx. 20 km from Piber. No shuttle service available. Tickets available in Piber. * Subject to change, only valid during the summer season Experience the young, boisterous Lipizzaner stallions at an altitude of 1500 m. Visit them between the beginning of June and September, 13 th 2018. Watch them during their daily fights for leadership. Book a picnic next to the pastures at 4:00 pm, where they are romping over the mountain pastures to show off their natural disposition of movement. The snack board with the original branding element of Piber stud is a welcome souvenir. Please note, picnics have to be booked in advanced until noon the same day in Café Caballero. NEAPOLITANO SESSANA S CHILDREN ADVENTURE PATH In cooperation with the Austrian Federal Forests and FINK Design, the Lipizzaner World offers our younger guests exciting insights into life at the stud. The individual stations provide an abundance of information on horses and everything that goes with them. Pick up your Horse Pass at the Shop, borrow a hobby horse and off you go through the stud. Generous parking (P) is provided for cars and buses and may be founded at the foot of the castle of Piber (14). A sign posted walkway takes you from there, passing the arena (16) and the horse pond (15) towards the stud. The cash desk and souvenir shop area (1) is the starting point of an exciting excursion into the marvelous world of the Lipizzaner. Armed with a site map you are now ready to explore the birthplace of the world famous Lipizzaner that perform in the Spanish horse riding school in Vienna. This is also the meeting point for the guided tours. The ancestry and the history of the Lipizzaner are documented in the cinema (1) and in the museum (3). In the practical zone (2) you may try a coach ride, saddling and grooming of a horse and get to know the most important horse feed. You pass through the turnstile (4) with a valid ticket. In the inner court you can visit the stables and the harness chamber (5). Retired studs and studs of the horse riding school in Vienna are in the Stallion stable (6) the foal barn (7) is the nursery, where the young ones enjoy the first few months along with the mares. At the blacksmith (8) you can learn interesting details about hoof care and take a glance over the shoulder of our farrier at work. At the paddock (9) you can have a close-up look at the Lipizzaner. In the riding hall (10) training units are done at set times. Fun is guaranteed to all family members in the adventure area with the suspended tree house, our exciting activity playground (13) in front of the coffee shop (12) terrace.
