3 AND 8 STRAND PD 101 This construction brings together the highest strength-to-weight ratio; lowest elongation; with excellent handling qualities available for Towboat and Barge work. Manufactured from Dupont Multiplex Dacron cover yarns for greater abrasion and frictional heat resistance plus a hand similar to Spun Dacron with a special lubricant to enhance strength and extend wear life. The inner core consists of lightweight twisted and untwisted polypropylene yarns. Identified by a blue, red and white marker yarn in one strand. P/D 101 is the prime workhorse on the river and canal systems. 3 STRAND TWISTED PD 101 629G 1 1/2 4 1/2 600 37,800 261 63H2 1 5/8 5 600 41,400 292 63H1 1 3/4 5 1/2 600 50,400 372 63H4 2 6 600 60,300 453 W998 2 1/4 7 600 72,000 600 L250 2 1/2 7 1/2 600 85,500 696 277H 2 5/8 8 600 103,500 798 U143 3 9 600 130,500 960 8 STRAND PLAITED PD 101 U535 2 5/8 8 600 103,500 804 0000 2 7/8 8 1/2 600 117,000 900 E540 3 9 600 130,500 978 0000 3 1/4 10 600 154,800 1248 0000 3 1/2 11 600 193,500 1452 0000 4 12 600 217,800 1680 3 AND 8 STRAND HIGH TENACITY POLYESTER Highly resistant to ultra violet rays, polyester rope stays flexible and does not shrink or harden. The outer jacket yarns are made up of polypropylene filaments with a covering sheath of polyester in a single yarn construction. These cover yarns give superior resistance to abrasive or frictional wear. The inner yarns are made of polypropylene for good strength and low weight. Excellent strength to weight ratio with good ability to handle repeated loadings. Very good to excellent resistance to alkalis and solvents; good resistance to acids. Excellent abrasion resistance to both external and internal wear. Recommended for public utility stringing lines and bull rope, heavy marine mooring hawsers, tree trimmers line, guy lines, hoisting rope, many commercial fishing applications. 3 STRAND TWISTED PD 10 6500 1/4 3/4 600 1,250 9 E201 5/16 1 600 1,900 13 5942 3/8 1 1/8 600 2,700 23 5946 7/16 1 1/4 600 3,510 28 5943 1/2 1 1/2 600 4,500 37 5950 5/8 2 600 7,020 58 5948 3/4 2 1/4 600 8,550 73 6198 7/8 2 3/4 600 11,700 110 6200 1 3 600 13,950 128 6196 1 1/8 3 1/2 600 18,450 165 6201 1 1/4 3 3/4 600 20,700 190 8 STRAND PLAITED PD 10 5525 3/4 2 1/4 600 8,550 78 M076 7/8 2 3/4 600 11,700 110 U018 1 3 600 13,950 128 U877 1 1/8 3 1/2 600 18,800 165 U148 1 1/4 3 3/4 600 20,700 190 3 STRAND TWISTED PD 84 A companion to P/D 101 is the P/D 84. P/D 84 will easily handle less demanding jobs. P/D 84 is more economical than similar lines; having a higher break strength and reduced elongation at test break. All the factors needed to bring safety to your crew, equipment and cargo. Yet P/D 84 is manufactured with a blend of high tenacity polyester over polypropylene cover yarns over a twisted polypropylene core. P/D 84 offers all this at an economical cost. 3 AND 8 STRAND PD 100 3 AND 8 STRAND PD11 The Old Man of River Ropes; improved upon, but, still in demand for some applications. P/D 100 is a unique combination rope taking the most compatible and characteristics of polyester and polyethylene synthetic fibers. The jacket yarns are made by blending the polyester and polyethylene filaments. The inner core yarns are twisted polyethylene or nylon. This special combination rope blends the distinctive properties of polyester and polyolefin synthetic yarns. The outer jacket is comprised from polyolefin filaments with a covering sheath of polyester. These cover yarns give superior resistance to frictional or abrasive wear. Plasma 12 strand is manufactured from Honeywell Spectra Fiber that has been enhanced by a patented recrystallization process. This process is especially effective in medium to large diameter ropes where strengths are over 50% higher and creep is significantly less than that of standard Spectra 12 strand. Plasma 12 strand comes standard with a polyurethane finish and is easily spliced using a simple lockstitch type splice, 4-3-2 or 5-4-3 Tuck splice. Its soft, torque free braided construction provides easy handling. COLUMBIAN NON-REVOLVING SKI-TOW ROPE SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR ROPE TOW SKI AREAS Safety is a key requirement in ski tow ropes. The natural tendency of ropes to revolve under tension introduces an element of danger in standard lay construction ropes. A revolving rope can catch gloves, parkas, sweaters and scarves. Columbian s ski tow ropes in 8-strand construction are specially constructed to offer a non-revolving line. The special construction offers high resistance to the severe abrasive wear of dragging over snow and ice in addition to the non-revolving factor. Columbian s PD110 is truly the finest fiber ski tow rope. White in color, a combination of polyester and polyethylene filament gives light weight, long wear, excellent abrasive resistance and low external and internal wear. It will not fuse on the sheaves nor freeze-up. It is rot proof. Order in required lengths in either 1 or 1 1/8 diameter. Dia. Circ. Approx. Wgt. Breaking Strg. Many uses of rope involve serious risk of injury to personnel or damage to valuable property. This danger is often obvious, as when a heavy load is supported above one or more workmen. An equally dangerous situation occurs if personnel are in line with a rope under excessive tension. Should the rope fail, it may recoil with considerable force especially if the rope is nylon. Persons should be warned against standing in line with the rope. In all cases where any such risks are present, or there is any question about the loads involved or the conditions of use, the working load should be substantially reduced and the rope properly inspected. NOTE: Lb/600ft. shown are average figures with a variation of +/- 5% of the figure shown. New Rope Tensile Strengths are based on tests of new rope, tested according to Cordage Institute specifications that is, a straight tensile test at slow speed using eye-spliced test pieces.
