IMAGE: JULIAN BARKER The Visitors DONCASTER ROVERS BELLES The club was originally formed as the Belle Vue Belles by a group of young, ambitious women who were selling draw tickets on the terraces at Doncaster Rovers FC. Doncaster Rovers Belles are one of English women s football s most famous and successful clubs being one of only three non-london teams to have won the FA Women s Premier League National Division in 1992 and 1994. Founded in 1969 by lottery ticket sellers at Belle Vue, home of Doncaster Rovers Football Club they have also won the FA Women s Cup six times and reached the final on a further seven occasions. In 2016 the Belles return to WSL1 was marred by fixture disruption and injuries to key players, resulting in relegation back to WSL2. The season also saw the departure of Harris as manager. He was replaced by his assistant, Emma Coates, who oversaw the club s only win of the season on the final fixture against Reading Ladies. Currently sitting in third place in the table, the Belles have had a great start to the season with an unbeaten run in the FA Women s Super League 2 with a comfortable 6-0 victory against Aston Villa in what was Emma Coates last game in charge.
