Palma de Mallorca Marathon, a stunning and family fun marathon The brand new Palma de Mallorca Marathon replaces former TUI Marathon after 11 successful years aiming to continue growing as a family fun marathon and now becoming a high quality and fast race for all kind of runners. The city centre of Palma de Mallorca hosts a stunning event over three distances (marathon, half marathon and 10k) in a wonderful and flat course that will place this totally urban race as one of the main favourite runner s spots in Europe. October 18 th is the date to save! Palma Marathon continues its growth as an international marathon event and aims to become one of the favourite races in autumn in Europe for all kind of runners, those focused on family fun that wanted to merge sports and holidays in one of the best well known touristic destination all over the world in the Mediterranean, and for those focused on performance and looking for a fast and high quality race to make their marks. Palma de Mallorca Marathon replaces former TUI Marathon after 11 editions and keeps growing and unveiling novelties to secure an unforgettable full weekend experience for the marathoners. One of the most important improvement is the new race course. It s a 21km circuit (two loops for the marathon), totally flat, crossing all the main streets, avenues and historical monuments of the city. Start and Finish Line is located at the feet of the impressive Palma s Cathedral ( La Seu ), and it s the place where the Expo Market and side events suchs as Breakfast Run or Palma Run for kids are held. Certified length of the above road race established by RFEA (Spanish Athletics Federation) and the event is from now on part of the AIMS official international calendar. Around 10,000 athletes from 50 different countries will enjoy an unique race that offers a stunning circuit and race venue, perfect weather conditions in October and Palma is a city ready for culture, fun, gastronomy and an experience for all the family. 60% of the athletes comes from Germany, and around 20% from Great Britain, and 40% of the participants are women, the highest figure in a Spanish run event. Palma de Mallorca Marathon, as part of the Passion For Running project from Palma de Mallorca Council, has been officially presented at the ITB Berlin as well. The new name and concept brings to Palma de Mallorca, one of the main touristic places in Europe, in the Balearic Islands, a high quality event that is not only a marathon, is a full weekend of run, tourism and leisure for beginners or experienced athletes, and their families. PALMA RUN: Kids run race on Saturday, October 17th Palma Marathon is a family friendly high quality event, and offers a wide range experience for all the athletes and their families and friends. On Saturday, the day before the marathon is held the Palma Run, a fun race for kids sponsored by Consell de Mallorca and Quely. There will be 2,000 kids running. BREAKFAST RUN: Short and Fun (no competitive) 5km race on Friday, October 16 th Short race ( only 5k) at the Market Expo, no competitive. Welcome event for the athletes to open the Expo. After the easy training, a good Mediterranean Breakfast for the participants. POST MARATHON PARTY: After race - energy meal for Marathon finishers There will be a special after race party for all the finishers (identified by their finishers t- shirts) at the Megapark in Playa de Palma, the best place to end a great weekend. MARKET: Expo to pick up BIB s numbers and athlete s bag (all weekend) Located at the awesome Parc de la Mar (Sea Park) at the feet of the Cathedral, athletes will enjoy the official Expo where they can pick up their runner s bag and BIB s numbers and go shopping (sport market, cultural market ). Friday and Saturday from 11h to 19, and Sunday from 8h to 15h.
