1. Definitions and Interpretation This Selection Policy is to be read in conjunction with the Selection Guidelines. All defined terms in this Selection Policy have the same meaning as in the Selection Guidelines, unless otherwise stated. In this Selection Policy, the following words have the corresponding meaning: FINA Point Score means the scoring system administered by FINA and available at http://archives.fina.org/h2o/index.php?option=com_content&view=articl e&id=1373&itemid=641; Individual Olympic Event means an individual swimming event that will form part of the next Olympic Games; and 2. Background For the purposes of this Selection Policy: (iv) the Team is the Australian Dolphins Swim Team for the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships; the Competition is the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships; the Competition will take place on 9-13 August 2018 in Tokyo, Japan; and the Qualifying Event are the; (A) (B) 2018 Commonwealth Games, which will take place on 5-10 April 2018 on the Gold Coast, Australia. 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championship Trials, which will take place on 1-4 July 2018 in Adelaide. This Selection Policy details the process and criteria by which SAL will select athletes to the Team to compete at the Competition. 3. Team composition, size and rankings. Team composition and size When selecting the Team, the SAL Selection Panel will select the Team in accordance with this Selection Policy and the Selection Guidelines. The composition of the Team is to be determined by the SAL Selection Panel. The Team will, in accordance with applicable eligibility requirements for the Competition, consist of a maximum of: 52 athletes (the Team Size); and A maximum of 26 male or 26 female athletes. 1

Rankings (d) (e) (f) Where more athletes meet the Performance Requirements for individual selection to the Team than the Team Size permits, those athletes will be ranked according to the Priority System and Ranking System as set out in the Selection Guidelines, with the number of top-ranked athletes equal to the Team Size being selected to the Team. In the event of a tie for the final position on the Team based on the Ranking System, then the 2018 FINA Point Score(s) for the tied athletes will be used to separate the tied athletes. If the tied athletes remain tied after applying clause 3(e), then the SAL Selection Panel will select the athlete(s) to the Team from the tied athletes at its absolute discretion, in accordance with the factors provided at clause 4(n) (substituting the word "relay" for "individual") and applying clauses 4(o) and 4(p). 4. Athlete Selection Process and Criteria The requirements to be met by an athlete in order to be considered for selection (Performance Requirements) for different events at the Competition are as follows, and are subject at all times to adjustment in accordance with clause 5 of the Selection Guidelines. Individual Olympic Events The first, second and third placed eligible athletes in the Final of an Individual Olympic Event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games will be selected to the Team subject to the time that they swim in the final equalling or beating the SAL Qualifying Time for that event listed in Appendix 1. Athletes meeting this criteria will be considered a Priority 1 athlete. All eligible athletes in the A Final of an Individual Olympic Event at the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championship Trials will be selected to the Team subject to the time that they swim in the A Final equalling or beating the SAL Qualifying Time for that event listed in Appendix 1. Athletes meeting this criteria will be considered a Priority 3 athlete. (d) (e) The Pan Pacific Championships does not restrict the number of athletes per nation that can be entered per event into the heats. Therefore more than three athletes per event can be selected onto the team provided they meet 4. For the avoidance of doubt, if the first placed eligible athlete equals or beats the relevant time, but the second placed athlete does not, then only the first placed eligible athlete will be selected to the Team. If no athletes equal or beat the relevant SAL Qualifying Time, then no athlete will be selected to the Team for that relevant Individual Olympic Event (Relevant Event) based on the Final selection process set out in clause 4 and 4 of this Selection Policy. However, athletes selected to the Team for other Individual Olympic Events may be selected by the NHC to compete in the Relevant Event at the Competition, subject to that athlete having met any applicable FINA qualification time(s) for the Relevant Event. Any selection for a Relevant Event on the basis of this clause 4(e): 2

may be made by the NHC at his/her absolute discretion, which is not required be exercised; is not capable of being appealed either under the SAL Appeal Charter or otherwise; and may be made irrespective of whether there are no athletes selected to the Team for the Relevant Event, or if only one athlete is selected to the Team for the Relevant Event and Australia is permitted more than one competitor in the Relevant Event. (f) In the case of a tie by two or more athletes in the A Final of an Individual Olympic Event at the Qualifying Events, and that tie is determinative of whether one or more of the tied athletes are selected to the Team, and each athlete swum a time in the 'A' Final that equals or betters the applicable SAL Qualifying Time listed in Appendix 1, a further race will be conducted at the Qualifying Event between the tied athletes at a time to be determined by the Competition Technical Manager, with the winner of that race obtaining selection to the Team, and where a second place remains available in that event for the Team (for example, where three athletes are competing for two positions on the Team), the second placed athlete will also be selected to the Team. Relay Events (g) (h) In relation to the relay events selected under clauses 4(g) to 4(p), meeting or beating the SAL Qualifying Time for a relay event at the Qualifying Event does not guarantee any athlete selection in the Team for that relay event. The following criteria will apply to determine the selection of athletes for the following events at the sole and absolute discretion of SAL Selection Panel. Athletes meeting this relay criteria will be considered a Priority 2 athlete. Medley Relay (j) (k) The Medley Relay involves a 100m swim of each discipline, each by a different athlete. The highest ranked, second-highest and third-highest ranked eligible athlete in each of the following Individual Olympic Events at both Qualifying Events in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly, may be considered for selection to the Team for the Medley Relay. For the avoidance of doubt, additional athletes will not be selected as relay only athletes for the Mixed 4 x 100 Medley relay. 100m and 200m Freestyle Relay (l) The following criteria will apply to determine the nomination of any additional relay only athletes at the sole and absolute discretion of SAL, based on performances in the Qualifying Events by the following athletes only: o the three athletes that compete in the 100m and 200m Freestyle events from the 2018 Commonwealth Games. 3

o A member of the 4x100m and 4 x 200m Freestyle relay team from the 2018 Commonwealth Games. o The four highest ranked available athletes in the 100m and 200m Freestyle events at the 2018 Australian Championships. (m) (n) The eligible athletes from the Qualifying Events outlined in clause 4(l) may be considered for selection onto the Team as a "relay-only" athlete (Relay Only). In selecting the Relay Only athletes, the SAL Selection Panel at its absolute discretion may select the athletes. Without in any way limiting the discretion of the SAL Selection Panel, in making a determination as to which of the athletes to select as Relay Only athletes under this clause, the SAL Selection Panel may consider the following factors (Factors): (iv) past relay performances; past relay skills; performances at previous domestic and international events; and any other factors the SAL Selection Panel considers relevant. (o) (p) The discretion granted to the SAL Selection Panel in clause 4(m) is absolute and it is not required to be exercised. In exercising its discretion, the SAL Selection Panel may consider any Factor, or combination of Factors that is, in the opinion of the SAL Selection Panel, relevant for consideration when selecting Relay Only athletes to the Team and may attribute whatever weight it deems appropriate to any particular Factor when making its decision. For the avoidance of doubt, the SAL Selection Panel is not required to consider, turn its mind to, or rely on all the Factors in the exercise of its discretion to make a selection decision (for example, the SAL Selection Panel is therefore entitled to rely on one Factor, two Factors, three Factors, etc. or a combination of a number of Factors in the exercise of its discretion to make a selection decision). 4
