NOTICE OF RACE 44 th CARNIVAL REGATTA 2018 - VILAMOURA The event will be sailed on the waters of Vilamoura - Quarteira, Algarve, Portugal, February 10, 11 and 12 inclusive, 2018. The Organizing Authority (OA) is CIMAV Clube Internacional da Marina de Vilamoura, in conjunction with the Portuguese Sailing Federation. Open to boats of the following classes: Optimist, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser Standard, Moth, 420, Dart 18, Flying Dutchman and Snipe. 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). 1.2 RRS Appendix P shall apply. 1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence 2 ADVERTISING Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing committee. The responsibility for its replacement is the competitor / guardian of the support boat that will require another copy at the regatta office. 3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the: Optimist, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser Standard, Moth, 420, Dart 18, Flying Dutchman and Snipe. - Competitors in Optimist class are divided in 2 classes: Optimist Juvenile all non Portuguese competitors and competitors listed as category Juvenile ; Optimist Infant all Portuguese competitors - Competitors in Optimist class can only entry in one sub-class; - If there is more than 120 entries, the OA can dived a class in groups. The racing format and special rules for those classes will be defined in the Sailing Instructions; - Competitors must comply with the ISAF Regulation 19, Eligibility Code. - Competitors with Portuguese nationality or with legal residence in Portugal shall also comply with the eligibility prescriptions of the Federação Portuguesa de Vela. 1

The regatta will consist of 9 races for all classes. 6 MEASUREMENTS A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. 7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available as from 10.00 hrs on February 9 at the Race Office. 8 RACING AREAS Nota: The Organising Authority reserves the right to make the necessary amendments to the scheme presented above. 3
9 PENALTY SYSTEM For the Hobies and Darts classes rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn penalty. 10 SCORING 10.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series. 10.2 When 4 or more races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of her race scores, excluding her worst score. 10.3 If a points scoring penalty for a breach of RRS 42 would result in a score worse than DSQ, the penalty will be that corresponding to DSQ. The scores of other boats will not be changed 11 SUPPORT BOATS Support boats must register before the first start of the first race and shall be marked with a number on a clearly visible place. This number must be obtained from the Race Committee upon registration, or a flag of is country or club on a clearly visible place. 12 BERTHING Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat park. 13 RÁDIO COMUNICATION A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. 14 PHOTOTGRAPHY CONSENT By entering the Event competitors accept that they may be photographed and/or videotaped participating in the race and/or using the Championship facilities and they consent to the taking of such images and to the use, reuse, publication and republication of such images in any media, in conjunction with the competitors name or not, without compensation and without the competitors approval of such images or any use thereof. 15 PRIZES Prizes will be given to the top three of the series, as well as the first female crew also from each class. Snipe Class will alsobe receiving the top Master crew. 16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority and the involved Class Associations, their officers, 4
