WHERE NOW? The Fife Arms is a world class hotel situated on the banks of the Clunie Water in Braemar. This famous Highland village is at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, a paradise for walkers and nature enthusiasts. WHO NOW? The hotel is looking for personable and enthusiastic people to join our opening team. Anybody is welcome to apply for a variety of different positions, experience is helpful, but more than anything else we are looking for a positive attitude, a natural flare for hospitality and a willingness to learn. WHEN NOW? After two years of sensitive refurbishment this beautiful 46 bedroom hotel will open its doors in the summer of 2018. Where now? Who now? When now? is the opening line of Samuel Beckett's 1953 novel The Unnamable. The novel is a mix of recollections and existential musings, with no concrete plot or setting and is the third part of Beckett s trilogy of novels, which begins with Molly followed by Malone Dies. 02

IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Braemar is an incredibly beautiful place to live and work. Every season has something different to offer and there are many exciting opportunities. There is nothing quite like the glamour and elegance of a grand hotel, and the hospitality industry offers many varied and challenging careers that can take you to magical places. I was hooked after making my way through the revolving door at my first hotel. I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder to the position of General Manager. The success of a hotel is built on the quality of its service and the dedication of its staff. The Fife Arms will be a place where it is possible for people to grow and develop their talents. I have met many interesting people and travelled all over the world during my career, however Braemar and The Fife Arms feel like home, I can t wait to open the doors and breathe new life into this great hotel. I hope that you will join me there. Federica Bertolini, General Manager It was love at first sight is the opening line from Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. Published in 1961, this novel is often cited as one of the greatest literary works of the 20th century. 04
SUMMER ON THE HIGH PLATEAU CAN BE AS DELECTABLE AS HONEY BRAEMAR Surrounded by the majestic Grampian Mountains and ancient woodlands, Braemar is a delightful village and a year round destination. The striking countryside, nearby castles and whisky distilleries make it an ideal base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park. Situated on Royal Deeside the village offers an abundance of activities for residents and visitors, it is a paradise for walkers, climbers or wanderers. The local estates offer guests excellent stalking, shooting and fishing and in the winter months nearby Glenshee provides the best skiing in Scotland. Quality game meats will be a staple on the hotel's menu and the local flora and fauna offer many delights including heather honey, mushrooms, birch sap, wild garlic and fruit berries. The Scottish larder is large and diverse and the hotel will source the best local ingredients from farmers, fishermen, craft producers and artisans. Braemar is a wonderful place to call home and we can t wait to share its delights with both our team and guests. 'Summer on the high plateau can be as delectable as honey is the opening line from The Living Mountain, Nan Shepherd s celebrated book on the Cairngorms. Written in 1944, the book is a poetic guide to exploring the mountains on foot. 05
