Each location will have a Central Check-in Point. This will usually be under a tent. Coaches should go there first and let them know your team is on site. They will also inform you of any last minute changes. Referees should report to the Referee Tent. 2. Each site will have a Site-Supervisor. This person will be in charge of the games at that site. They will determine if the fields are playable at the start of the day and will determine if the games can resume if stopped for lightning. The Site-Supervisor will also resolve any issues not covered in this handbook. 3. Each region makes team assignments. The team prefix in the schedules designates the region and the number represents the assigned team. For example GV3 would be the third team from Glenview. The regional designations are: DF for Deerfield; GV for Glenview; MG for Morton Grove; HP for Highland Park; SK for Skokie; RP for Rogers Park and PP for Peterson Park. 4. If play is suspended, the games missed during the suspension will not be made up. Once play has resumed, the schedule will be followed as published. March 26, 2017 2 REV -
5. The schedule refers to field numbers. These numbers should be prominently displayed on the nets for each field. There is also a map of the fields at the Central Check-in Point. Please locate each field your team will be playing on as soon as you get your schedule. 6. Each game will have a fixed end time (:25 and :55 after the hour). Your game is over then. Any time lost cannot be made up, so it is in your best interest to be ready to go at your appointed start time. Also time spent substituting players will come out of playing time, so be prepared for the substitution breaks. 7. Each site will sound a horn to signify the end of each game. If the referee has not signaled the end of the game by the time the horn sounds, he or she should do so immediately. The teams for the next game get the field at this point. 8. If your team has games scheduled back-to-back, every effort will be made to have the second game be on the same or adjacent field as the first game. 9. Each location has scheduled referees for the games, however, referees from visiting teams are encouraged to bring their uniforms and stop by the Central Check-in Point to fill in any open games. Referees should not sign-up for games involving their children 10. Should there be no referee for your game; each team will provide a coach or a referee for a half of the game. Remember that the person on the field with the children must be a registered volunteer. 11. Keep in mind: These games are for fun. Everyone should have a good time. This includes the opposing team. Please do all you can to keep scores reasonable. 12. Each team should have their own first-aid kit to treat minor injuries. The Central Check-in Point will have additional first aid supplies. Remember that all cuts must be covered for a child to play. Tournament Format 1. The AreaFest will cover U10 and U12. 2. Each Region will send boys and girls teams from each Division. 3. Each team will play at least 3 games. 4. There will be no standings kept. 5. The schedules will be made before the AreaFest starts. 6.
