(Glen Flippance/Mary Sticca) PRESIDENT S REPORT: Stan Cockerton introduced OLA President, Mr. John Doherty. Welcome to the Ontario Lacrosse Association s 2016 AGM. This year was very busy and extremely successful for Ontario Lacrosse with many fantastic accomplishments coming out of our membership. I want to thank everyone who has given me their assistance and with the great group of people I had the privilege to work with, there was no doubt that we would have another banner year for Lacrosse in Ontario. I want to thank the OLA Board of Directors, Board of Governors, Stan and the Office Staff for their assistance over the last 11 years. Everyone worked well together and when there was a job to do there were many hands to help with the task at hand. Most importantly everyone had fun, making sure that the quality of Lacrosse that we play in Ontario was second to none, anywhere in Canada or the World. Internationally, Team Canada s 2016 U19 Men s Field Lacrosse team had an exceptional performance at the 2016 U19 Men s Field Lacrosse Championship bringing home the silver medal losing to the US by 1 goal. There were 21 players from Ontario out of a total of 26 on the Team Canada roster. 2016 was another outstanding year for Ontario Lacrosse at the National Championships. Team Ontario Bantam and Midget Girls won their respective Gold National Girls Championship in Calgary, Alberta. Team Ontario Peewees and Midgets won their respective National Championships in Whitby, Ontario and Team Ontario Bantams captured the Bantam National Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. From the National Junior to Major box lacrosse viewpoint, Ontario Teams performed very well. The Orangeville Jr. B Northmen won the 2016 Founders Cup Jr. B National Championship that was played at home in Orangeville. At the 2016 Minto Cup Jr. A National Championship that was held in Langley, BC, the Orangeville Jr. A Northmen brought home the silver medal. At the 2016 Presidents Cup Sr. B National Championship hosted in Leduc, Alberta, the Brooklin Merchants returned to Ontario with the Bronze medal. The 2016 Mann Cup, Sr. A National Championship was won by the Six Nations Chiefs which was held in Six Nations. The U15 Alumni Cup National Championship was won by the U15 Team Ontario and the U18 First Nations Trophy Field Lacrosse Championship was captured by the U18 Team Ontario. The Tournament was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba in September. Congratulations to both teams. Congratulations to all the teams that participated in the OLA Provincials held during the 2016 Ontario Lacrosse Festival. This year was the 13 th anniversary for the Ontario Lacrosse Festival and over the 10 days of the Festival we saw over 470 teams with more than 10,600

participants competing for 36 Provincial and National Championships. The successful planning and management by Ron MacSpadyen along with his dedicated group of volunteers made the 2016 Festival outstanding and enjoyed by all participants and spectators. Thanks to everyone who volunteered this year at the festival. This event was tremendously successful due to your help. Overall, lacrosse in Ontario had an outstanding year and as it comes to an end I feel somewhat torn as after 11 years of being your President, I have chosen not to stand again for this position and I will move on to the role of Past President. Thank you to all of my Lacrosse friends who have provided me their assistance and cooperation over the years to work to grow our great game of Lacrosse. Thank You TREASURER S REPORT: Financial Statement copies were circulated by V.P. Finance George MacDonald.
