P(UK) SOUTH SHOW 5TH MAY 2012 IN HAND CLASSES PONIES (UK) 2012 CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS Summer National Championships 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd placed horses/ponies in all Summer National Championship classes will qualify for the 2012 P(UK) Summer National Championships held at Newark & Notts Showground on 8 th -11 th August 2012. Mixed height class 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd qualify only. Competitors in qualifying positions, who are not current members of P(UK) are allowed 14 days in which to become members and register their horses/ponies in order for the qualification to remain valid. Lee-Smith Home Produced Summer Championships. The highest placed Lee-Smith Home Produced Member in each P(UK) National Championship qualifying class in possession of a current Lee-Smith Summer Competition Card will qualify for the Lee-Smith Home Produced Summer Championships. Competition Cards must be signed by the Judge/Steward before leaving the ring. Sherwood Restricted National Summer Championships Open to NON Members & P(UK) Members 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed horses/ponies in each Ponies Association (UK) Summer National Championship Qualifying class who have not qualified for Horse of the Year Show in 2011 will qualify. These classes are for young athletic Horses/Ponies that have the conformation and movement to go to the top of their sphere. All animals to enter the ring together to be assessed as a class and for the temperament of each individual animal. All exhibits then will leave the ring and will re-enter individually for allocation of marks. The class is to be judged in the following manner: 1. The Judge to stand at A. Exhibit will be awarded marks for conformation out of a maximum of 20 marks. 2. The exhibit to walk the triangle: A-B, B-C, C-A. Marks to be awarded out of a maximum of 20 marks for the walk. 3. The exhibit to trot the triangle: A-B, B-C, C-A. Marks to be awarded out of a maximum of 20 marks for the trot. 4. Overall impression to be awarded out of a maximum of 20 marks as exhibit leaves the ring. Lead Rein to be attached to the noseband only. Rider not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. P(UK) BRINETON M&M FIRST RIDDEN SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER Purple Ring Judge: Mrs G Wright Class R18 Open Mountain & Moorland, mare or gelding, 4 years old & over, not exceeding 128cms. Registered in the approved Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, New Forest, Shetland or Welsh Section A or B. To be shown in any suitable bridle. Rider not to have attained their 12 th birthday before1 st January in the current year. CHAMPIONSHIP: 1 st & 2 nd prize winners from classes R17-R18 compete. Part Breds & mares with a living foal born in the current season are not eligible to compete. The highest placed exhibit not already qualified within the first three places in classes 19 25 will qualify Classes 41 48 will be run in accordance with the Horse of The Year Show Rules and Regulations, details of which can be obtained via their website www.hoys.co.uk Entry Fee Please see page 18 All Horse of Year Show Entry Fees include 10.50 contribution. These classes will be judged as follows: Phase A: Show, Freedom of action 50 marks Phase B: Breed, type, conformation 50 marks Total 100 marks In the case of equality the pony with the highest show, freedom and action mark will be deemed the winner. If there still be equality at this point, then the judges decision will be final. The class will give a round show then Phases A & B will be judged simultaneously.. Registered in the approved Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland or Welsh Section A, B, C or D. Rider not to have attained their 25 th Birthday before the 1 st January in the current year. Mare or gelding, 4 years old & over. RULES & REGULATIONS OF THE SHOW 1. All exhibitors entering shall be considered as having read the following rules and regulations. Anything not covered shall be decided by the Chairman and Council in consultation with the secretary of any Breed Show Society concerned or with the Show Veterinary Surgeon in cases calling for their opinion. 2. The decision of the Chairman and the Council will be final. 3. ENTRIES No entries will be accepted unless: a) Lodged in a proper manner on the official and appropriate form, signed by the exhibitor or an authorised agent, and complying in every respect with these Regulations and any conditions that may be specified. No substitution or nomination entry will be accepted. b) Horse/Ponies must be registered and entered in the name of their legal registered owner. When a lease/loan is negotiated the Horse/Pony will not be treated as the Property of the Lessee/Borrower until the Lease/Loan has been registered with Ponies Association (UK) c) The appropriate fee or fees are paid by the entry closing date. Entry fees are not refundable even with a vets certificate d) Entries will be accepted by Post, fax, online or via electronic email (when available). Acknowledgements will be sent via email where available. e) Changes and alterations to entries must be completed on an official form and submitted before (entry closing date plus 1 week) plus an administration charge of 10. No changes, alterations or corrections will be administrated after this date. f) The Association reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry already accepted, without any reason for doing so. Whenever under this Regulation an entry is refused or cancelled, or an exhibit is refused admission or removed, the fees paid may at the discretion of the Council, be refunded and, if refunded, shall be accepted by the exhibitor or intending exhibitor in full satisfaction of all claims against the Association. g) Every exhibitor will be held responsible for the correctness of his/her entry. If, when called upon to prove the correctness, he/she fails to do so, the entry in question will not be accepted or if already accepted may be cancelled or the exhibit may be disqualified, and any award cancelled. h) HORSE & PONY REGISTRATION: All exhibits must be registered in their respective Pure Breed Society Stud Books or Part Bred Stud Books and will be judged according to the Ponies Association (UK) Rules. All horses/ponies entered into the Championship classes must be Registered with Ponies Association (UK) i) STUD LICENCES: All stallions & 2 or 3 year old Colts must hold a licence, unless otherwise governed by the individual Breed Society and MAY NOT be entered into the Young Handler or Junior M&M Ridden Classes. j) Handlers/Riders may only compete with one horse/pony in any one SHOWING class. A competitor may ride more than one exhibit (maximum 2) in a Confined Novice Working Hunter/Pony, Open Working Hunter/Pony, M&M Working Hunter Pony, Style & Performance, Competition/Potential Dressage Horse/Pony Burghley Event Pony and Zenith WH/WHP Classes, but before the final phase must nominate to the Ring Steward which horse/pony he/she will ride for the final presentation of marks and rosettes. Once the class has commenced there shall be no change of rider, except in a Championship k) Acceptance of a cheque combining entry fees and stabling is not acceptance or confirmation that stabling is available. l) It is the responsibility of the Exhibitor/Competitor not to enter a class that may result in simultaneous judging times in adjacent rings. m) Lee-Smith Home Produced Classes & Championships Horses/ponies must be owned, produced, ridden/led by the owner/spouse, or his/her, son/daughter/grandchild. Owners of horse/ponies entering these classes must be current Lee-Smith Home Produced members, riders/handlers must be current A, Senior or Junior Riders Club members and the horse/pony must be currently registered with P (UK) in order to compete in these classes. 4. STABLING a) Stabling is not available on the showground. b) Horses/ponies must not be placed in a corral on the showground/or left in horseboxes on site over night 5. CONTROL & CONDUCT a) All exhibitors and persons admitted to the Showground shall be subject to the Rules, Bylaws, Regulations and Conditions of Ponies (UK) and the Chairman shall have the power to suspend or remove from the showground, anyone who refuses to comply with the instructions given by the stewards or whose conduct shall be in the view of the chairman derogatory or prejudicial to the interests of Ponies Association (UK) or its members, or who shall have been guilty of an act or admission, involving cruelty or unnecessary suffering to any animal. The Chairman s decision will be final. b) Any animal not under control or in any way constituting a danger shall be removed from the show ring at the request of the Judge, Steward or Chairman. c) Neither Ponies Association (UK) or any of its officers, assistants or Stewards, shall in any way be responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may happen to exhibitors or their assistants, or any other members of the public or to any animal or property, or to any vehicle brought into the showground or to any premises used in conjunction with the show, or while entering or leaving the same. d) Exhibitors shall be responsible for the behaviour of their assistants and riders and all persons in charge of exhibits shall be subject to the orders of the Stewards or Judges. All exhibitors including grooms and other attendants, attending exhibitors in the judging rings must be correctly dressed wearing a jacket and must wear a hat. e) FIRE PRECAUTIONS BARBECUES: To prevent any fire risks, exhibitors must not hold barbecue parties in the horsebox lines. f) DOGS: Dogs must be kept under control and on a lead at all times whilst on the showground. They will not be permitted in the arena. Please remember to clean up after your dog at all times. g) MOTORCYCLES and SCOOTERS are BARRED and this rule will be strictly adhered to. BICYCLES may not be ridden on the showground at any time. h) Any exhibitor who allows their children to break the above rule will be disqualified and NOT allowed to compete. i) SAFETY: The Highway Code is applicable on the showground. All vehicles are forbidden from driving around the showground except those with official passes. j) Anyone causing a disturbance or any bad behaviour throughout the showground is liable to be disqualified from competing in the show and future membership reviewed. k) It is strongly recommended that all exhibitors carry adequate Public Liability Insurance. The Association does not accept any liability for any injury or damage sustained by any third party what so ever. OBJECTIONS shall be made in writing with the objector s full name and address within one hour of the event concerned and lodged at the secretary s office together with the sum of 100 deposit. The sum shall be refunded if the objection is sustained but if the objection is not sustained the deposit will be forfeited to the funds of Ponies Association (UK). The Disciplinary Council will consist of: The Chairman, a Member of the Council and an Official of the Show. 15

6. JUDGES, TIMETABLE & AWARDS a) The Judges decision is final. The Council reserves the right to substitute, add or remove any judge from any class or Championship. b) TIMETABLE: Judging times are as accurate as possible at the time of printing the schedule. Show entries must not be made from this timetable as it is subject to change. Please check the final copy on the day of the show. c) CANCELLATION OF CLASSES: Classes may be cancelled or amalgamated at the discretion of Ponies Association (UK). d) Prize money and Rosettes will be awarded as stated in the schedule of the show. Exhibits in classes with two phases, may not be required for phase two or the judging procedure at the discretion of the Judge. e) The number of animals which shall give an individual display in any class shall be entirely the decision of the Judge(s). f) Prize Money if not collected at the show MUST be claimed within 14 days of the show or it will be deemed a donation to the show. 7. ARTIFICIAL AIDS & HARD HATS a) All artificial aids are forbidden with the exception of correctly fitted standing and running martingales and elasticated side reins for lunging only on Ponies Association (UK) Showground s. b) Spurs/dress spurs must NOT be worn in any Show Pony/Intermediate Working Hunter/Intermediate Show Hunter Type/Intermediate Show Riding Type/Show Hunter Pony/Working Hunter Pony Competition/ Horse/Pony or any Ridden Mountain & Moorland class. See Current P(UK) Rulebook. In all other classes, including Zenith, Burghley & Mini-Burghley only BLUNT spurs may be used unless the class is run under the auspices of an individual Governing Body when their rules must be conformed to. c) SHOW CANES or WHIPS are not to exceed thirty inches (75cms). In lead rein classes plain or leather covered canes may only be used. d) HATS: to the approved current BSI standard must be worn and correctly secured at all shows affiliated to Ponies (UK). Riders NOT competing in Lead Rein or First Ridden classes may wear current approved BSI Bowlers or Top Hats during an Afternoon Gala or Evening Gala Performance. For classes run under the auspices of an individual Governing Body, their rules must be conformed to. e) Handlers of horses/ponies competing in In Hand classes aged 14 years and under must wear correctly secured current British Standard Skull/Riding Hats. 8. ANIMAL HEALTH & SAFETY a) SOUNDNESS: All animals must be sound. The Judge s reserve the right to have any exhibit examined by the Official Veterinary Surgeon. The council reserve the right to have any exhibit qualifying for a Championship examined by the Official Veterinary Surgeon. b) DISEASE: Any animal found to be suffering from any contagious or infectious disease shall be removed from the showground immediately at the request of the Veterinary Surgeon. The committee reserve the right to ask any exhibitor with a horse/pony which Judges consider unfit, to leave the ring. Any animal found to be so affected will, on a certificate from Ponies Association (UK) Veterinary Officer be disqualified from competing and must be removed from the showground by the exhibitor without delay. c) FLU VACCINATIONS: Ponies Association (UK) recommends all exhibitors should have an up to date certificate of vaccinations against equine flu. d) Stallions/Colts may not be led by any Juniors who have not attained their 14 th birthday before the 1 st January in the current year at any show affiliated to Ponies Association (UK) e) Any pony stallion not exceeding 138cms OR Small Breed Mountain & Moorland Stallions i.e. Exmoor, Dartmoor, Shetland or Welsh A or B may not be ridden by Juniors who have not attained their 12 th birthday before 1 st January in the current year at any show affiliated to Ponies (UK). Stallions exceeding 138cms OR Large Breed Mountain & Moorland Stallions i.e. Connemara, Dales, Fells, New Forest, Welsh C & Welsh D may not be ridden by any Juniors who have not attained their 14 th birthday before 1 st January in the current year at any show affiliated to Ponies (UK) f) Payment of Medical/Veterinary Fees the payment of this fee allows Ponies Association (UK) to provide emergency medical & veterinary cover ON SITE at the Associations Shows. Exhibitors are responsible for the payment of any fees incurred by the use of these services. 9. DOPE TESTING a) Dope Testing means the examination of a horse/pony by a duly qualified person appointed by Ponies Association (UK) and includes taking samples for subsequent analysis of all or any body fluid, tissues, excreta, hair or skin scrapings at the discretion of the person conducting the examination. b) All animals taking part in any class will be liable to dope testing. Random Dope Tests may be made at any Ponies Association (UK) Shows. The presence of prohibited substances will render both exhibitor and pony liable to disqualification c) Test will be conducted according to Jockey Club Rules. d) It is the responsibility of the Member/Exhibitor having such custody of a horse/pony, particularly in the twenty four hours before the show, to ensure that nothing is fed, administered or applied to a horse/pony that contains a Prohibited Substance. Ignorance is not an adequate defence. e) If there is a presence of a Prohibited Substance Ponies Association (UK) Disciplinary Council shall investigate the matter and decide what disciplinary proceeding will apply within fourteen days of the date of posting by Ponies Association (UK) of notification of a positive dope test to the Member/Exhibitor. f) The horse/pony shall be suspended from being entered or shown or otherwise taking part in any Affiliated Show pending the outcome of the disciplinary procedure. 10. HEIGHT MEASUREMENT HEIGHT MEASUREMENT REGULATIONS: The council reserve the right to measure any class by their Official Veterinary Surgeon on the showground s official measuring pad unless a current JMB Height Certificate is presented. 1cm will be allowed for shoes. Any exhibitor not adhering to the conditions laid down for the class will automatically be disqualified from competing and NO entry fees will be refunded. 11. TROPHIES Trophies will be presented in the ring at the time of final Judging. Trophies will then be returned to the secretary s office. Exhibitors may arrange to have a photo taken with the Trophy after presentation has taken place. All Trophies will be maintained and stored by Ponies Association (UK). 16
