Royal Greenland Prawns Cooked & Peeled Excellent quality 125-175 Royal Greenland is the world s largest supplier of cold water prawns (Pandalus borealis). The prawns are caught when they are between 5-6 years old. The slow growth in the clean and icy waters around Greenland gives the prawns a perfectly firm texture and a unique sweet and fresh taste. Royal Greenland cooked & peeled prawns are caught inshore at great depths by smaller fishing boats that are at sea only a few days at a time. The prawns are put on ice immediately after catch to keep them perfectly fresh until the boat docks. After returning to port, the prawns are unloaded and transferred to the prawn factory, located in the harbour area, where they are cooked, peeled, frozen and packed. Prawns Pandalus borealis These prawns are Single frozen and they are of the highest quality. The term Single frozen means that our prawns are kept fresh until they are peeled and then finally frozen, meaning they have only been frozen once. Single frozen prawns retain their taste and texture much better than double frozen prawns. Royal Greenland cooked & peeled prawns: - have a nice sweet taste - have a decorative red colour - have a minimum of impurities 175-275 275-375 400-600 500-800 Extra Large (XL)... 125 175 Large (L)... 175 275 Medium (M)... 275 375 Small (S)... 400 600 Extra Small (XS)...500-800 Count: Count is a measure for the number of prawns it takes to make up a given weight. Royal Greenland Snow Crab - Taste the difference Royal Greenland s snow crabs (Chionoecetes opilio) are caught in the icy waters off West Greenland between Upernavik in the North and Nanortalik in the South. The Snow crabs are caught in small traps baited with squid, mackerel or cod. This traditional fishing method is gentle towards the crab and at the same time environmentally friendly. Sorting by hand ensures that the snow crab population is sustained, since undersized crabs and females are set back alive and are thereby allowed to grow and contribute to the reproduction of the population. The minimum measurement is 10 cm across the shell and it takes the crab 8 to 10 years to reach this size. The live snow crabs are transported to Royal Greenland s processing plants in Paamiut, Sisimiut and Qeqertarsuaq in Greenland. Snow crab is processed alive which ensures maximum freshness. Royal Greenland is currently the only processer of snow crab in Greenland. Snow crab has delicate, juicy meat and is suitable for numerous dishes e.g. salads, soups, omelettes, sushi and the like. Trap fishery has two strong benefits: it is highly selective (not killing other species) and the product is landed alive for maximum quality. Snow Crab Chionoecetes opilio
