Trinity Brady, Basketball Brady, a junior, led the Wildcats to a thrilling 51-50 win over #6 Heritage Christian at home on Saturday. Down 1 point with 10 seconds left, Brady grabbed a rebound off a HC missed free throw, drove the length of the court and nailed a turnaround jumper with 2 seconds left for the win! She finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

Cheerleading: The Wildcat cheerleading squad will once again sponsor a food drive to benefit the LN food pantry. The team will be at the Fall Creek Kroger on December 2 nd from 9:00am 3:00pm to Stuff the Bus full of needed items for our Lawrence Township families. Mark the date and please stop by Kroger on December 2 nd and help us Stuff the Bus.

Girls Basketball: In what was a very competitive back & forth game, the #7 Wildcats (3-0) beat #6 Heritage Christian 51-50 on Saturday afternoon. With just over 10 seconds to play, and Heritage clinging to a 50-49 lead, the Eagles were at the line shooting a one-and-one. The first free throw missed, and Trinity Brady got the rebound. With time running out, she went the length of the court and nailed a turnaround jumper with 2 seconds left to put the Cats up, 51-50. Heritage put up a shot well past half court as time expired, just barely missing. Brady led the Wildcats with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Ashley Raines had 10 points and Justis Odom chipped in 9. These two teams have split very close games the last four years, and will most likely see each other again during the sectional tournament at the end of the year. The Wildcats play at Anderson this Wednesday before hosting Indianapolis Tindley on Saturday.

Boys Basketball: The boys basketball team has been getting ready for the 2017-18 season. The Wildcats will play Zionsville at home on Friday in a pre-season scrimmage, starting at 6:00pm. Head Coach Jack Keefer had the pleasure to see one of his former players sworn in as a judge in Louisville, KY last week - Derwin Webb, LN class of 1988, was an Indiana All-Star basketball player and the IHSAA state champ in the long jump. He was also recognized last year as the LN distinguished alumnus. Webb is pictured below with coach Keefer and fellow 1988 LN graduate Todd Hobson, who was an Indiana All-Star baseball player.

Boys/Girls Swimming: The girls swimming & diving team will get started this week with a home meet against Yorktown on Thursday night, starting at 5:30pm. The boys still have two weeks before the start of their competition season. Wrestling: The LN wrestlers get started this Saturday at the New Castle Invitational, starting at 8:30am. Six Wildcats Make College Commitments The LN athletic department celebrated on Friday morning with six of our Wildcat student-athletes, their families and friends. The following have signed to continue their athletic careers in 2018: Garrett Burhenn, Baseball Ohio State University Maddie Loughery, XC & Track University of Dayton Elizabeth Beasley, Volleyball University of Toledo Megan Beasley, Volleyball University of Toledo Lauren Matthews, Volleyball Western Kentucky University Katie Demas, Softball Trinity Christian College

Volleyball Player Lauren Matthews Indiana All-Star Lauren Matthews, already a back-to-back All-State selection, was selected to the Indiana All-Star team over the weekend. She and her Indiana teammates will be playing in the All-Star Series on Sunday, November 19 th at Lawrence North High School. Matthews, who signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Western Kentucky in 2018, is the 7 th player in LN history named to the Indiana All-Star team. Congratulations, Lauren!

All Winter Sports Teams Take NFHS Sportsmanship Course The Lawrence North winter athletics teams all took part in the NFHS Sportsmanship Course last week. The LN athletic department received the NCAA TeamWorks Community Partner Award in 2016 and the Crossroads Officials Association Sportsmanship Award in 2017. Lawrence North s school motto of Achieving Excellence, Building Character, Serving Others is something that each team tries to exemplify at all times; in the classroom, in the community, and in the athletic arena. The NFHS, the IHSAA, and Lawrence North High School stress that everyone has a role to play coaches coach, athletes play, officials officiate, and parents and fans cheer for their team. When everyone understands their role, everyone has a positive experience.
