He added 39 yards on the ground, which led all Warhawks, and a rushing touchdown as well. Smith has now thrown for over 200 yards in each of the Warhawks first three games this season. He has also been ULM s leading rusher in two of the three games (Southern U., Ga. Southern). Smith has tossed two touchdowns in all three of the Warhawks games this season, and has also tallied 200+ passing yards in each contest. Prior to Smith s three-game streak, the last Warhawk to pass for two touchdowns and 200+ yards in a single game was Pete Thomas - who threw two touchdowns and had 307 yards passing against Georgia Southern in the team s meeting back on November 29, 2014 in Statesboro. With his 10-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter against Georgia Southern, sophomore Marcus Green has nine touchdown receptions in ULM s last 11 games. He has touchdown receptions this season against Southern U. and Georgia Southern and ended his freshman campaign with seven touchdowns, all coming in the last eight games of the season. Green had 63 total yards receiving through two games prior to last Saturday night s 75-yard total. Sophomore linebacker David Griffith had three tackles for a loss in Saturday s game he had three total tackles for loss through the first two games. He now has 28 total tackles on the season after a 10-tackle night against Georgia Southern (including nine solo tackles), which leads the ULM lineup. The Georgia Southern loss was the first time that first-year ULM head coach Matt Viator lost his first conference game of the season since Sept. 22, 2012, when Viator s McNeese State team lost its Southland Conference opener at home to Southeastern Louisiana (25-24). SO WE MEET AGAIN Saturday s matchup will be the 10th meeting all-time between ULM and Auburn, with Auburn winning all nine previous matchups. The last meeting between the two teams came in 2012, when ULM followed up its season-opening win over Arkansas by going toe-to-toe with Auburn the next week on the plains of Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Warhawks came from two touchdowns down in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 28 and send the game into overtime. The Tigers were able to take advantage of a Justin Manton missed 37-yard field goal and beat ULM 31-28. FACING OFF AFTER A LOSS Last Saturday s game at Oklahoma marked the second consecutive season that the Warhawks faced a then-top 5 ranked team coming off of a loss...then-no. 3 Oklahoma was coming off of a 33-23 loss against Houston, while last season ULM traveled to take on Alabama on Sept. 26 a week after the second-ranked Crimson Tide fell to Ole Miss. The Warhawks dropped both games against Alabama and Oklahoma. PICK SIX Former ULM cornerback Junior Williams intercepted Georgia Southern quarterback Kevin Ellison and returned it 56 yards to the endzone. on October 3, 2015.. With his interception return for a score, the Warhawks have now recorded at least one interception return for a touchdown in four consecutive seasons. Below is a breakdown of ULM s interception returns for touchdowns over the last four seasons: Made Final Date Opponent Player Play Score Score Sep. 29, 2012 at Tulane Darius Lively 6 yard interception return 56-3 63-10 Oct. 12, 2013 at Texas State Isaiah Newsome 71 yard interception return 7-0 21-14 Oct. 12, 2013 at Texas State Isaiah Newsome 75 yard interception return 14-0 21-14 Aug. 28, 2014 Wake Forest Mitch Lane 31 yard interception return 10-10 17-10 Oct. 3, 2015 Georgia Southern Junior Williams 56 yard interception return 24-31 31-51 STREAK ENDED ULM s streak of defeating at least on power five team each season came to an end last year when the Warhawks fell at No. 12 Alabama on September 26, 2015... The Warhawks streak stood at three consecutive seasons after power five wins over No. 8 Arkansas (2012) and Wake Forest (2013 & 2014)... The streak was the second longest active streak among non-power five programs... ULM trailed only BYU who currently has defeated at least one power five team in 10 straight seasons. ON THE ROAD The Warhawks have a pretty even split among their 12 total games this season with five games at home and seven on the road...of the seven road contests, ULM will play in the Eastern Time Zone (3 times), Central Time Zone (3 times) and Mountain Time Zone (1 time). Via Google Maps the distance from JPS Field at Malone Stadium to all seven road venues comes to a total of 4,900 miles and that is just one direction -- double that amount and the round trip from ULM to each road venue comes to 9,800 miles. The donation from JPS Aviation/JPS Equipment Rental covered the cost of the new FieldTurf Revolution and for the donation, the name of the field will now be JPS Field at Malone Stadium... The length of the naming rights was set at a minimum of eight years... The new FieldTurf stretches wall-to-wall and totals 78,000 square feet... It is the same playing surface the Warhawks played on at Wake Forest in 2013 and other notable FBS schools that have the FieldTurf Revolution are: Louisville, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas, Texas Tech and Wisconsin...
