2016 - MISGA 2-MAN 2 TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT This year s championship tournament was contested on Thursday, August 4, at scenic Wild Quail Golf & Country Club in Wyoming, DE. In early morning, fifty very talented 2-man teams (100 finalists) representing 23 of MISGA s 56 clubs hopped into their autos and hit the roads of Maryland and Delaware to vie for the honor of being crowned MISGA s Gross and Net 2-Man Team Grand Champions. Zeus, the Greek storm and sky god, was very cooperative. The old guy provided ample sunshine, comfortable temperatures and no wind. Wild Quail s tee boxes, fairways and greens were in superb playing shape. However, due to recent intemperate weather, the aprons around a number of the greens were in a bit of stress. Thus, winter rules were permitted. From the forward (gold) tees, the par 72 course measured 5,871 yards with a course rating of 68.4 and a slope of 122. Playing time ranged from first in at 4 hours, 22 minutes to last in at 4 hours, 56 minutes. Wild Quail Golf & Country Club After the final foursome s scorecards had been tabulated, attested and posted, Jeff Allen & Dave Cox (Wild Quail - Div. I) had shot a blazing, 8 under par, gross 64. Their score set a new low gross score for the MISGA 2MT tournament. They won big time - by a margin of 5 strokes over the second place team - Ray Campbell & Craig Walker (Hog Neck - Div. I). For their golfing prowess Allen & Cox were crowned Gross Grand Champions ($100 gift certificate & trophy). GROSS GRAND CHAMPIONS (L-R): Lloyd Stimson (MISGA Tournament Chairman); Tom Rowlett (MISGA President); Jeff Allen (GGC); Bob Hodges (Tournament Coordinator - knelling); Dave Cox (GGC); Rick McCall (WQ GM & Director of Golf) 1

On the Net side of the tournament, Tim Brewer & Patrick Normyle (Rattlewood - Div. II) shot a blistering, 20 under par, net 52. Their monumental score tied the record low net for the MISGA 2MT tournament. They too, won big time - by a margin of 6 strokes over the 2nd place team - Chris Fanning & Tim Fowler (Fairway Hills - Div. VI). For their golfing prowess, Brewer & Normyle were crowned Net Grand Champions ($100 gift certificate & trophy). Special kudos go to Normyle who has been on the Net Grand Champions team in 4 of the last 6 tournaments. NET GRAND CHAMPIONS (L-R): Lloyd Stimson (MISGA Tournament Chairman); Tim Brewer (NGC); Rick McCall (WQ GM & Director of Golf); Patrick Normyle (NGC); Bob Hodges (Tournament Coordinator - knelling); Tom Rowlett (MISGA President) Many thanks and kudos go to the entire staff of Wild Quail Country Club. Their hard work and diligence provided MISGA with a fantastic tournament. Praise and thanks must go to GM & Director of Golf Rick McCall for agreeing to host our tournament. Success always begins at the top. Gratitude and many thanks go to Wild Quail s energetic and personable Assistant Pro Chris Ray and the other members of the pro shop staff. The outstanding performance of the pro shop team ensured the success of all golf related activities. Special kudos and thanks go to Course Superintendent Jason Cheeks and his gifted course management team. They had the tee boxes, fairways and greens in superior playing condition. The stressed aprons surrounding a number of greens were not a serious playing impairment. It was a pure pleasure to play the course. Many accolades go to Special Events Director Jessica Strever and Executive Chef Lorraine and their entire dining and bar staffs. They provided an excellent pre-golf box lunch for all the participants and volunteers. This was followed by a relaxing and most pleasant post -golf cocktail hour with appropriate libations and delectable hors d oeuvres. 2

For the awards banquet, the greybeard finalists were treated to a connoisseur s double entrée feast (filet & crab cake) with equally tasty sides, a cheese cake dessert and apt beverages. All were an epicurean s delight. The success of this year s 2-Man Team tournament could not have been accomplished without the attentiveness, efforts and management skills of WQCC s MISGA Club Rep Bob Hodges who served as the Tournament Coordinator. He was everywhere doing everything. His performance at the helm was no less than outstanding. Special recognition, thanks and accolades must go to the MISGA members of WQCC who so graciously volunteered their time to assist with player registration, the 50/50 pool and other tournament related activities. Their efforts were priceless. Lloyd Stimson MISGA Tournament Chairman A complete list of all the winners follows on pages 4 & 5.
