General provisions Note students swimming in a programme and or who hold a membership of a swimming club other than the Perth College Swim Academy or the Perth City Swimming Club are not eligible for the bursary as described in this document. However, they are still eligible for selection on the IGSSA Swim team. Definitions IGSSA/JIGSSA-specific training sessions (Perth College students only) During summer 4 x IGSSA & 3 x JIGSSA swim sessions are offered per week. During Terms two and three (winter) 2 x IGSSA and 1 x JIGSSA swim sessions are offered per week. (see schedules in associated information sheet). These sessions are for members or prospective members of the School swim team and the primary focus will be on: Race skills Starts and turns Relay changes Sprint work Squad-Based Training Sessions The Perth College Swim Academy provides a squad-based programme that operate all year. (see attached squad schedules and squad descriptions in the associated information sheet). These sessions are available for all bursary holders and the primary focus will be on Advanced Swim Skills Endurance work Goal Setting Race Planning Squad Allocation On acceptance of a bursary the student will be assigned to a squad that will best be able to develop their swimming ability. The Head Coach in consultation with the Physical Education department will make an assessment based on the student s skills and ability at the time. During the year, a student who demonstrates significant improvement may be promoted to a higher squad. (see attached squad schedules and squad descriptions in the associated information sheet). Therefore, the value of the bursary is dependent on which squad the student is allocated to. The Fee Schedule below depicts the cost and saving for the bursary by squad and percentage. 5

Fee Schedule as as April 2017 Perth College Swimming 2018 Conditions Once a bursary has been approved and agreed, to the balance of the Perth College Swim Academy Squad Fees will be charged to the Student account as a one-off payment payable in advance. No refund will be made if the student withdraws from the programme unless exceptional circumstances apply. The amount of the bursary is fixed. If during the course of the bursary a student is promoted to another squad there will be no additional charge. If the student achieves a qualifying time after the commencement date of the bursary that would qualify them for a higher level bursary, they will not receive the additional discount until the commencement of the next bursary period. All bursaries expire at the end of April 2018 and it is intended, subject to funding approval, that they will be offered again in subsequent years. For those students who are already members of the Perth College Swim Academy and are accepted to take up the bursary, any payment already made for the period covered by the bursary will be pro-rated and deducted off the amount due. 6

The Eligibility Criteria and the level of fee relief offered will be reviewed each year and are subject to change. 7

Appendix 1 Qualifying times used to determine level of bursary offered: The number on the top line indicates the age of the student and the numbers in the columns the qualifying times for each age group. For example, the state qualifying time for a 13-year-old in the 50m freestyle is 31.60 seconds and the national qualifying time for a 13-year-old in the 50m freestyle is 28.40 Seconds (Note - national qualifying times for 12 and 13 year olds are the same). * Times current as at April 2017 Note Only the 50m and 100m sprint events are used to determine the bursary level. Qualifying times in longer distance events are not considered. For the time to be considered a student must have achieved the qualifying time when they were the age indicated and the time must have been achieved in the last 12 months (May 2016 to April 2017). For example, if a student was 12 years when they achieved the state qualifying time in December 2016, turned 13 years of age in January 2017 and have not yet achieved the 13 year old state qualifying time, they would be eligible for the Level 2 bursary. Only long course times will be recognised. Students who are not registered with Swimming WA can use times achieved at the school swimming carnival. If you do not know your school-based time, please leave that section blank on the application form and the school will confirm your personal best time. There are no national qualifying times for 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly, as these are not recognised events at the Australian Age Championships. No qualifying times are required for the Level 1 (50 per cent) bursary. A state qualifying time makes a student eligible for a Level 2 (60 per cent) bursary. A national qualifying time makes a student eligible for a Level 3 (80 per cent) bursary. 8
