The series is the second most-played in Loyola history, behind only Mount St. Mary s, a team the Greyhounds faced for the 17rd time next month. Thursday s game is the third of a fourgame series between the schools. The Greyhounds hold a 44-29 advantage in the all-time series, but the Tigers have won the last two meetings, including a 70-5 victory on December 7, 2016, in Towson. In last year s game, Towson turned an 11-9 lead seven minutes into the game to a 41-17 halftime advantage, using a defense that stretched the floor, and despite a Loyola second-half run, the Tigers posted a 70-5 win. Andre Walker hit a three at 1:07 that drew the Greyhounds within two, 11-9, but Loyola had just two field goals and three free throws during the remainder of the half. Mike Morsell scored eight of his game-high 21 points during that 0-8 Towson run. He was one of four Tigers in double-figures, going 10-12 from the freethrow line for nearly half of his points Towson stretched its advantage to as many as 2, 55-2, less than seven minutes into the second half, but John Davis jumper at 1:7 was just one of two field goals the Tigers made over the next sixplus minutes. William Adala Moto scored in the paint with 11:5 on the clock to put Towson in front 57-0, but Loyola reeled off the next 11 points, capped by James Fives scoring four in a row. An Ian Langendoerfer three from the left side with 5:1 to go cut the Tigers lead to 1, and Chancellor Barnard had a steal and was fouled, hitting one of two at the line to bring Loyola within 11 at :47. The teams would trade baskets on the next two possessions, and Loyola could not draw closer than that margin. Jarred Jones scored 11 of his Loyolabest 1 points in the second half to lead the Greyhounds. Cam Gregory added 10 points and eight rebounds, pacing all players on the boards. Jones also had seven rebounds. About The Tigers Towson enters the game with a 1-1 record having lost 57-54 in its season-opener at Old Dominion and beaten Frostburg State, 89-45, on Monday night.
