Mayor s Welcome Mayor s Welcome Dear Senior Olympians! As the Mayor of a young at heart college town, I would like to invite you to participate in the 2018 Wyoming Senior Olympics and also to participate in our 150th Anniversary celebrations! Laramie is a great little college town of about 32,000 residents, but we have many of the activities and amenities of a town much larger than ours. While you are here you ll have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Louis Madrid Sports Complex at the University of Wyoming for Track & Field, we will have our running Road Races along the Laramie River Greenbelt this year and Tennis and Pickleball will be at the new Laramie High School. We also have excellent outdoor recreation opportunities such as fishing in any of the numerous lakes, rivers and streams from the Laramie River to Lake Marie. Camping and hiking up at Happy Jack or at campgrounds in the Snowy Range are always beautiful in August, and of course we have a downtown chock full of restaurants, shops and taverns. Join us downtown on Thursday for the Parade of Athletes through the downtown followed by our Opening Ceremonies and the traditional pasta dinner. We will wrap up the evening with live music as the sun sets behind our beautiful Historic Depot, highlighting the thing that brought us all here in the first place, the railroad. We hope you ll make plans to stay a few extra days and find out what makes Laramie such a special place to all of us who live here. Sincerely, 2 Andi Summerville, Laramie Mayor www.wyseniorolympics.com 721-3573
