Over the last few years we have been attempting to build one of the best early season tuna tournaments in our area. After Mother Nature continued to send us back to the drawing board, with the help of those wanting to see this event come to fruition, we feel we ve finally got it! The newly renamed MidAtlantic Tuna Tournament now features an extended fishing window, Captain s choice trip options, and Calcutta s catered to a broader range of anglers. With Mother Nature working with us this time around, this will surely be one of our best events to save the date for on your fishing calendar! Our extended weather window now includes Thursday and continues through Sunday. With the understanding that some of our participants have more demanding schedules throughout the week, the addition of Sunday provides the full available weekend to fish. The Captain s Meeting will be held on Wednesday night at South Jersey Marina s Saltwater Café. While keeping our signature MidAtlantic hospitality in mind, the Café s service will be a great way to kick off the event. Over the four available fish days, participants can now choose to fish either two 11 hour day trips or one 22 hour overnighter. With overnight fishing not being a valid option for some due to boat sizes, comforts, or just personal preference, the addition of the day trip options open up the event to those who prefer it. Day trip departures begin at 12:00am and fishing starts by 4:30am, giving participants plenty of time to get to the fishing grounds at their best pace and safely. Better yet, the start time is right on que for that early morning tuna bite that bigeye are especially known for. The 3:30pm deadline offers more than enough time to cover some ground for the big one! On the other hand, you ll have the overnight option to choose from. Departing at 1:30pm, it too offers a solid four hours for running. With lines in beginning at 5:30pm it allows you time to hone in on that hot spot before sunset, when the bite is known to fire back up. Whether you prefer to drift through the night or troll during the day, over the 22 hours of scheduled fishing, we ll expect to see plenty of boats loaded up for the ride home. While keeping weather in mind, we ve created Fish-Day Forms leaving the final decision on which fishing option to choose all the way up until the time of your departure. Our Calcutta structure has a unique twist built into it as well. Within each category are three Calcutta levels to choose from. However, our minimum In The Game Calcutta s are for those who don t want to risk as much against crews who have spent more time targeting tuna. If you re up to put more on the line our Double Down Calcutta s can be added into the mix for chance to win even more. Our High Stakes Calcutta s offer the highest payouts for Captains and their crews to take home substantial prize money at the conclusion of the event! If you prefer to cover more area in search of a good Yellowfin bite or stay on top of the Bigeye until they surface, this tournament is for you. If you rather head out and back in one day or spend the night on the ocean, this tournament is for you. Whether you re interested in getting into your first big game fishing tournament, an experienced angler or professional team, this tournament is for you! With all the options we ve made available for this event, you certainly won t want to miss the chance to WIN BIG at this year s MidAtlantic Tuna Tournament.
