Year group: 7 Netball Tier Level 3-5 Length Outwitting an Opponent Unit description Pupils will learn to use basic principles of play when selecting and applying tactics for defending and attacking. Pupils will develop the skills necessary to outwit opponents. Passing, receiving, shooting, intercepting and beating an opponent will be developed through small sided games and conditional situations. Demonstrating high quality performances and accurate replication will be assessed. 6/7 weeks Learning objectives Level or Grade Learning outcomes Objectives: To experience a variety of a competitive team and individual games working in small sided and modified versions of the game of netball Adapt and refine existing skills and apply them to new situations. To recognise and explain the importance of getting ready for games; follow appropriate warm-up routines; identify the main aspects of a good performance; recognise weaknesses; suggest how a performance could be improved. To recognise the importance of rules and to apply them. Level 3-4 Anticipated learning outcomes: 1. Pupils will learn to use basic principles of play when selecting and applying tactics for defending and attacking. Pupils will develop the skills necessary to outwit opponents. Encourage shadowing activities. Shadowing in pairs along a line - facing each other and then behind the other. Assess pupil knowledge of positions and starting positions Defending coaching cards

Demonstration of how to stand and move and change direction. Marking and interception drill in 3 s using point system. Use of coaching defending cards. Some groups may spend more time in small-sided games Lesson 6 Develop man to man marking and interception Reinforce sprint dodge Pupil led warm-up including running and jumping.
