From Our Board President Welcome Spring! Finally, the grass is turning green and the temperatures are getting warmer. The opportunity for us to enjoy all that our club has to offer is here. We have our first golf tournament of the year coming up this weekend with the Men s Member-Member. The pool will be opening on Memorial Day weekend. courts are resurfaced and ready for your enjoyment. I want to thank our members for the great response to our membership drive. As we enter into this time of the year, we are so glad to not only welcome the warmer temperatures but the 14 new members that have discovered Colonial Country Club. Please be sure to stop and welcome any new members if you don t recognize someone around the club. Make them feel welcome and invite them to join in on some of the wonderful activities we have planned for May. Holly and David are making the last Friday of the month New Member night so please be sure to come out and greet them at the member mixer from 6-7pm. Chef Tilley has many specials lined up for our dining pleasure so be sure to support him and the kitchen staff s efforts. The menu looks great and tastes just as good. Our membership drive is in full swing until the end of May. This membership drive is attractive for all types of members and the future of our club depends on our ability to grow our membership. Colonial Country Club is still the best value in the area and we have so much to be proud of. So please take time to share with your friends, family and work colleagues and by all means, invite them out to Colonial to join us for some fun. Again, this is an exciting time of the year at our club. Activities are beginning to pick up and our membership and grass (finally!) are growing. I look forward to seeing you at the club. Thank you for your membership. Take care, Rob Robert Blakely

From Our House Manager Well the spring is upon us and the grass will start turning greener as the month goes on. The pool will open on Friday, May 22 nd with the opening pool party from 6:00 to 10:00pm. We will have the Memorial Day activities on Monday, May 25 th with the blowup slide, DJ Steve Carter, cookout buffet, games, etc. so this will be a fun time for all. The Membership drive is going well and will run until May 31, 2015, this is a great time to get in the Club. So if you know someone who has been thinking about bring them by and we can give them a tour of the Club and set them up with a round of golf. We are working on a lot of fun events for the summer to include pool parties, wine tastings, entertainment on the patio, tennis social, family campout, etc. There will be something for everyone and we want to make Colonial a fun place to be. Hopefully by the me you read this that we are experiencing warm sunny days and warmer nights. Over the last month we have seen our Champion greens come out of dormancy completely and we are lowering the heights weekly. We have started lightly topdressing to keep the greens smooth and roll true. The common Bermuda grass that is over the rest of the golf course is slowly star ng to wake up very slowly but I am seeing more new green grass every day. We will fer lize the en re golf course in May which will help speed up the growth of the grass. Throughout this month, we will start pruning up the canopy of the trees which will allow more sunlight under the trees to increase growth of the turf. Due to the slow start of the growth of the fairways I am reques ng that you keep the golf carts in the rough and stay off the fairways un l further no ce. As we do this it will allow no compac on on the plant as it starts to grow. Finally, I would like to thank Bob Adams for his contribu ons to purchase the new holes signs on the golf course. It is with the support of all the members that we can con nue to improve Colonial Country Club to reach its highest poten al every day. Thanks, John T. Dawson, GCS and Birdie

GOLF NEWS Members, The tournament commi ee has decided to postpone this year s Men s Member Guest Tournament from June 12 13 ll August 14 15. This decision was made a er an evalua on of our current golf course condi ons and the expected growth between now and June. The extremely cold condi ons in late February and early March have slowed the growth of our Bermuda grass fairways and damaged several of our tees. Re sodding of these teeing areas is taking place now. Given warmer weather and addi onal grow in me; all of our affected areas should be significantly be er in August. We always want to present the best product possible and especially when you are hos ng guests for our biggest tournament of the year. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to par cipa on.
