Equipment Players are required to bring and use proper equipment when at practice and games. o Shin guards and socks that COVER the shin guards o We will have socks available for purchase for $3 at the field on the first Friday and Saturday of games. These are optional, but at a great price point. One size fits most - navy blue. o Water bottle o Soccer ball o Little Lakers through 3rd grade will use a Size 3 soccer ball. o 4 th -5 th grade will use a Size 4 soccer ball. o 6th-8th grade will use a Size 5 soccer ball. o Athletic shoes o Soccer cleats are recommended, but athletic shoes are acceptable. They should secure tightly with ties or Velcro and have good support. No boots, sandals or slip-ons. No baseball or football cleats with toe spikes allowed. o Glasses may be worn, but a secure safety strap is required. o No jewelry can be worn, including earrings & necklaces. New earring piercings included - wait to pierce! o Please have players dress for the weather. Lakefront Park tends to be windier and colder than our front steps, so dress in layers. Player may wear sweatshirts or coats under their uniform top for warmth. They may wear hats and mittens - but please, no strings on hats or sweatshirts. Uniforms Kindergarten-8th grade players: o Reversible uniform top. It is a style that we have used for many years, so if you have one, even an older one/hand-me-down, please feel free to use it! If you do not have one, they will be for sale during the first two Fridays and Saturdays of games for $20. Little Lakers receive team shirts. Each team coach will be distributing team shirts on the first Saturday game day.
Team and Field Guidelines Little Lakers *only play on Saturday 2 halves of 12 minutes Kindergarten: 4 quarters of 10 minutes, 3 minute half time 1st grade: 4 quarters of 10 minutes, 3 minute half time 2nd-3rd grade: 7 v. 7 with keepers (6 field players, 1 keeper) 4th-5th grade: 7 v. 7 with a keeper (6 field players, 1 keeper) 6th-8th grade: 6 v. 6 (5 field players, 1 keeper)
Laws of the Game The recreational program is a great time for players, coaches, and referees to learn the laws of the game. Please be patient with our new referees, considerate of our coaches, and be sure to focus on fun for the players! Start of Play (kick-off) 1. The kick-off is decided by coin toss. 2. All players must be on their side of the fields. 3. Opposing players shall remain 5 yards from the center dot. 4. Ball must be kicked into opponents half of field. 5. The kicker shall not play the ball a second time until another player has touched it. 6. Change sides after halftime. 7. After a goal is scored, the game will be restarted with a kick-off by a player of the team scored upon. Ball in and out of play 1. Ball is out when it has wholly crossed either the touchline or goal line, whether in the air or on the ground. Scoring A goal is scored when the ball passes wholly over the end line between the goal posts and under the cross bar provided no law infraction has taken place. A goal cannot be scored directly from a goal kick, kick in, or an in-direct free kick, the ball first must be touched by another player of either team. Goals can be scored directly from a corner kick. No official scores are kept. Fouls and Misconduct In-direct kick offenses: Dangerous play, charging (fairly) when the ball is not within playing distances, illegal obstruction. Any heading of the ball will result in an in-direct kick. Free kick 1. A free kick is taken at the spot of an infringement. 2. All free kicks will be taken as indirect. 3. Indirect free kick must be touched by another player from either team before it can score. If it is not touched and enters the goal a goal kick is awarded to the defending team. 4. The player taking the free kick may not play the ball again until another player touches it. 5. Opposing players must be 5 yards (K-1) and 10 yards (2-8) away. Kick-In 1. Players in LL-1 st grade will kick in the ball in lieu of throw in when ball goes out of bounds across sidelines. 2. Both feet touching the ground outside the touchline.

Both feet touching the ground outside the touchline, use both hands to thro w directly over head. 3. The player taking the throw-in may not play the ball until another player touches it. Goal Kick 1. Goal kick is awarded to the defending goal if the ball goes out across the goal line last touched by an offensive player. 2. Grades LL-1st grade: The kick is taken from any point inside the build-out line. Opposing team must be 5 yards from ball. 3. Grades 2-8: The kick is taken from the goalie box. The opposing team must be 10 yards away. Corner kick 1. A corner kick is awarded to the offensive team if the ball goes out across the goal line last touched by a defensive player. 2. Opposing player must be 3 yards (K-1) and 8 yards (2-8) from kicker. 3. The player taking the corner kick may not play the ball again until another player touched it. 4. A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick. Goalies (2nd-8th grade only) 1. A goalie may only use their hands in the goalie box 2. An indirect free kick is awarded to a handball outside of the box 3. The goalie may not pick up a ball passed from a teammate.
