Nautical Water Racing: Promoter of the Wild West Watercross Tour Nautical Water Racing is sanctioned by the IJSBA(International Jet Sports Boating Association), which is the governing body of watercross racing. They provide insurance and rules which allows us to put on a safe and exciting event for competitors and their families.
About Watercross Racing Nautical Water Racing features closed course racing and freestyle events in Kansas and throughout the Mid-West region. There are two types of PWC racing: Ski Class(stand-up) and Runabout (sitdowns). Closed course events are a contest of speed and riding ability, featuring competitors negotiating multiple laps on a course. The races start just like a Motorcross race, with a starting gate. The rider s ability is shown when they navigate around red and yellow buoys, which determines the course. Freestyle events are intended to show a rider s skill and expertise in jumping, flipping, and many more difficult and challenging maneuvers during a two minute time period with the winners determined by a panel of judges.
Race Course Area Requirements The starting gate sits in about 3 feet of water. There are between four and eighteen participants on the course at one time and the typical closed course racetrack will take up an area of approximately 1000 feet wide and 800 feet deep with red and yellow buoys marking the turns. Watercross racing also requires a beach for a pit area with access to the starting line, and parking lots to house competitors vehicles, RV s and trailers. ATV s are used to haul competitor s equipment from the pits to the water.
2010 Championship Race Series Nautical Water Racing is proud to promote a ten round, five weekend championship Race Series in the greater Wichita Area. We will utilize the latest equipment available for PWC Racing. Vision: Draw national racers to the local community Become a center point in the watercross community Involving local establishments in combination with national, regional, and local events Continue to build opportunities for young adults and juniors in the PWC community
