FSA YOUTH LOANS Are you interested in expanding a small goat herd, purchasing equipment and inputs for a garden then sell produce at the farmer s market, acquire an animal to show at the county fair to aid in funding the expansion of future animal projects or have other production agriculture entrepreneurial interests? If so, consider utilizing the FSA Youth Loan Program to further your goals. The Farm Service Agency, USDA, provides loans to youth in rural communities who want to start learning the business of agriculture. Operating loans of up to $ 5,000 to eligible youth ages 10 to 20 may be made for projects of modest size, educational, and initiated, developed and carried out by youth participating in 4-H clubs, FFA, or a similar organization. A FSA Youth Loan can provide financial services to fund agricultural projects while gaining valuable personal and business experiences in the process. Consider this opportunity! For more information, contact the Farm Service Agency, Farm Loan Programs Division, 18 East 7 th Avenue, South Hutchinson, KS. Phone number 620 669-8266. Or feel free to email Ray Bartholomew, Farm Loan Manager (ray.bartholomew@ks.usda.gov) or Sheri Grinstead, Farm Loan Officer, (sheri.grinstead@ks.usda.gov) to field your questions. Page 5 NOVEMBER 2016 Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Changes for 2016-17 Kansas 4-H SpaceTech currently has five project areas: rockets, robotics, astronomy, computers and GPS/GIS. Through the years, as new sub-areas have developed, they have been added to SpaceTech. NOVEMBER 11 TH REMEMBER TO THANK A VETERAN FOR ALL THAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR US! The Kansas 4-H SpaceTech Action Team and Kansas 4-H Youth Development are pleased to add a new area for 2016-17, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), that will be added to 4HOnline as a new state project area under SpaceTech on October 1, 2016.
