Some of you know Byron Morrison, 4-H Youth Specialist, located in Greene County but a lot of you do not, but as you continuing to stay in 4-H you will here that name being mentioned for years to come. But on March 17th we all will have to say Good Bye to this person who truly believes in 4-H and has lived, breathe, camp, fished, work, travel, laugh and cry for over 35 in the 4-H world. Build A Box Of Friendship Into a box of friendship To insure that it is strong First a layer of respect On the bottom does belong. Then to the sides attach, In the corners where they meet, Several anchors full of trust, Devoid of all deceit. by Chuck Pool The height of friendship can be measured By the sides of four, So make them all a larger cut, And the box will hold much more. Now fill it up with courtesy, Honor and esteem, Understanding, sympathy, And passion for a dream. Add to that your honesty, Emotions joy and love, And since they re so important, Place them up above But leave the box wide open So all can see inside, To learn what makes a friendship work From the box you built with pride. Webster County 4-H thanks you for all the years you have given us. Sincerely, Jeannie Moreno 4-H Youth Development Program Assistant University Extension does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability or status as a Vietnam era veteran in employment or programs.

CLOVER KIDS CORNER Through Clover Kids clubs, children learn how to get along, share and work in groups, explore their interests and build self-confidence. Each Clover Kids Corner provides an activity, information or other materials that Clover Kids leaders can use in planning and implementing experiences that introduce five-to sevenyear olds to the 4-H concept of learning by doing. Ice Fun What You Need variety of containers with ice rock salt What You Do Place various sizes of ice in a large container. Ask the children if they ve ever slipped on the ice. What types of things do people use to make it safer to walk on the ice? Let the children predict what will happen if they pour rock salt on top of the ice, based on their past experiences. Then let them try it. What happens? Use the rock salt to make tunnels and different designs in the ice. Valentine Snack Pots What You Need Terra cotta clay pots Pencils Acrylic paints Spray sealer Valentine stickers Ribbon Paint brushes Newspaper Pencil (with new eraser) Sponge REGIONAL INFORMATION FAMILY CANOE RIVER SCAVENGER HUNT For you early planners, the dates for the Northfork River canoe trip clean up will be August 7 and 8. That way no one will miss any of the great activities happening at the Ozark Empire Fair. Usually 6-8 families make a full crew. We had a great team last year. One was a family of 9. Call now to get your name on the list. There is no cost for canoes, camping or trash bags. They are all provided by Pettit s Canoe Rental. SW REGIONAL HORSE SHOWS SET Page 3 The spring Fuzzy Fools 4-H horse show is set for 10 am, April 26, at the Parnell Arena in Miller. Entries are due by April 23, and entry forms will be available soon. For details call Debi Woodward, 861-3039. The District Show is set for August 16, at Miller also. Due date is Aug. 13. SOMO FARM AND RANCH invites you to meet John Lyons, America's Most Trusted Horseman, who will be signing autographs at 2850 West Kearney, Springfield, March 4 th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Plastic terra cotta pot liner What You Do Lay newspaper on a work space. First, show children all the supplies and tell them to think about what they want their finished pot to look like. Paint the inside and the outside of the pot and let it dry. It may need more than one coat. Decorate the pot. Try different ways: polka dots can be made by dipping the pencil eraser in paint and dabbing it. Stickers are easy to use. Conversation hearts can be glued on. Use a sponge to add another color on top of the old one. (Wet sponge, wring out water and dab it into paint. Wipe off extra paint on the newspaper. Dab sponge lightly onto the first color.) When pots are done, spray with acrylic sealer and let dry. Put the liner in and fill with a nutritious snack (or candy.
