TECHNICAL BULLETIN HP-S-DIFF-TB 03-16 ISO Registered Company MODEL HP-1+6+S "HIGH" PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL REDUCING REGULATOR Model HP-1+6+S is a heavy duty, high pressure reducing differential regulator. The in ter nal trim is of a pressure bal anced design, with the di a phragm having both up and down stops. Inlet pressure may be as high as 3000 psig (207 Barg). Outlet pres sure may be as high as 1500 psig (103 Barg). Differential pres sures may vary from 15-150 psid (1.0-10.3 Bard). CAUTION HP 1+6+S Option contains single diaphragm construction. In the event of diaphragm failure, the process fluid will mix with the loading fluid. MODEL HP-1+6+S FEATURES High pressure operation. CS and SST body/spring chamber materials. NACE or Non-NACE constructions. Anti-blowout adjusting screw assembly with closing cap. CAUTION Do NOT Apply in Steam Service! Do NOT Apply in Oxygen Service! Option -40: NACE CONSTRUCTION. For ap pli ca tions where gas or liquid is clas si fied as sour due to pres ence of H 2 S. Both CS and SST body/spring chamber constructions available to meet NACE re quire ments. Internal wetted portions meet NACE Standard MRO175 re vi sion, when the exterior of the reg u la tor is not di rect ly exposed to a sour gas environment, buried, in su lat ed, or oth er wise de nied direct atmospheric exposure. Ei ther of the available trim de signs are in com pli ance. Diaphragm flange bolting is stan dard bolting, and meets NACE MRO175 Section 6.3 re quire ments. APPLICATION AND SELECTION FUNCTIONAL OPERATION OF DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE REDUCING REGULATORS Differential pressure reducing reg u la tors operate in accordance with the pa ram e ters as in di cat ed in Fig. 1. Some times called tracking reg u la tors, a dif fer en tial reduc er always has the P 2 -Outlet Pres sure greater than the P - load ing Pressure by a rel a tive ly con stant pres sure dif fer en tial de ter mined by the range spring setting. (See Graph 1.) If P decreases by 15 psig (1 barg), then P 2 will also de crease by the same 15 psig (1 Barg). If P increases by 29 psig (2 Barg), then P 2 in creas es by 29 psig (2 Barg). Thus, P 2 tracks P, with the dif fer en tial pres sure between P and P 2 be ing relatively con stant ly at P diff, as determined by the range spring set pres sure.
