School Friday 30 th March 2018 WEEKLY NEWS UPCOMING EVENTS Week commencing 26 th March 2018 2 nd April Year 6 to 7 Parents meeting 3 rd April Year 6 to 7 Transition Day 6 th April End of term 13.00hrs. 16 th April Return to school 20 th April Invention convention w/c/ 23 rd April World Book Day PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE Dear Parents As the Easter break approached we have had another packed week here at EIS East. On Tuesday our Secondary footballers enjoyed another fixture and we came away victorious and the students continue to enjoy their football. Wednesday say our Primary Parents consultation which was another busy, informative and successful event. Thank you to all those who managed to come in and chat to the staff and we welcome all feedback about this and last week s events. The week ended with our monthly parents coffee morning and again it was good to see our PTA and others in attendance to listen to the feedback from the parents survey completed earlier this year. Next week our Year 6 will enjoy a transition day where they will be Year 7 students for the day! This will be their first introduction to life as a Secondary students and I hope they enjoy the experience. We will be holding an information event for the year 6 parents on Monday at 15.30 and I hope to see you all then. Our Year 9 student s minds should now be turning to what they will be studying at IGCSE and soon after the Easter break we will hold an information evening for students and parents to discuss the options available. I would also like to remind all the Invention Convention has been launched and all students at EIS East have a project to keep them occupied over the forthcoming Easter break and we will celebrate their work on April 20 th. Mr. Phillips

NURSERY AND RECEPTION This week Nursery and Reception children learned the sounds 'ee' and 'or'. They practised their reading, writing and counting skills and had lots of fun making a homemade play dough. They used pattern blocks to make different impressions. They spoke about Easter and made a sheep picture, and painted flowers using forks instead of paint brushes.

---------------------- PRIMARY ----------------------- PRIMARY INTER-SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME 29/03/18 On Thursday, our primary football team travelled to Russian school 922 for another exciting match. Both our first and second teams were in action. The first game was between the first teams of both ourselves and Russian school 922. In a very close match, our Russian opponents were ahead for most of the game. But in the last minute, Jan managed to secure an equaliser final score 1-1. In the second match, our second team took on 922 s second team. Again the game was close. Again 922 took first blood, securing a one goal advantage. But once again, towards the end, we brought the game level with a late equaliser from Kerem - 1-1! Well Done to our whole squad, who fought and played with great spirit and determination.

ENGLISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL MOSCOW EAST ------------------ SECONDARY ------------------INTER-SCHOOL SENIOR SECONDARY FOOTBALL GAME 27/03/18 On Tuesday, our Senior Secondary football team travelled to Russian School 795 for another inter-school match. The game was a first time debut for Dmitriy, who has recently joined EIS. Just before half-time, we were already 0-3 behind. But before the break the team pulled a goal back; 1-3 at half-time. In the second half it looked as if we were running out of time. Just a few minutes were left and we were still two behind. But thanks to two late goals, we pulled it back to 3-3; A great comeback to achieve a very creditable draw! Congratulations to all our team members Robert, Nur, Muiz, Muaz, Ebou (captain), Dmitriy and Katya (photographer).

YEAR 7 AND 8 ART TRIP On Thursday the Year 7 and 8's went to Garage Art Gallery in Gorky Park to an exhibition titled 'The Other Trans-Atlantic'. They experienced a fantastic English speaking tour through the exhibition featuring op art to trick the eye, and to interact with kinetic, or moving art. The exhibition is interactive in part with a room full of mirrors and the students enjoyed walking through hanging blue tube art and experiencing the way it alters our perception and feeling. A big thank you to the students for their impeccable behaviour, and to Mr Krechetov and Mr Campion for accompanying us on the journey. If you have not been to this exhibition at Garage Art Gallery it is well recommended for students.
