Welcome to CATS Gym, home of the Southaven Wildcats All Star Cheerleading teams! We are excited that you have chosen to become a part of our competitive cheer program. Our mission here at CATS Gym is to enrich the lives of the children and their families through the sport of competitive cheerleading. Our goal each day is to teach our athletes the value of commitment, hard work, integrity, leadership, self-confidence, a positive attitude and develop a love for the sport. In the following pages, you will find: Program Description Parent/Participant Code of Conduct Policies & Procedures Financial Commitment and Contract Roster for Program Medical Information Liability Waiver Dates for Payments Costs for the Season Please take the time to read and understand all of the enclosed material. After you have read the packet thoroughly, please sign/complete the following: Financial Commitment Contract Roster for program Medical Information Liability Waiver Please return the above completed forms along with a copy of your child s birth certificate and the $50.00 Registration fee, which is per family (registration fee is only due if you are new to CATS Gym), as soon as possible. Please keep the remaining pages of the tryout packet for reference throughout the 2017-2018 season. Any questions may be addressed to: Resie Ingalls (owner) cell # 901-340-0141 tyandresie@aol.com or southavenwildcats@gmail.com CATS Gym 1700 Expressway Drive Horn Lake, MS 38637

Program Description Depending on tryouts/evaluations and your child s age, your child will be placed on one of the following teams: Tiny Team: 3 to age 6 *Exhibition ONLY Mini Team: 5 to age 8 *PREP ONLY Youth Team: up to age 11*PREP & TRAVELING Junior Team: 8 to age 14 *PREP & TRAVELING Senior Team: age 11 to age 18 *PREP & TRAVELING ***These team ages are based on how old the athlete is as of August 31st. The age of the competitor as of August 31, 2017 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 2017-2018 season for all divisions. *** Teams can consist of 5-32 members per squad. 20 participants & under is classified as a Small Division. 20 participants & up is classified as a Large Division. Girls will be placed on a team based on their AGE & SKILL LEVEL. Team placement is decided by the head coach and the owner of the gym. This is not up for discussion. The coaches place your child on a team they think will be BEST for them. We are one big family, so just because your child's friend is on a different team, DOES NOT mean they are not cheering together!! We will also be doing crossovers this year. Only selected cheerleaders will be used as crossover participants, with NO EXTRA EXPENSE!! Again, this is decided by the owner of the gym and coaches. Prep Team: This will be a full year team. A prep team is designed to practice only once a week and they compete local/minimal traveling distance. A prep team s routines only last 2 minutes, verses an All Star team s routine, which is normally 2 minutes & 30 seconds. Prep teams only compete one day and All Star has two day competitions. This is designed by the USASF to keep regular All Star teams from dropping down into the "Prep Division to win. ** Please note, the Prep team will have evaluations April 3-9, 2017. PRACTICES: Practices during the summer will be twice a week and each practice will be for 2 hours. During the summer, we encourage everyone to come to practice. This time of the year is where the coaches train your child to stunt, tumble, jump, dance, and learn basically everything it takes to put together a winning All Star cheerleading routine. Beginning in August, all cheer practices will be mandatory! This is so we can be ready for the upcoming competition season! During the months of August- March, the teams will practice three times a week and each practice will last for 2 hours. If needed, additional practices will be added. Practice days & hours will be determined by your coach after tryouts/evaluations. *Mandatory tumbling will be added to one practice. Each team will get their own schedule. This will start at the beginning of the season.

ATTENDANCE: Missing practice during the summer is acceptable, but must be cleared through the head coach of your child's team. If your child will not be at practice due to a sickness or family emergency, please contact your coach and let them know ASAP. Please DO NOT wait until after the practice has started to notify the coach. *This rule applies year around.* **Please let the gym know when you will be out of town for vacation & when you will return by putting your name and dates on the calendar at the front desk. At CATS Gym, we are very supportive of other sports and activities. If you choose to be on the Southaven Wildcat All Star team, you will still be allowed to be involved in other activities outside of our program. We will try to work with anyone who is already committed to other sports in order to allow them to cheer for Southaven Wildcats, but please note that practices starting in August 2017 will be mandatory (unless it is approved by your coach to miss). ** ATTENDANCE AT ALL COMPETIONS IS MANDATORY**

Parent/Participant Code of Conduct My child must attend all mandatory practices, performances & competitions. It is imperative that my child arrives at all practices, competitions, or any other scheduled event on time. Once I sign this contract, I am responsible for the complete season of monthly tuition made payable to CATS Gym for the Southaven Wildcat All Star program regardless if I attend classes/practices or not. If I choose to leave the Southaven Wildcats All Star program after I sign the contract, I am not eligible for any refund of payments or competition fees already paid to the program. This includes injuries as well. My child will respect the dress code. Hair must be tied back away from the face with a cheer bow, cheer shoes on & tied, and "No Show" socks must be worn. Spandex shorts, Soffee Shorts, or Nike shorts are acceptable to wear. NO JEAN SHORTS. NO SPORTS BRAS ONLY SHOULD BE WORN. Participants above the age of 10 years of age must wear a sports bra under their t-shirt and spandex bloomers under shorts that do not have a lining. NO JEWELRY is allowed at practice or any competitions. NO nail polish at any competitions. Personal belongings should be left at home. CATS Gym, LLC is not responsible for any lost or stolen property. If my child is sick, she will still be required to attend practice (unless permission is obtained from a coach prior to practice). She will not be required to participate, but is required to attend. I cannot use "grounding from cheer" as a form of punishment as this is detrimental to the entire team and not just one team member. If there is a question or concern, I will contact the head coach. GOSSIP will NOT be tolerated about other teammates or programs at CATS Gym. We SERIOUSLY mean NO GOSSIP, NO GOSSIP, NO GOSSIP! Drama will NOT be tolerated at ANY level! There will be NO profanity or abusive language in or around the gym or at competitions. All CATS Gym Parents/Participants will show good sportsmanship, polite manners, & kind disposition at all times. NO ONE is allowed to post Southaven Wildcat All Star cheer music, videos of routines, stunts, practices, etc. on ANY website (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Video Apps) until the complete cheer season is over. Pictures may be posted online of competitions & practices. I am responsible for communicating any injuries that my child has, whether it happened inside or outside of practice. I understand that Southaven Wildcats will expect me to take my child to a physician as soon as an injury occurs. I understand that I will need to supply a doctor s note in order for my child to return to participation in practices &/or competitions. I will attend all parent meetings or have someone take notes for me in my absence. I as a parent, am not allowed on the practice area or on the competition floor/team areas at competitions, nor am I allowed to speak to any competition official. My child must wear their assigned practice attire to cheer practice or the account will be charged. I will be respectful to all of the CATS Gym coaches, staff members, & volunteers. Each team will watch and support the gym s other teams at competitions. Good sportsmanship is a MUST!

CATS Gym/Southaven Wildcats uses Facebook and email as a primary source of communication. Please like our page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/southavenwildcats) for updates and information. NO ONE is allowed to yell at the coach or cheerleaders on the practice floor. If this happens, you will be asked to leave immediately. I/Parents are NOT allowed to make contact with your child or coach during practice or tumbling. I/Parents are NOT allowed to "coach" your child during practice hours. For example, DO NOT pull your child over during a break and tell them "how to fix something" or "what they need to be doing". Leave that up to the coaches. Coaches reserve the right to close practices at any time for any reason. This means parents will not be allowed to sit and watch the last 20 mins. Please do not yell, gasp, or scream if someone falls in a stunt during practice. This is EXTREMELY distracting and causes the girls to become nervous. THIS IS CHEERLEADING - NOT BALLET. THEY ARE GOING TO FALL IN STUNTS WHILE PRACTICING. Parents are NEVER allowed to represent CATS Gym/Southaven Wildcats All Stars under any circumstance concerning accommodations, competitions, or any other situations. I understand that as a parent, my attitude & actions can result in my child's dismissal from the program! ***REMEMBER, there could be someone listening to your conversation WHEREVER you are.*** These policies can be changed by adding or subtracting a rule at anytime. CATS Gym/Southaven Wildcats name or logo, CANNOT BE USED in any form (clothes, bows, etc.) This season we will be doing things differently. No outside apparel will be approved, everything must be run through the Wildcat Pro Shop.

Policies & Procedures Your child is considered late to practice if they are not on the practice floor ready to practice at their scheduled practice time. This includes having on the designated practice clothing and shoes, hair pulled away from face and pulled up, no jewelry, & NO GUM. This season; if children are not in proper practice clothes a new set will be charged to your account. Beginning in August practices will be mandatory. The team CANNOT fully practice the routine if ONE person is missing. Remember, this is a TEAM sport. Excused Absences: A school function that will result in a grade. A death in the family. A contagious sickness such as the stomach virus, strep throat, flu, etc. However, You MUST contact the coach BEFORE practice begins. Unexcused Absences: Jobs School Projects, homework, or tests Dances, birthday parties, concerts, banquets etc. In order to keep the practice schedules at a minimum, every hour we have with the team is precious and every minute is used. Please encourage your child to come to practice prepared to work. Excessive tardiness or absences could result in dismissal from the team. If you are tardy or absent from a scheduled competition, you could be immediately dismissed from the team. If you are sick, discuss your illness with a coach to determine whether or not you should be at practice and/or participate in practice. Please schedule all vacations around the choreography dates. This is when they will get their routine for the season! Dates for choreography for traveling teams are July 23-28 (second date will be announced). Prep team choreography will be at the beginning of August. NO absences will be approved the week leading up to a competition. This is serious practice time!

Injuries and Conditioning Cheerleading is a highly competitive & dangerous sport. Stunting, jumping, tumbling, stretching & dancing could lead to serious injuries that include, but are not limited to: Bruises Pulled or strained muscles Torn or strained ligaments Broken bones, dislocations, paralysis, or even death We at CATS Gym/Southaven Wildcats take every precaution to limit these injuries. Unfortunately, we cannot prevent them all. In the event your child is injured, we will take every measure to ensure your child's well-being. Cheerleading is a very strenuous sport. All of the athletes must be in good physical condition. In our practices, we include exercises that will help with flexibility, strength & endurance. All participants are required to take care of their body. There will be ABSOLUTELY NO drugs, alcohol, and/or tobacco allowed during the cheer season. If anyone is caught drinking, smoking, dipping, or using any illegal drugs, they will be expected to take the necessary steps to quit and/or receive help. This will also result in team dismissal. Travel All cheerleaders and parents are expected to travel to each competition destination on their own. However, the gym will block a set number of hotel rooms at a specific hotel that is close to the competition venue. It is MANDATORY that you and your cheerleader stay at the contracted team hotel unless you have cleared it through the owner of the gym, Resie Ingalls. If staying at another hotel, for any reason, a penalty charge of $100 will be added to your cheer account. This is due to the fact that the gym has blocked rooms for your convenience and the gym is responsible for paying for those rooms. Room blocks average approximately $115.00 a night (not including Orlando). Certain competitions are Stay to Play competitions, which means all hotel reservations must go through the competitions booking agency, in order for your athlete to compete. Once these blocks are set up, we will send out an email to reserve your room.
