Laura Logan & Melinda Ar mentrout Relay for Life Rockingham County/Harrisonburg A Word from our Chairs Happy 2010! I hope this newsletter finds you happy, healthy, and enjoying the New Year! Can you believe the holidays are behind us and January is almost over? Time certainly flies! I m so excited for Relay in May, but before that, we have a lot to do. I hope you have registered your team and your team members. As I write this, we have 42 teams and 179 participants registered. If your team is not one of them, don t worry. There s still time. Put it on your To Do list to take care of this week. It s really quite easy. Simply go to our website (www.relayforlife.org/ rockinghamcounty) and click on the Sign Up Here button. It will walk you through the entire process. Once you register, consider who you can ask to join your team this year or better yet who do you know that could start a brand new team for Relay 2010? The more feet we have on the track, the more money we ll raise! Speaking of raising money, what plans does your team have for fundraising this year? Raising money the way you ve raised money for the past few years will work but how about thinking outside the box. How can you make your spaghetti dinner fundraiser new and exciting? How can you mix up your car wash to reach more people? Ask your teammates for their suggestions. I bet you cna come up with a new and improved way to get even more money raised for your team in 2010! (And be sure to let Lisa Snider know about your fundraisers so we can ALL be informed and participate! Lisa s email is: lsnider@alumni.jmu.edu.) NEW! You can submit your fundraiser online from the event website. Finally, do you know a cancer survivor? We want to celebrate with our survivors! Please bring their contact information to the next team captain meeting on February 16th and give it to Tori Veney, our survivorship chair. She and her committee have wonderful plans in the works for our survivors this year! Once again, Happy New Year! I wish you all the best as you and your team journey through this year s Relay experience. I m here to help in any way I can!
