Only the Overall Champion will qualify to compete in the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship Qualifying Competition for details see page 24. SPECIAL AWARDS H1 THE BROOD MARE PREMIUM AWARD. Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain offers one premium in Class 1. The premium will take the form of a service voucher valued at 100.00 to be used for the service of the mare by any graded or life approved stallion in 2018 or 2019. The premium will be awarded at the Judge s discretion to his selection from the prize winners. The winning mare must already be registered with SHB (GB) and the owner must be or become a fully paid up member. Only one award per year can be accepted. Premiums will only be awarded if there are a minimum of three mares forward. NOTE: Special Award H.1 will be judged before the Hunter Breeding Championships. FARRIERS AWARD THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF FARRIERS will award a rosette to the winning horse in each class with a plaque to the overall winner & an award to the farrier responsible for its feet & shoeing in Classes 12-15 providing 15 or more horses are entered. The judge will take into consideration (a) condition of the feet; (b) the making (or preparation) & fitting of the shoes; (c) nailing, the position of clips. The entry fee includes a 12.00 Horse of the Year Show contribution which is non-refundable under any circumstances. NOTE: Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association, however Horse of the Year Show rules take precedence. Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association and all Owners, Producers and Riders must be British Show Horse Association Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. These classes are for Working Hunters, any weight, mares, geldings or stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) four years old or over, exceeding 148cm, to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. These classes will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show 9
rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk. Marks must be awarded in the following way: PHASE I (60 MARKS) A: JUMPING POINTS 40 MARKS B: STYLE WHILE JUMPING 20 MARKS. PHASE II (40 MARKS) C: CONFORMATION 20 MARKS D: RIDE 20 MARKS In the event of equality the CONFORMATION MARK from Phase II will take precedence, followed by the RIDE MARK, and then the STYLE MARK. Failure to jump in the correct section will result in elimination. Both classes will be jumped over the same course and height. When judging the Championship, judges will use the marks they have already allocated as a guide. The highest placed unqualified horse in the Championship will qualify for Horse of the Year Show. The Championship is only open to the first and second prize winners in the Light and Heavyweight Working Hunter classes respectively. The four horses forward in the Working Hunter Championship must all be placed as any one of the three could be eligible for HOYS qualification. This class is a qualifying class for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 4th - 8th October 2017. Qualification will not pass below 3 rd place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Class 17 WORKING HUNTER Mare, gelding or stallion, 4 years old and over, capable of carrying 12 stone 7lbs and under. Small Hunters to be included in this category. Horse of the Year Show Qualifier. Class 18 WORKING HUNTER Mare, gelding or stallion, 4 years old and over, capable of carrying over 12 stone 7lbs. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show. The owner must be a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS for the pony to enter this competition. Riders may only ride one pony in each class. The highest placed pony from each class to qualify for the final at Hickstead. Qualification may pass down to third in the event first and second have already qualified.
