Dear Competitors This is our third show this year and we have a few changes firstly the Coloured Section is now a CHAPS affiliated ring and an Unaffiliated ring, rather than being affiliated to BSPA, we shall see how this goes and maybe bring back the BSPA affiliation and RIHS qualifiers next year. As we had such fantastic pony classes last year we have split these now, as it was a mammoth task for one judge and the M&Ms will now be judged in a separate ring and a different judge to the plaited ponies. After two years of bringing top judges up from the south and remaining affiliated to the AHS, but still only having a small entry for the section, we have dropped the affiliation for the Arabs this year but retained the same incredible classification of 12 classes with Pure-Breds and Partbred/Anglos being given separate classes both inhand and ridden. Please support these classes or they WILL be dramatically reduced in 2015. And our 4 th and possibly biggest change this year is the addition of a Workers Section. These have been classed by height of fences rather than by Novice/Open status giving everyone the opportunity to remain within their comfort zone. And not forgetting your canine lorry companions. We have a Fun Companion Dog Show too with an additional Horse & Hound Relay class that will be held in the Workers Ring! Our chosen charity this year is the Sandyflat RDA Centre, Glasgow and we hope to be able to make a donation as good as the 475 we raised for Medical Detection Dogs in 2013. We hope you will support this show with entries for a huge range of classes, by buying raffle tickets in advance and on the day, by donating a prize for the raffle or with cash via your entry form, or by giving of your time and expertise by helping steward or assist around the showground. Raffle A Raffle will be held during the day and drawn mid-afternoon with 100% of the proceeds being donated to RDA Sandyflat, Glasgow Any donations of quality equine or non-equine related items gratefully received to help raise funds for this wonderful cause

At RDA, our horses and ponies provide therapy, achievement and enjoyment to people with disabilities all over the UK. Our network of 500 volunteer groups organise activities such as riding, carriage driving, vaulting and showjumping to up to 28,000 people each year. We have been carrying out our lifechanging activities for over 40 years, and take great pride in the exceptional standard of our instructors and volunteers (18,000 in all). We offer activities for all age groups and, wherever possible, to people with any disability and you re just as likely to find an RDA Group in an urban setting as a rural one. We rely on voluntary help, donations and legacies to deliver our services. There are roughly 500 RDA groups and centres offering our activities throughout the UK. All RDA groups are individual charities, and have their own board of Trustees, highly qualified instructors and trained volunteers. Groups are supported by Regional representatives who provide training, education, physiotherapist support and publicity. Glasgow Group of the Riding for the Disabled Association, Sandyflat What we do: Glasgow RDA provides equine therapy to over 300 children and adults with disabilities from across the Greater Glasgow area. We provide 36 hours of riding and carriage driving sessions per week, with the help of 170 volunteers. Why we do it: Balancing on a horse works thousands of muscles, and the horse s movement mimics a walking pattern in the muscles of the rider, which provides a highly effective form of physiotherapy. It also offers psychological benefits. This combination of physical and psychological benefits makes equine therapy appropriate for a very wide range of disabilities, from autism and Asperger s to cerebral palsy, visual or hearing impairments to learning disabilities. Our history: Starting life in Bearsden as The St Mungo Group of the RDA in 1967, the Group became the Glasgow Group of the Riding for the Disabled Association in 1987, moving to a purpose-built facility in the Summerston area of Glasgow. A member group of the national Riding for the Disabled Association, we are dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities across Greater Glasgow through the provision of opportunities for riding and carriage driving. Our Centre: The centre was officially opened in 1988 by HRH the Princess Royal, President of the Riding for the Disabled Association. The purpose-built facilities include stabling for 20 horses, indoor and outdoor arenas, tea bar, office, meeting room and accommodation for the yard staff. Our Riders: We cater for riders with all types of disability, from the age of three upwards, providing access to the physical and psychological benefits that riding can offer. Our Classes: The aim of our classes is to teach to new skills and foster independence by encouraging riders to take charge of their horse. Riding takes place in small classes indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather. Our activities allow riders to experience the physical, sensory and psychological benefits that riding offers, which in turn helps to increase confidence and self-esteem. The tea bar provides a space for parents and carers to share experiences while riders are in classes. Please note that we currently have a weight restriction of 12 stone maximum. Classes accommodating over 300 riders run from 10 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 1pm on Saturday mornings.
